How To Build An Elite Tire Shop Team That Runs Without You

Mike Melton leads a tire shop crew through a 10-minute mobility warm-up and functional tire-carry drill. The session includes arm circles, 15 squats, walking lunges, and hip stretches, followed by a strength exercise where workers carry tires to a cone and back. Melton frames daily training as essential for building an elite team that runs itself.

Let me show you how to build an elite team. We have 10 minutes to get everything out of here, everything set up, and then we're going to get to our training. All right, let's get it. We got 3 minutes to get everything done so we can get to our training. Everybody ready? JB, you ready? Come on, JB. Behind you. Sean, behind you. You know, he's hard of hearing. All right, so our goal today is to have mobility and injury prevention. Who doesn't train? What football team doesn't train? What baseball team doesn't train? What basketball team? What NASCAR team? They all train, right? All right, cool. We're no different. We're going to build something that nobody's ever seen before. So today our goal is to keep shoulders, hips, knees, and backs healthy. We're going to do arm circles first, um, we're gonna do some more arm stretches, squats, walking lunges, hip stretch, and hamstring stretches. Y'all ready? Let's get it. So first we're going to do arm circles. So everybody know how to do arm circles? Here, we'll get over here. Everybody, 20 arm circles. 10 this way, 10 the other way too. There we go. And 10 the other way. Come on, JB, you ain't flying no damn bird, son. Let's go. All right, go like this, all the way back. 3, 4, 5, 6. Now we're gonna do 15 bodyweight squats. Everybody know how to do that? We'll go like this, like this, bodyweight squats. 2, all right, we're doing 15 of them. 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. Walking lunge, 20 steps. So we'll start back here. Ready? Walking lunge. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. We just going to stretch. That's why I wore my short shorts today, okay? They could have been shorter. I got some shorter, but I don't want the internet go too crazy, okay? We don't want things hanging out around here, okay? All right, so let's go stretch. Oh yeah, feel it, feel the stretch, feel it, JB. Come on, bud, you can do it. Feel the stretch. Come on, we're going to change legs. Feel the stretch. Come on, we're going to get that McDonald's flowing through your blood there, brother. My camera, my microphone probably picked that up. I'm sure it did. All right, so next the test is— see those 4 tires? We're going to take 4 tires. See that cone down there? You're going to put— you're going to pick them up 2 at a time, carry them down to that cone, back down. 2 tires in each arm. All right, you got to go all the way down to that cone right there and then back. You ready? It's not a time thing, it's just doing it. I'll just do it. Yep. I mean, of course, do it as fast as you can for sure. Go! Let's get it! Come on, JB, you got it! Let's go, let's go, go around, JB, go around it! Go, go, go, go! Let's go! Come on, we're gonna make a damn man out of you, son. We're gonna get you 4 girlfriends. Let's go. All right, next. Who wants to go next? Tyler, let's go. Let's show them, Tyler. Show these guys up, dude. You can lift those things up, no problem. Lightweight, son, is what he said. Lightweight. Here we go. Sean's ready. Look at him. Sean's ready, son. Uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-oh. Sean's moving fast, bro. Look at it. Sean's moving fast. Let's go, baby. Let's go. All right, Morgan, do it! Uh-oh, uh-oh, he's moving fast too! Let's go! Oh, go around, go around! Woo! What you waiting for, last son? It's coming for you, it's coming for you! Oh man, he's doing this like it ain't— like it ain't nothing, son. Let's go! That's how you build a lead team at your shops, buddy. Come on, you got it, you got it, you got all them carbs in you this morning, son. I guess so. We're going to burn that energy up. I picked those small ones just for you. Oh, did you? Just for you. We could have went a little larger. Come on, let's go! Hi, show them out. Show them you can like lift those things while you're walking. Come on, dude. Doing all that, huh? Ah, come on, you got it! Let's go! All right, we got to show these guys out.
