Welcome to Personal Brand Breakthrough. My name is Cheryl Plouffe. I'm really happy you're here. This is the inaugural episode, or I guess show, for Personal Brand Breakthrough. And if you're on my— this group and you've been in this group for a while, you know that I love me some social media, some video, and we're gonna talk about a lot of different things in today's show. So really glad you're here. On today's show, I'm gonna talk about why I'm actually launching a show in the first place, like what is the motivation behind that. I'm also going to share, if we have got some time, I think we will, a simple 2-minute video branding hack that's gonna be able to take your videos kind of to the next level in literally 2 minutes. I also want to talk about which social media platforms are growing with video and which ones are actually declining. So I think it's important information for you to know. I also want to share with you my favorite desktop editing software and give you the explanation of why. So let's get started. So really happy you're here. We are going to be of course talking about a lot of different things today. For those of you who don't know who I am or maybe watching the show for the first time, whether you're watching on Facebook or watching on YouTube, my name is Sheryl Plouffe. I am a video marketing strategist. I come from a long background of broadcasting. So I was a TV broadcaster for 25 years, giving away my age, but that's okay. And now I work with purpose-driven entrepreneurs. I also work with million-dollar-plus companies to help them to leverage video and market better with video and to be able to really scale using video. So, I'm really excited that you're here. If you're part of my group already, then you know that I love to share sort of the behind the scenes of how these videos come to be. On today's show though, we're really going to be focusing in on various different aspects that have to do with social media and branding. And the truth is that with this inaugural show, I don't know what the timing is going to work out to be, so we'll see. But I'm glad that you're here on the journey with me. One thing I would say though is if you are building a business and you have questions, please feel free to ask those questions. Now again, if you're watching on Facebook, you just leave a comment, and if you're watching on YouTube, you can also leave a comment as well. So one thing I would ask though is if you could share this out with your network right now, just use the share button if you're on Facebook. And if you're watching the replay on YouTube, be sure to subscribe to my channel and, and set the notifications to on so that you're notified because you may not be able to watch the show necessarily the day that it's launched. We're all busy entrepreneurs. I get it. I understand how it is, but please feel free. I want this to be interactive. I want to be of service to you and help to answer any questions that you may have because I've had the good fortune here in the last, well, 2 years, 3 years or so to be, you know, building a really successful business in video marketing. And now I really want to share what I know so that I can help you to grow as well. So what I wanted to share with you first was why I'm even launching this show. And I have to give full credit, and I'm going to actually share my computer screen here with you in just a second. Mark Kaye, who is a social media star, he is also a broadcaster, which is probably why I feel some kind of kinship to him. He's the one who kind of got me off my butt in the last few weeks to really just launch the show. This is something I've been thinking about doing for quite a while now, but up to this point I've been creating tons of video. Just not in a show format. I pretty much do video— I do multiple videos pretty much every day. Some of them you see and some of them you don't see because I have private groups and I've got coaching groups and I've got all kinds of different groups that I do videos for. So not all of the videos that I do are actually visible to you, but I do videos every single day and What I know is that if I want— and this is something for you to take away as well— if you want to grow your business, if you want to go to the next level, and if we look at history and we look at what others who forged the road ahead of us have done, they all have shows, right? Amy Porterfield, Marie Forleo, Lewis Howes, Chris Ducker, Derek Halpern, like all of my mentors, Mark Kay. Again, doing shows. And Mark Kay is fantastic. I actually want to show you, actually, if you want to check him out. Um, where is Mark Kay? Here he is. So he does— he's in, I think, North Florida. But Mark Kay does a show on the radio, and he is a very successful broadcaster. But he also does a thing called 1000shows.com, and I think I can go back to it here, but in any case, worth checking out. I think it's up here, 1000shows.com. It's fantastic because it really lays the groundwork for you if you want to launch a show. So the reason that I'm launching a show is because I want to, probably just as you do, want to take my business to the next level, and I know that that's one of the pieces of the equation. Rather than doing all of my videos, you know, here and there, private private-public, blah blah blah. It's, it's packaging it. That's really what this is about. It's about packaging my expertise and, and knowledge and insights and sharing them with you in a format that's predictable and consistent. And so that's really the premise behind it all. So that's why I'm starting to, to launch the show. One thing I wanted to say is, now, can I do this? If I want to see your comments, I don't know that I can see them. I'm gonna go over to Facebook actually, and just in fact, let's do that right now. Let's check in on Facebook and see if I can see your questions. I'll answer them as we go. So just give me one second. I didn't— I never promised that this would go entirely smoothly. I never promised that. Okay. So here we are. And I do intend to do the show every Thursday at 2 PM Eastern Time, live on Facebook. It will be live in this group, and it will also be broadcast on YouTube later in the day on Thursday. So always be published on Thursdays. So excited about that. So Tuesdays— and, and the thing is to ask me questions, you know, and feel free if you're watching the replay type in, type replay in the comments so that I know that. And, oh, thanks Carol. I do have a lot to share. I do have a lot to share. Thank you for sharing, Trish. I appreciate that. I think you shared it, I can't tell. Christine would love to learn how you're doing this live video. Okay, yes, you know what? I will do that, Christine. For another episode, I'll explain kind of the premise of how I'm doing all of this. No problem at all. But what I wanted to do right now for you guys is show you a simple 2-minute branding hack with the— and it actually has to do with the watermark. So let me just go in here. I don't know if I can show you this. Let me— now I'm just questioning whether I can actually do this all on my phone. I may not be able to. I think I'm going to have to— now that I'm thinking about this, I don't think I can do this in the moment despite my promising it to you. But I'm going to do it. I'll do a quick video tutorial and post it. In the comments afterwards because I just realized I'm using my phone, Christine, to do the show. So I have to use my phone to show you how to do the watermark. So I'll have to do a separate tutorial. So there's my first mistake. And you know what? Here's the thing too. A lot of people will put off doing a show or a video or a training or creating a PDF because they're fearful that they're not going to get it right. Listen, You know, it doesn't— nothing's gonna go entirely smoothly with everything that you do, case in point, but it's how you deal with it, right? So in my mind right now, I'm thinking, I'm just gonna do a video and I'll post it later, it's all good. So let's move on to video and social media because there's some amazing— there's always a ton of statistics out there, right? One of the statistics that I read has to do with social media and video on platforms that are growing and some that are declining. And I really wanted to share these statistics with you today. So when we look at LinkedIn, now LinkedIn was kind of slow to the game in terms of allowing people to post their videos on LinkedIn. You could previously to about maybe, I don't even know, 5 months, 6 months ago, you You could put— you could post an article on LinkedIn, but it was difficult to do a video because it didn't have that capability. You can't livestream from LinkedIn, but now you can at least do a video and record a video. I think on your desktop and also on your mobile. So LinkedIn video, it's really a breakout year for LinkedIn video. 2018 is going to see content on— video content on LinkedIn grow— actually, it's 38% right now and it's going to grow and rise to 55% this year. So the number of marketers sharing video content on LinkedIn is around 38% now and is going to rise to 55% in 2018. Why this is important to you or how it can be important to you and your business is if your audience is on LinkedIn and, and you can reach them and captivate them with with video, it's a great time to do it because there's a huge— how do we say it— uptick. But a lot of people are growing with the video, like they're really embracing the videos. So if your market— let's say I have a client who is in HR. He's an HR— he works with companies, small companies that don't have their own HR departments, and his audience is clearly on LinkedIn. It's It's clearly there. So for him, it would be a really great strategy to start using more, more video as a way to promote himself and market himself because there's so much growth and adoption, that's the word, adoption of video on LinkedIn because it's new, right? Snapchat video though continues to flounder for brands. Just 11% used it in 2017. And that number is set to fall even further to 9% this year in 2018. Now, my audience is not necessarily on Snapchat. However, I do still like to use Snapchat for personality videos, I call them, as part of my video trifecta. And I have these 3 videos that I believe are the foundation and core of a really robust video marketing plan and strategy. And one of them is the personality video. And I like to use Snapchat for their filters to have some fun. To be able to do these little quick little videos and show that, "Hey, I'm fun. I can laugh at myself. I can, you know, do myself up like a little lamb and have a good laugh." So, that's really one of the good uses. But you've got to look at it and say to yourself, you know, "Is my audience even on Snapchat?" and whether or not you want to spend your time and energy in there from a video standpoint, that, that number continues to decline. So something that you want to maybe keep in mind, and I'm happy to answer questions anytime. So if you want to post questions in the comments, if you're watching on Facebook, and if you're on YouTube right now, just leave a comment. I'm happy to get back to you on that. So which social media platforms are growing with video? LinkedIn, And which are declining with video? Snapchat, definitely for sure. So now I wanted to, let me just check in and see, let me just check in here and see, and there I am right there. Let's see, Trish says, "Being fun sometimes is good 'cause not everyone wants to be serious." Absolutely, Trish, and this is the thing, we take ourselves way, way too seriously. This is why I love working with you. Thanks, Christine, appreciate that. "Making mistakes is how we learn." It is indeed, Carol. You're so right. And then Max says, "How do we become part of the little TV on the bottom of our Apple iPhone?" Sorry, "Become part of the little TV on the bottom of our Apple iPhone." I'll have to come back to that, Max. I'm not entirely sure. Let me find out what that means. But yeah, that's very cool. So, so yes. Let's see, to Trish. To Trish, your point about being, not being serious, you know, all the time. One of the things that I think that broadcast— sorry, that entrepreneurs who really need to consider themselves as being broadcasters now, because I believe every entrepreneur needs to be like a mini media company these days. One of the things that people miss too often is this sense of being serious all the time. And the truth is that difficult to build rapport if you are, if you take yourself too seriously and if you never have a laugh and you never lighten up and you don't have any kind of levity in your content or how you deliver your content. So I really suggest and advise that there has to be a balance and this is something that I talk about. I'm actually putting together right now a another free giveaway. It's called the Video Trifecta. And actually, if you're interested, message me and I'll be sure to get it to you when it's ready. The Video Trifecta essentially are 3 smartphone videos that you can create in minutes that help you to get more reach, get more audience, and get more leads. And one of the videos in that trifecta is about that, exactly that. It's just having fun and not taking yourself too seriously, and it goes a long, long, long way, Trish, to building your audience. And it's something that a lot of people miss and don't do enough of. So really great observation. So now I want to show you my favorite desktop editing software of choice and why. So to do that, let me bring up a little video here. This is just a short video, and if I play this out, you should see it here. Let me just close that. There's my son, there's his friend, and watch what he does here. It's actually pretty funny. He's obviously a Chicago Blackhawks fan, but he's— and there's Nigel. So they're obviously photobombing me in the back, and I have no idea. But in any case, the— this video editing software is called Camtasia, and I recommend this because because here, and I'll show you, if you want to check it out for yourself, um, all you have to do is go to CherylPlouffe.com/Camtasia, and I believe you can do a, a free trial before you decide to use it. It's very affordable, it's, uh, under $200, one-time fee, so very affordable as editing software goes. The thing I love about it is that not only can you bring in media and be able to, you know, utilize videos that you've pre-recorded. But you can also use it as a screen capture software. So, what that means is I would go up to this button at the top here and click that. I could start recording here. Let's say I want to show me. Okay, so here's me. Hi! And I can start recording like this and it will probably count me down. So, 2, 3, 3, 1. Okay, so I'm talking like this. Now all of what I'm capturing here, and let's say I did want to share my screen, which I didn't set in this case, but I could. I will then stop the recording and you'll see that it pops up here. So now I can use this piece of video in my video. You see how that works? So not only can you put in pre-recorded stuff, but you can also capture your computer screen, yourself, a combination of both. You don't know how many video trainings that I have done and created in this manner. And so, it's very, very powerful for a very affordable price. And that's part of the reason why I love it. There are some other benefits to it as well. Motion graphics and all kinds of great support. I mean, it goes on and on. This is not meant to be any kind of advertising for for it at all by any means. Although you are looking at my partner link here on the bottom of the screen, um, I think they might send me enough money for a cup of coffee at some point in the future. But more importantly, it puts me on their radar, which is more important to me than the cup of coffee. So if you want to use that partner link, feel free. If you don't, that's totally fine. The company is called TechSmith and the platform is called Camtasia. I would highly, highly recommend that check it out if you don't already have a desktop editing software or program or you're not happy with the one you have. Like for instance, I, for whatever reason, just couldn't— I just couldn't do iMovie. I know it sounds crazy because I'm an Apple girl through and through. But for whatever reason, I had trouble with iMovie. And when I discovered this, I actually started with ScreenFlow years ago and then when I went to Camtasia, I It literally changed my life, and I have created so many— I basically have created a 6-figure business partly because of this program, this $200 program, you know. So I've created tons of videos for myself, my clients. I've done trainings, I've done tutorials, both private and public. I've created courses with it. I have done literally everything with this program. So, would highly, highly recommend it. So, I'm just going to go back. Let's just go back here. And actually, I'll show you one of the cool things about Camtasia is that— now, where would this be? Somewhere in here, probably. Right here. These tutorials, right? So, Camtasia has a bunch of tutorials. I'm already logged in here. But once you are logged in, you can— you get all of these transitions animations, effects. Actually, the intro that I did for this show was created by using this platform and these resources, and it goes on and on. So really fantastic stuff, would highly, highly recommend it, and it's really good. So let me just check in on Facebook and see if anybody has any comments because I'm here to answer. All right. Hi, Avia, nice to see you. Is it Mac-friendly? Yes, it's both. In fact, when it first— when I first started using it, it was— there was a Mac version and a PC version. And then in October of last year, was it, or the year before, I can't remember, they merged it. So now it's just the one platform, thank goodness, for both, right? So you just download it and put it on your PC or on your Mac. There are, I think, some differences in how you would access some of the free resources that you get once you are a TechSmith customer and you have Camtasia, depending on whether you have PC or Mac. But in terms of the use of the tool itself, it's applied now for both, which is fantastic. But you really can't beat it. There are a ton of different editing softwares out there. Like, I mean, you could— and I never did learn Final Cut Pro, but as a broadcaster, you know, that's what we used to create our broadcast quality video. Um, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere is another one you'll hear a lot about. iMovie is something that of course a lot of people have access to because it comes with your Mac. Um, but for me, Camtasia is, is everything I need. It has all the bells and whistles that that I could ever want and need to create the videos that I want to create for myself and my clients. So I absolutely love it. I think it's fantastic. So I would say, again, if you want to give that a try, feel free to do that. Now, the other thing that I wanted to tell you about as I wrap up the show— how we doing for time? 2:21?— is that I am opening enrollment to my Inner Circle. And the Inner Circle is really, it's home to the, uh, the 30-day video challenge. And the 30-day video challenge is essentially 30 days of consecutive video making on your part within this private group. And there are 47 of us, myself included, in the group right now. And And it's a clients-only group. In that group, and you can message me if you're interested and I can tell you all the details about that. It's a clients-only group and it's home to the 30-Day Challenge. And I'm excited about this because in the last, well, since November, we have, I cannot tell you how much growth people have had in this group. Carol, I know you're in the group. Max is in the group. You know, Christine's in the group, so you guys can attest. And you just let me know in the comments, and I'd be curious to know what your thoughts are on it, and others can see. But it is, it is amazing what kind of growth you can experience in 30 days of commitment. And that's what really this, this safe haven place is. It's training ground essentially for your videos, for you to communicate effectively without a script script and speak from the heart and be able to be authentic and real and genuine and all of that wonderful stuff. So if you're interested to know more, just message me. I'd be happy to reach out to you and tell you how that works, but it's something that I'm really excited about. And the Inner Circle has been really, you know, a labor of love over the last many, many months and has been just blowing my mind with the amount of growth that's been happening there. If you're watching on Facebook, please share this video out with your network. And if you are watching on YouTube, watching the replay, I'm going to be posting this video every Thursday on my YouTube channel. Please subscribe to my channel. Please set your notifications so that you're notified every week that I broadcast Personal Brand Breakthrough. And the whole idea here is to help you to grow your brand and grow your business. So if you have any questions at all about anything we've covered today, or questions that you might like me to broach in an upcoming episode, please be sure to leave your questions so that I can go back and put that on my list and be able to address those in an upcoming episode. Thank you so much for watching the inaugural Personal Brand Breakthrough Show with me, and I'm really happy that you're here, and I'm looking forward to answering your questions in upcoming episodes. Thank you so much for watching, and bye for now.
