HOW TO FIX HIGH ROAD FORCE

A technician balances Cooper Eliminator X-Trail AT tires on a Jeep using a roller that applies 1,200 pounds of force. He reduces the road-force reading from 35 to 29 through massage techniques and weight adjustments, bringing the tire into spec for a smooth ride.

How are these tires going to balance out right here? Now, a lot of people don't know what these tires are. It's called Eliminator X-Trail AT. Now, Cooper Tire actually builds this tire. Now, as far as being a quiet tire, it is really, really quiet. It's got a lot of siping inside those tread blocks. So as far as wet traction, it's definitely going to give you excellent wet traction. Now let's go and go ahead and balance these things out. Now we got it set up on the balancer. We got it with the flange plate balancing by the lug holes. That is the correct way to do it. We're going to take that damn sticker off right there. Snatch her off. Here in a second, this roller is going to come down and put 1,200 pounds of force on top of the tire, being simulating being driven on this Jeep right here. So we're going to find any kind of vibration issues that are going to come from the tire and wheel assembly, and we can correct those before they go on the Jeep. All right, like this one here, it's calling for a little bit higher road force, which is 35, and it's calling for 35, but we're not going to leave it there even though the machine says it can be fixed. We can fix it. All right, we just fixed it. We just massaged the bees, did all our, all our tricks we did. Now let's go ahead and see if that thing works. Now before, we was at 35, right at the limit, which we don't want to be there. Here's the one that said cannot be fixed, so we fixed it. Let's go ahead and set this back up, put it on back on LT. Of course, all the weights are off, just like last time. Now let's see what we got this thing down to. Right before, it was 35. Now we don't like to be there. That's, that's the threshold. We like to go above and beyond and get it low as possible. So now let's see, the roller's coming on here in a second. Let's see if we fix this thing and how much better it's going to be, because the lower that number, the better it's going to ride. Here in a second, that's going to come off. All right, that's coming off. Where we at on weight? All right, we're at 2 ounces here, ounce and 3/4 here. We got that thing all the way down to 29 from 35. So of course that thing's below the threshold and this thing's gonna ride like a damn Cadillac. Come on out, brother. We got them 35s on there. Show you what they look like on that Jeep. Turn that thing that way. See how these things look. Look at that. We got them shined up too, baby. Let's go.
