Mike Melton swaps out GripMax RT/Max Grip tires for GripMax XT, which he says are more reliable. He demonstrates wheel balancing by applying 1,200 pounds of force to the wheel and reading the results, explaining how proper balance delivers a smooth, Cadillac-like ride.

Unlike other shops, I tell you like it is. So this is the GripMax tire. This is the GripMax RT. Now this set of tires hadn't been that good. Everyone rode force very high, and the highest one was 100. So he's coming back, we're going to swap them out, and we're going to put these GripMax XTs because he still wants to try something different. He had Nitto on it before, no issues, so he's going to try this brand right here. Now we'll see how good these do. Now so far out of the GripMax product, we hadn't had any issues, but I always say, once we start having issues, we will let you know. So right now we saw the— every one of these tires in the RT and the Max Grip has had an issue, but this is the first set. We've done others with no issues, and we've done a lot of these XTs with no issues. So now let's balance these things out and see how these come out. All right, so we went from the RTs to the XTs. Let's see how much better these bounce out. Now before we do it, what we got to do, we got to take that damn sticker off. All right, let's balance it out. We ain't going to cut it, we ain't going to edit. Here in a second, that roller is going to come down. What that roller is going to do, it's going to put 1,200 lbs of force on top of that tire, simulating it being driven on that vehicle. So it's going to check for anything that's going to cause a vibration in that wheel and tire assembly so we can try to repair it before it goes on the truck. Now here we go, roller's coming off. Only got 3 ounces here, 3/4 of an ounce here, and 17 pounds of force. That's what you want to see, every bit of that green. That way that damn thing's gonna ride smoother than a Cadillac, son. We got them on there, MaxxGrip XT. Now these bounce way better than the RTs did.
