Mike Melton shows how to fix high road-force tire vibration on a Cooper Discover ATP. After failed balancing attempts, he runs a road-force test, breaks the bead, realigns the tire to the rim at specific spots, and uses a roller to massage out trapped air, dropping the force from high to 18 pounds.
This guy's been to four different places trying to get these tires balanced. These things came from Discount tire, the Discover ATP by Cooper. So he went to Discount Tire twice. They still can't get it right. So we went to another place. They can't get it right. So let's see if we can't fix it. All right, so before we bounce it, we're going to leave their old weights on there. We're going to check and see what's going on. All right, we're gonna start the road force. All right, Road force is coming off. Let's see what's going on. All right, so it's too high. Road force, that's where a lot of our vibrations coming from. So we're going to fix this. So how we fix this is called force matching. So what we do, we break that bead on both sides and the balancer tells us exactly where to match the two spots at. So the rim is here, match the tire there. So now what we're gonna do, we're gonna spin that tire and we're gonna match those spots. Alright, as you see, we're spinning that thing. We're gonna match it up just like that. All right, now what we're gonna do is reseat that bead. Now what we're gonna do now is massage the bead. So what we do, we take that roller and we roll it around that tire. What that's gonna do is get all that air that's trapped in between the bead of the tire and bead of the wheel we fixed. We got the roller on, roller about to come off. Where we at? All right, we got zero weight on there. 18 pounds of force. You see how high was.
