Two speakers discuss cutting out negativity to grow. One argues that surrounding yourself with forward-thinking friends shapes who you become, while the other shares stepping back from family members whose influence held them back. Both stress that leaving behind self-doubt and past mistakes is how you build a new identity.

We are, we hang around with, right? We joke around. We just talked about this, right? If you got a moped, guarantee you got 5 other friends with a moped, right? If you got a souped-up moped, you got 5 other friends with a souped-up moped, right? So you got 5, right, successful, positive, forward-thinking entrepreneur friends, and you probably are one yourself. So association has left us, left me better off. And then negative self-talk, which I think it even starts with that, right? I don't think you don't even start moving really forward in your life without cutting that out, right? Because we live at the level that we speak. So we speak negative, we get negative. So getting rid of negative self-talk is huge.
Yeah, yep. And one thing I think that I cut off that left me better off, and I think that cutting out things maybe can be temporary too, can just be for a season. I remember there was a season where I had to, disconnect from family members because even though they loved us and cared about us, they couldn't help us build the life that we wanted to build or we were trying to build. And so for a season, I remember even my mother just, you know, she was like, you don't care about us anymore. And I'm like, no, the reason why I am distancing myself is because I do care about you folks, right? We feel the biggest honor you can give to your, especially your parents, is to live a life and build a life bigger than what they built themselves, right? Because that's how you show them that they did a good job. And on top of that, I think one of the most important things that I cut off and I left in the past and behind was the past. I think so much people try to drag their past with them into the future. And I remember there was a conscious effort decision where we were like, we're going to create a new identity. We're just going to be brand new. And we just left all that junk in the past, which I guess correlates to negative thinking, right? But some of it's just, like self-worth, self-doubt, self-condemnation, just dumb things we did in the past. We didn't run from them. We just chose not to bring it in the future.
We just chose to not let those things define who we were anymore. Right? We're going to create— we're a new creation. We're going to create a new image, new self-image. Right? Yeah.
