Mike Melton tests the Nitto Exo Grappler AWT tire, a rock-resistant all-terrain with studding capability and two sidewall options. He runs a wheel-tire balance check using 1,200 lb of simulated truck load, recording readings like 2.25 oz and 13 lb, all within green limits for a smooth ride.

Here's one tire you don't see too much of. This one here is the Nitto Exo Grappler AWT. Now the thing about this tire, it's made for, you know, people out there in Texas and old fields, stuff like that. It's got a different compound that's better for rocks and stuff like that, so it, uh, they don't wear out as fast. As far as wintertime, these things are amazing in winter, and you can stud them out. Just like all the Nittos, got two different sidewalls. There's what he chose to go with, and there's the other one. All right, go ahead and balance this thing out. You know what we got to do, we got to take that damn take her off. All right, let's balance it out. So we ain't going to cut it, we going to let it. You going to see that roller come down. What's that roller do? Puts 1,200 lbs of force on top of the tire, simulating it being driven on that truck. We going to check and see if— make sure it's not going to vibrate. So this is a diagnostic balancer, checks for any kind of vibrations before it goes on the truck. Now here in a second it's coming off. Look at that, it's only got 2 and a quarter here. Ounce and a half here. Look at that, 13 pounds of force, everything green. That thing will ride smoother than a Cadillac.
