Mike Melton shows how Road Force balancing detects vibration problems that regular balancing misses. The machine applies 1,200 pounds of force to simulate road conditions, and he reduced one wheel's vibration reading from 27 to 23, bringing it below the threshold where customers notice shaking.

The only way we balance tires here is Road Force. I'm Mike at Speedy Tire in Lincolnton, North Carolina. Let me show you exactly how this thing works. What it's gonna do is gonna find any kind of vibration issues before we take the tire and wheel assembly and put it on that vehicle. Come around here for one, all right? A lot of people do, a lot of people do this and I'm not sure why. All it takes is these 2 little fingers, right? You take it, watch this right here. See this? You can just take it and you peel that damn sticker off right there. You gotta take the damn sticker off, son, okay? Now let's go ahead and road force this thing. All right, right now we got it spinning. Here in a second, that roller's going to come down. All right, what that's doing is putting 1,200 pounds of force on top of that tire, simulating it being driven on the vehicle. That way we can diagnose any kind of problems before they go back on that vehicle. You see right here, we're over the limits. It's 27. We can get it down to 23, which is below the threshold. So this customer here won't have any vibration problems.
