Mike Melton road-force balances a GripMax XT tire using a diagnostic roller that detects vibration before installation. The assembly measured 26 lb of force, needing only tiny weight adjustments of 3¼ oz and ¾ oz. The result will ride smooth as a Cadillac.

The point of view of how to road force balance the new GripMax XT tire. So first, let's go over the tire. It's got a nice aggressive sidewall. It's got a lot of siping in between the tread blocks. It's going to be a quieter tire because the shoulders are closed on there. Now, before we road force it, what we got to do, we got to take that damn sticker off. Always take these stickers off, people. Now we got the balancer set up, LT on there, road force is on. Now let's go ahead and get it, bring that roller down. All right, now we got her spinning, rolling. Here in just a second, of course, that roller's gonna come down. If you've never seen my videos before, let's tell you what that roller does. That roller is going to diagnose any kind of vibration problems that we're going to have in this wheel and tire assembly before it goes on that truck. A lot of people, they don't have these machines, so what they do, they chase their tail of going back and forth balancing tires because they don't know what the hell they're doing. All right, now look at that, we only got 26 pounds of force. Everything's green. This thing ain't going to vibrate at all. Only call for 3¼ ounces here and 3/4 of an ounce here. So you know this thing's going to ride like a damn Cadillac.
