Mike Melton tells fathers their kids know the sound of their truck and that they work, but not who they actually are. He argues dads have become paychecks instead of people, and urges them to share their hopes, humor, and stories before it's too late.
Let me tell you something nobody wants to admit. Your kids know the sound of your truck pulling in that driveway. They don't know you. They know Dad works. They know Dad's tired. They know not to bother Dad when he's sitting in that chair. But ask them, "What makes you laugh?" Ask them what you wanted to be at 12 years old. They don't know. Because you've been just a paycheck, not a father. Fix it. Before they stop asking. Be a man worth knowing. Set the standard.
