A speaker tells parents that waiting to feel ready is a trap. Discipline, not motivation, builds the life you want. Your kids inherit what you model: either excuses or the willingness to show up anyway.

I recently been hearing a lot that when we sit down with beautiful people, beautiful people, single moms, couples, mothers, I mean, I feel like there's so many single moms out there today and a lot of them feel like they gotta get things together first. They need to get their ducks in a row. They need to wait. And I started realizing that the lie that the world sells you is that you need to feel ready to get started. Motivation is garbage. Motivation is like sugar. Motivation spikes you for a moment and then it drops you, and eventually you become flat and sometimes break out with eczema. I started realizing that my destiny wasn't gonna bow down just because my alarm clock went off. Destiny starts to bow when I get up when I don't feel like getting up. When I started to break out of excuses, when I felt like not showing up but I showed up anyways. Every single decision that we made was built because we wanted to build our destiny. I started realizing that my kids, if I didn't build our destiny, my kids was going to inherit our excuses. I wanted them to inherit our examples. What will your children learn from you?
