Mike Melton warns that tires lose traction in rain at 4/32 of an inch tread depth, long before they look bald. Many drivers think any visible tread is safe. Check yours before driving in wet weather.

Look at this tire right here. Most people see the damn tread and they think, hell, I'm good. No, the hell you ain't. So around 4/32 tread, if you go to stop in the rain, your traction is a whole lot damn worse than it is in a new tire. So that tire don't have to be bald to put your ass in trouble in the rain at all. So what I want you to do before you go driving in the rain, go check your tread before it damn checks your ass.
