Understanding the Difference Between a Therapist, Life Coach, and Mentor

Shakeeta Torres, a licensed clinical social worker and life coach, breaks down what separates therapists, life coaches, and mentors. Therapists need state licensure and handle crisis situations; life coaches operate without regulation and focus on specific niches; mentors offer guidance with varying boundaries and payment structures.

Welcome to my podcast, subscribers. Thank you for being a part of this community. I'm excited to be offering this resource to you, and I hope and pray that it gives you insight and strategy on how to obtain some of your goals. This is not a replacement for seeing a licensed therapist, but rather a resource that provides you with tools, education, and strategy from a licensed therapist like myself. Don't forget, there is a link within each episode for you to submit questions for me to answer right here on this podcast. More than likely, other people in the community may have the same questions that you may have, and this gives me an opportunity to be able to share that knowledge with them as well. But don't worry, I will not share your name or information. Just your questions. So don't forget to share and leave a review on this podcast on the platform of your choice. Again, thank you for being here, and I look forward to hearing from you. Here we are. Welcome everyone. Welcome on Facebook, LinkedIn, um, YouTube, and on Instagram. So I was trying to go live on LinkedIn last week, I believe it was. Yes, but I wasn't able to because something happened. So hopefully today you all can see me on LinkedIn as well. Welcome everyone, good afternoon. I am on Eastern Standard Time, 12:30 PM. So if you're on a different time zone, good morning. Um, those of you who are CST time for sure, or, um hour ahead of me. So welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome. So my name is Shakeeta Torres. I am a licensed therapist, I'm a life coach, I'm a minister, and so much more. But more importantly, I always say this: I'm a child of God. I love the Lord. Um, I love, um, all things mental health and faith and ministry. Okay, and so, um, but so you can see today, by today's live, we're going to talk about Understanding what a licensed therapist is, a life coach is, and a mentor is. This is definitely, I feel like, a topic I should have addressed maybe even, maybe even a few years ago, but I've been getting this question asked to me a lot lately about what is the difference. And so today I'm going to go over all three. So if you have time, hang in there with me. If not, come back and watch the replay. Uh, it's gonna be very, very good and very, um, knowledgeable. And hopefully my prayer is that for those of you who fall in these categories, um, who are also looking for this as well, it will give you the language to really understand what your needs are and also the ones that you serve, what their needs are as well. Okay. And so I am definitely all three. I'm a mentor, life coach, and therapist. I received all three as well. And so I'm going to be also sharing my experience as well when it comes to, um, these different areas. It's gonna be good, so hang in there, okay? So, um, so before I begin, I want to go ahead and say a quick prayer, and then we'll begin. So, Father, I just thank you right now for this teaching on today. Holy Spirit, I pray, God, for your people, for those who are struggling, for those who are going through. We pray, God, um, for just our nations, the nations. Oh God, I pray, God, pray, Holy Spirit, that you continue to cover us, cover them. Lord God, I pray for peace. Lord, I just— then I pray. Amen and amen. And so I know right now in this world there's so much going on. I mean, we can't help but see it, right? All we can do is pray, intercede, um, keep our ear before the Lord, be obedient to what he's asking us to do, especially now, um, and to continue to be a light for other people. Okay, so I wanted to put that out there before I begin. So the very first one I'm going to go over is what is a licensed therapist? What is a licensed therapist? And so there are different types of therapists, you guys, just like with a doctor, just like, you know, with a life coach, just like with any profession you choose. There are different titles and different things that each area has to go through in order to call themselves licensed. And so therapy is, um, you know, is under the umbrella of the medical field, okay, under the medical field. And when it comes to our minds. All right. And so for me, I am an LCSW. That means Licensed Clinical Social Worker. All right. There's other ones. You also have LMFT, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Um, you have LPC. Uh, some of the names have changed, um, over the years for different ones. But in a nutshell, we all have to go to school for to get our bachelor's degree then a master's degree, then we have to go through this rigorous, you know, supervision period where we're under someone, we're getting hours, we're getting experience, and so much more. It's a very rigorous process, y'all. And so for me, um, I had to go and get my bachelor's degree, which I have a BSW, which is a Bachelor of Social Work. Then I have my master's degree, Master of Social Work. And then I had to, you know, work for a company, uh, for a few years to get experience. And then I had to be under a supervisor who made sure that I was providing great clinical care for 2 years. We had to get, I think, 3,000 hours for me and then pass our test. Okay? So passing the test is a whole beast all by itself. So with that being said, once you become licensed, you have to continue to maintain that by going to get continued education hours. Um, every single board, every single state is different. Okay. And so what I mean by that, so oftentimes people are asking me if I could be their therapist, right? And most of the time I can't because they're in a different state than me. So what that means is a therapist has to be licensed in every single state in order to see other people in other states. So for me, I am in North Carolina. Okay, and that's it. I'm only licensed here and that's it. I cannot see anyone in Florida or anywhere else in the States. Okay, um, it'd be illegal. It's illegal. I can get in trouble for that. And so make sure that if you are a person seeking for a therapist, that you are aware whether or not they are licensed in your particular area. And so especially during the pandemic, during the pandemic, um, they lifted a whole bunch of laws It was a lot going on during that time. So we were able to see other people in other states. I did not because I was too busy. All the clients I had during the pandemic, they were still in my state only. I definitely got people calling from like Virginia, South Carolina, different areas because they had lifted that law just for a season in order for people to get the treatment that they were looking for. So now, from my understanding, I did some investigation on this to make sure that it was still still the case, but it is closed now. But I'll be honest with you guys, I feel like, you know, in the future, as times change and, you know, we continue to go through what we're going through now, they may lift it again, which is also, you know, a great thing. It's a good thing, okay? But every state has their own board, every state has their own bylaws, every state have their own way of doing things, okay? For example, I'm in North Carolina. My best friend is in Little Rock, Arkansas. So her board and my board are completely different, okay? She is an LCSWA, which means that she's also getting, you know, supervision hours. She's working in shorts and, um, juvenile justice system. She's really good at it. She's anointed for it. Oh my God, powerful for it. That's her area. And, you know, she can't see anybody in my state, okay? I can't see anybody in her state. And so, um, but her board— I actually want to look at her board because she had asked me about being her supervisor, uh, but I have to actually be licensed as well in her state in order to provide her with supervision. Okay, so it's so many dynamics that go into becoming a licensed therapist. Um, I know that many people, um, especially on social media, don't really understand that or really grasp that. Like, we go through a lot to get to where we are when it comes to providing therapy for people. Okay, every therapist is different. We still have our own different, you know, trainings and expertise and different niches. And, you know, I would say that whenever I first started working as a therapist, I was treating all kind of people, okay, working with some of everybody in the world. But as I began to understand my purpose and understand who God called me to be, you know, God began to highlight to me the areas that I'm called to. But I needed that foundation for me to really see and get the experience I need to perfect, you know, my craft. So as a therapist, it is so important that we continue to get training in areas that we desire to treat people in. And so, you guys, I can go into so many different things right now when it comes to that, but for the sake of time, I'm going to give you guys the highlights of this, okay? Um, and so as far as therapists too, um, if they are credentialed with your insurance company, we can take your insurance too. Once again, every single state is different. There's all kind of insurances out there these days, and I'll be honest, I hated working with insurance companies. It's a pain in the butt. It is a pain in the butt because they also have their own thing about what's billable, how long you can see your client, right? Medical records, right? It's so many different layers to it, you guys, that I will not have time to go into all that. The good thing is therapy is confidential unless you are threatening to hurt somebody else, you are threatening to hurt yourself, Or, you know, if you're involved in the legal system, the judge can request your records. That's a whole situation and right there by itself. Okay, I've definitely had that happen before where records were requested. I had to fight it because ultimately our job is to protect our client's privacy. Okay, it's always my perspective is no matter what's going on in therapy, no matter what my thoughts are, my goal is to always protect my client's confidentiality and their record. Now, if they're threatening to hurt themselves or somebody else, then yes, I have to report that by by law, I have to legally report that. And so there are so many different dynamics, um, as I said earlier, that goes into being a licensed therapist. It is a long educational process, um, and I definitely, um, do not regret becoming a therapist at all whatsoever because I am where I am today because of that. Okay. And so I do know too that there are some programs where they have— where you can become like a counselor, like a mental health counselor. Now, I'm not 100% sure with how all that works, to be honest. I do know that some of them do have their own board and their own process as well, but times are changing so rapidly now that like they are trying to develop different things to get people equipped to be able to counsel people, which is a need, to be honest. It is a need because a lot of my colleagues that I know, they're tired, okay? Like, even for me now, mainly I do life coaching and mentorship, speaking, workshops, all that good stuff. I am no longer actually providing one-on-one therapy in this season of my life. Will that change? I don't know, we'll see. But as I just said, with everything with being a therapist and having my own private practice, okay, as you can see, that on. That's a whole bunch of work all by itself, okay? A whole bunch of work, especially when you are in private practice. Um, many people want to go into their own private practice. God tell you to do that, by my— by all means necessary, you go ahead and you do that. But make sure that you are, you know, making sure that you know what you're doing, because it is some work. Look at— let me look at my notes real quickly about anything I left off from this particular topic today. And so also, yes, I want to go over this real quickly. So a lot of times, as you know, you know, mental health is still— it still has so much stigma to it, okay? So much stigma to it. Um, I myself have been a counselor myself before, for sure, and it has helped me. And so I'm an advocate, I work in it, but I also be myself, you guys. There's nothing wrong with that, okay? We all need someone to talk to in our life, okay? Think about this way. A therapist is going to be, uh, biased, uh, meaning that they are— I mean, unbiased, which means that they are going to look at your situation from the outside looking in. That's what we do, okay? We assessing your behaviors, your patterns, trying to figure out what the root is of some of your issues and what's going on. And of course, every single therapist is different. Everyone is different, okay? Their personality is different. How they counsel is different. We also have to get training in different therapy modalities. And we use this book called the DSM-IV to diagnose you. And we have to because number one, it shows us exactly what we need to do. It's almost like going to the doctor, right? Okay. He said, all right, you have high blood pressure. Okay. What comes under high blood pressure? Right? What you're eating. You might be a little bit overweight. It's the same thing in mental health. We have a diagnosis for you. Underneath that is a description of some of the things that you might be dealing with. And so we treat those symptoms. Okay, it's the same thing. Um, also, uh, with insurance, we have to have it because if not, it's not going to be billable. We won't get paid for it. Um, but once again, it is confidential. It's confidential. Um, also wanted to add this as well. Um, So we diagnose anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, mood disorders, eating disorders. Let me go up a little bit more. My notes— personality disorders, addictions. Like, for me, I don't treat, you know, addiction, all right, when it comes to, you know, marijuana use, when it comes to using drugs and alcohol. I will actually refer my client to someone who did— who does do that. Okay, and so let me look at this one. Personalities— I just said that— personality disorders. Okay, so yeah, so if you have any questions at all about what I'm saying thus far, please be sure to put it in the comment section and I'll try my best to answer your question. All right, okay, dokey. All righty. Also, I want to add up here too is that you also have psychiatrists. They are the ones that can prescribe you medication. Also psychologists, okay? They have a doctorate degree and they're able to give you psychological assessment and also provide therapy as well. So I do have colleagues in my, I will say my circle, who are also psychologists too, and they do a variety of, in-depth assessments to diagnose you as well. Okay, so the next one here is, what is life coaching? What is life coaching? Okay, so life coaching is amazing. I love life coaching. And I'm gonna add this too as well. It's definitely possible to have all three. You can have a therapist, you can have a life coach, and you can have a mentor. Okay, all at the same time. And I've definitely had to where I was a client's therapist and they also had a life coach, or I was their life coach and they also had a therapist, okay? Because they both can, um, help you in different areas of your life, okay? So typically coaching is— typically it can be short-term or it can be long-term depending on what you are getting coaching for, okay? Coaching has no jurisdiction. As some of you guys know, I have my own program of certified Christian life coaches, um, empowerpurposeacademy.com. You can go check it out. You can also sign up for a free trial to really understand more about what I'm sharing with you all today. And so with that being said, um, coaching has no jurisdiction. That means that you can coach anyone anywhere in the world at any given time, at any given moment, without any board jurisdiction or state jurisdiction. That is a good thing. The only thing about that is, is that it is not required that you get training and certification in order to call yourself a life coach. There is no, no board telling you have to do it, but I definitely highly recommend that you do. Okay. And so what I've noticed over the years is that I met people for the most part that have had some training and then some of them may have had like little training.. But if you want to really perfect your craft and really put, you know, put your best foot forward and make sure your client getting what they need, I highly recommend that you do get some training for sure. As I just said, I also have my program, Certified Christian Life Coaches. It's very robust. My students are learning so much. We actually meet again on next Monday, um, to kind of have like, you know, a powwow talk, see where they are, see what their needs are, and for me to mentor them. Okay. And so there are so many different types of life coaches, you guys. Um, I think a lot of time whenever people are coming to me, you know, want to get certified, they may struggle with their niche a little bit, and that's okay, and that's normal because it does take time to kind of figure out, you know, what it is that you want to do or figure out what it is that God's calling you to do. You might be a person like myself. I'm like, I'm multifaceted. I could do a lot of different things. I'm good at a lot of different things, right? But I still have to kind of hone down on what it is that God's asking me to do, okay? So I'm not all over the place, okay? And not only that, if you're saying that you are multifaceted, right, and you don't have like— you're not able to narrow it down, how can you reach your ideal client? How can you reach your ideal— the ideal people that God is calling you to work with, okay? Whether you're a believer or not, how can you— how can you reach them? If you're just saying, hey, I'm a life coach. Okay, what do you do? What do you do? And so I did a blog maybe about 6 months ago, um, called 25 Different Types of Niches You Could Have. And I'm gonna— not gonna go over all of them right now. If you want the link to that, I can put it in the description, um, as well when I'm done. Um, I can also, um, DM you here on Instagram if you want the link as well. But you can do, um, of course, Christian life coaching, Even with that, you still need to be able to niche down still. Okay, let me go look at my little list here. You can do ADHD coaching, you can do— you can be a parent coach, you can be a relationship coach, you can work with singles. Like, you can work— oh my gosh, like, it's so many different ones. But I promise you, there is space for you if you want to become a life coach but you're not sure, you know, where to navigate. It's, it's there, okay? It is there, okay? Let me go up a little bit. Um, I do want to address this while I'm here, okay? So whenever, um, back in July when I had a webinar for people who were interested in becoming a Christian life coach, we— I had probably over like 50 people who were on that particular call. And, um, the thing I kept hearing was, I'm called to healing and deliverance. I kept hearing that over and over and over and over again. And I'll be honest, okay, um, I'm a great listener. I can discern things, you know, pretty well. I don't know everything, but I can discern some things, okay? And what I can discern is that number one, the person is saying that they needed healing and deliverance themselves. So my advice to you, if you're saying that you are called to healing and deliverance, that you make sure that you are getting that yourself, for one. Um, for two, in what area of healing and deliverance? Even as a life coach, you need to be able to articulate, okay, who is it that God's calling you to help heal and to be delivered? Who, who is it? Who is that? And so I'm actually, um, I'm gonna do a teaching on that at some point. I actually already kind of have it drafted out, but the Lord, um, had put it on my heart. And honestly, you guys, I'm gonna be honest, it might be a book. Because I, as a therapist and a life coach now and a minister, and, you know, my ministry and all that, you know, all, all combined together, right? I understand the difference, and I've operated in different areas. And as I've grown spiritually, I've been able to help other people as well at a bigger scale as I've grown. Okay, so it's so important that you get clarity on that specifically. On what, what it is that, you know, that you're called to do under the umbrella of healing and deliverance. Okay, so I said amen to that for sure. Yeah, that's right, Miss Robin, absolutely. People say that a lot to me, um, and I'm like, what area though? Like, what, what, how are you able to articulate that to someone who is seeking a life coach who needs healing and deliverance? What does that look like? And I actually have a whole teaching on that too, um, in my program for um, the Christian life coaches as well. So if you're interested in one of my programs, um, I have my assistant Talia can talk to you more about it, give you all the information so you can make the wise decision whether or not you want to join that program or not. Okay. Um, and so yes, and so what's— what I've noticed, like, whenever I first, you know, came into, you know, the life coaching realm and also the therapist, a lot of therapists were a little upset because what happens was we had some life coaches who are trying to provide therapy for people and they're not equipped to do so. And, um, I definitely know that there's some great life coaches out there like myself— hello— who are trained in both. And so because I'm trained in both and I operate in both veins, I'm able to help a client to decide that, hey, you need therapy and life coaching, or right now you just need therapy, or whatever, right? And so a lot of people don't understand what the difference is. And so I will tell you quickly a few things to look for as a life coach if you don't know if your client needs to be in therapy or not. Number 1, if they are suicidal, if they have thoughts of suicide frequently, if they're battling with wanting to harm themselves, they need to go to therapy for sure. They need to go to therapy if they are battling with depression. And sometimes, you know, you might not always see everything they're doing behind the scenes as a life coach, but if they have a hard time doing their homework, if they have a hard time keeping up, they have a hard time being engaged, that can be a clear sign too that they, you know, might need to go see a therapist as well. Okay. Good. Okay. And so with coaching, um, as well, I love coaching. So for me, the people that I draw the most for life coaching really honestly are Fivefold Ministry people, people who are prophets, who are pastors, leaders, uh, who are leading in any capacity. I know that that's who God has called me to, so I draw a lot of them as well. And so, but for me, confidentiality is important, period. Okay. So whether I'm counseling them through therapy or coaching, like, it's, it's between me and them. If they want to share it themselves, their own testimony, or share, you know, the experience with me, sure, go ahead, you go for it, right? But I'm really big on confidentiality because, you know, that's— to me, to me, to me, it's very important that people trust me, okay? All right, just so sorry. No problem. Yeah, that's right, Robin. Okay. Yes, thank you so much. So absolutely, yes. And so, um, now we on this part here. She posted she wanted interested in knowing more about my program. So you guys, my program is the bomb, okay? So I might sound a little biased here on my own stuff, but you know, I'm saying it because I see the fruit of my students and how it has, um, thrust them out into what God's calling them to do. And it's equipping them not just as a life coach, but also their own personal life. And so if you are a therapist looking to become a certified Christian life coach too, my program is much bigger than that. It's going to help you with your personal life. It's going to help you to have clarity in your purpose. It's going to help you to really draw closer to God, understand how to interpret your own dreams and visions. And you can go to my website now. You'll be able to see client testimonials. So far, two of them did videos for me. Um, and so my program is the bomb, okay? So go check it out, okay? So yeah, so I would say, you know, refer out, uh, if you definitely see those, those signs, okay? All right, the next one I want to go over here is mentoring, mentoring, mentor, mentoring, okay? So I'll be honest, so probably about 3 weeks ago, maybe about 4 weeks ago I had pre-recorded a teaching about just the mentor and mentee relationship, and, um, I recorded it and I rewatched it, but I felt like I needed to go a little bit deeper into some things. Okay, and so as I said earlier, you can definitely have a therapist, a life coach, and a mentor all at the same time. Okay, and so a mentor is someone that you see is in a particular, you know, field or place where you desire to be. And because they have mastered that or they're really great at that particular area, they're going to help you to get there faster. They're going to help you to grow and to get there faster. Okay. And so for me, I'm also a mentor and I'm also a mentee. As well. Okay, and so mentors can be someone with a trusted advisor, uh, they can be a role model, people who have been there, done that, right? Um, there are different types of mentors as well. So before I get into that, um, there's different ways you can actually receive mentorship from people. Um, number one is their content. They might have free content like I do on social media. On different platforms. You know, think about people that you look up to now, who you see on social media, who you're always following. They can be like a mentor to you as well from a distance. Okay, then you have books. Okay, your, you know, the person that you admire or you desire to, you know, learn from has books you probably can purchase for you to be able to learn, whether it's in finances, whether it's in, you know, growing spiritually, growing in your, you know, your ministry, um, growing in different areas, okay? And then, uh, they might have mentorship groups. I have mentorship groups, okay, as well. Then, you know, you might have that one-on-one, right? And every mentor is different depending on their schedule, depending on, you know, what they have to offer and so much more. And so let me get into this. So I have counseled clients, um, as far as life coaching and therapy, who are, who were mentors to people on their jobs mentors, the people in their ministry. And I'm continuing to see this like common theme. And you guys, I have to tell you the truth and be honest with you all. It's honor. It is honor, honor, honor, honor. I have seen, I've heard, you know, some of my clients tell me that they don't feel respected. They feel like the mentee does not respect their time or the mentee is not honoring what they give them. Let me give you an example. So I had this client before, and she was a teacher, amazing teacher, so good at what she did. I was trying to get her to create her own mentorship program, um, to help teachers, okay, because she has so much knowledge, okay. And so, you know, she's in the school system, and they always assign her these different, like, mentees, like sometimes 2 or 3 within the school year. That's a lot, to be honest, whenever you have to, you know, teach your students. And she's a, you know, a mom herself, and It's a lot. They have a lot going on. You a teacher, my hat goes off to you. I honor you, okay? I honor you. I'm praying for you really every day, literally, okay? And so, um, she had— she has issues with some of the mentees because it's like they'll email her at the last minute asking for things, expecting her to just jump, or they act like she owe them something. Or they don't honor her time. And when she's asking for something to be done by a certain day, they're not doing it. To me, that is so disrespectful, especially whenever someone is count— is not counseling but mentor— mentoring you pretty much for free, okay? Um, and so can a mentor be someone that you know or don't know? Absolutely, for sure, absolutely. And so let me, let me give you an example, okay? So for me, I definitely paid for mentorship before, and I definitely have also had free mentorship before. So I have my mentor in my profession, um, Dr. Hardy. Some of you guys may know who she is, and I have so much honor for her. I have so much respect for her, um, but we've never blurred those boundaries. What do I— what do I mean by that? Okay, first of all, she's not my therapist, she's not my life coach. Is she my friend? Yeah, I consider her to be a friend, someone that I care for and I love, and I will, you know, help her any way that I can. But there are boundaries there, right? I'm not sitting here asking her 101 questions about her life, and vice versa, right? She doesn't ask me that either. She and I have done so many different things together, but I have so much respect for her. I'm not going to sit here and be all up in her life, okay? If she want me to know something, she'll tell me, for one. Two, I honor her time. So if I'm reaching out to her and saying, hey, I need help in this particular area, you know, I wait for her to respond, but I'm not putting a demand on her where she was— where I'm like entitled to her time and her energy, okay? She's helping me in particular areas of my business, okay? Then I have my mentor, which is also my aunt and my spiritual mom, okay? She's my aunt by marriage, but for over 20 years she has been like my mentor. She has literally discipled me for 20 years. Okay, and so our relationship has changed over the course of 20 years in a great way. And so if I call her right now, she's available, she'll answer the phone because we're family. I love her, but I also have so much honor and respect for her as well. She don't owe me anything. She doesn't owe me nothing. And she always tell me, the best thing you can do to, to really like pay me back is just continue to do what God's calling you to do. Continue to walk out your call and your purpose, right? And so, you know, every relationship looks different, okay? And so I've had people reach out to me before in the past, um, you know, people I don't even know on LinkedIn, you know, especially LinkedIn. Hey, can you mentor me? And I'm like, okay, what do you need mentorship in, right? And I'm showing them what I had to offer, but it's like they don't want— they don't want to invest in— don't want to invest. It's like my time to them is like— they're— it's like they want— they want what I have, but that's it. Like no investment of nothing. Like it's It's really weird to me, but okay, but okay. Um, and so as I said earlier, if you go back for, um, those of you who are getting on now, there's different levels of mentorship. And so, um, also this is for the mentor. So I've seen, um, people who are mentors who allow the boundaries to be blurred too. And so your mentee is not someone that you share and dump all your problems on. Your mentee is not a person where you are, you know, being rude to them, or you're dragging them, or you're telling them what to do, or having all these different things that you expect for them to do for you. That's not how it's supposed to be. And so I always tell people who are, you know, trying to go on this vein of mentorship and mentee is that you guys have to really establish the expectations. Establish the boundaries. Okay, um, so for me, for example, um, you know, I have a mentorship group for Christian therapists now. Um, that's only an example. So now I have a book, you know, for them to read about how to provide Holy Spirit-led counseling. Here, here it is. It's finally published. So far I've got so much great feedback on it. I have it on my website if you want to purchase it as well. Um, really good, really good guide. They kind of help you to like really understand how to incorporate God into therapy. Okay. Um, also, um, I have so much free content out. I have my blogs, I have my YouTube channel now, I have this up here on Instagram, LinkedIn, wherever, because God told me put your content out, continue to put— I want you to still, still mentor them in a way where there's like no expectations, okay? So you can watch it at any given time. I have my podcast, I have so much content out, you guys. Then I have my mentorship group. It's very, very, very, very inexpensive, very inexpensive, okay? It's like $147 for every 3 months. Okay? And so that includes courses. That includes we coming together and we're meeting, right? But really, you're not really covering my time. You're covering the resources, the things that I've learned over the past 15 years to get to where I am today, both spiritually and clinically. So I had people reach out to who want mentorship, like one-on-one. And I'm like, do you know what that costs me? It costs me a lot. And God told me to put it, to create the program just for them. Okay? I'm not going to go into detail more in depth into that, but it's available. And so, yes, I do see people who are charging people crazy, crazy amounts of money just to mentor them. Okay? And so please keep those things in mind. I've also had people who've asked me to mentor them, but they expect way too much. They expect me to be their therapist. They expect me to be everything. And that's not how it's supposed to be. And so you can't have what we call misplaced relationships. And so I've had to learn that whenever I'm encountering any kind of relationship with anybody for any reason, I'm trying to assess, okay, where do they fall in my life? Like, what role is it that God has me for them and vice versa, right? As I shared before, you know, I have my mentor, right, Dr. Hardy. You know, she has poured a lot into me. I've also invested in her financially. I also give if, um, you know, something comes up where she might need me to do something for her and I'm able to do, I'll do it, okay? And vice versa, okay? Um, and so make sure that you are respecting and honoring your mentors. They're human, they have a life, they have career, they have things, um, to do, um, as well, okay? Any questions so far? Thank you all for tuning in, tuning in. So if you just getting on, I'm talking about, um, understanding Uh, what is life coaching, therapy, and mentorship? What it is and what they could look like. So be sure you can go back and you can watch on the replay, um, later if you desire to learn more about that. Okay, as I said before, all three of these can help you to grow tremendously. Having a mentor for me has helped me to avoid some of the pitfalls that I could have encountered. Okay, all righty. All right, that's all I have for you guys today. I want to do a quick teaching, um, on this, um Yeah, I want to talk about some other things, but not, not today. Not today. That'll be for a different day. So again, um, as I said before, if you are a Christian therapist or aspiring to be a Christian therapist, I have this lead— this book here called Holy Spirit Led Counseling: A Guide for Christian Therapists. Um, also my other book, which is very popular, is Unashamed. This is a very popular book that I, I wrote earlier this year. It's a workbook. Uh, for those of you who are battling with shame— can you see it? There we go— battling with shame, I recommend, um, this book as well. So I have many other books, you guys. I'm right now— I'm writing right now, working on, um, and I— when I get the drafts coming in, I'll continue to share what some of those are. So that's all I have for you all today. I'm gonna say a quick prayer and I'm gonna let you guys go. So Father, I thank you right now, God, for every single person who were on— who was on— who came on today during the live. Um, I pray, God, that they were able to understand, um, exactly what I discussed today about Christian therapists, life coaches, and mentors. And so, Father, I ask you, God, to be with them. I ask you, God, to just be around their minds, their, their homes, their finances. God, everything that concerns them, God, it concerns you. So, Father, we thank you and we love you. In Christ's name I pray. Amen. All right, you guys, so I'll talk to you guys on next week. Thank you so much for being here today.
