In this informal, on‑the‑go video, video‑marketing strategist Sheryl Plouffe announces the launch of Instagram’s IGTV and walks viewers through what the new service is, how it works, and why it matters for entrepreneurs and content creators. She explains that IGTV is Instagram’s answer to YouTube, offering vertical, long‑form video (up to one hour) that can be uploaded via the Instagram app or the web. Sheryl demonstrates the basic steps to get started: download the IGTV app, create a channel linked to an existing Instagram account, upload a vertical video, and use the IGTV badge that appears in the main Instagram app. She also highlights the ability to link IGTV videos from Instagram Stories, noting that the feature is not limited to accounts with large followings. Throughout, she emphasizes the strategic opportunity for brands and creators to reach Instagram’s massive user base at the ground level, positioning IGTV as a powerful tool for building a personal brand, expanding reach, and driving business growth. She invites viewers to ask questions in the comments and offers personal consulting for those who want to leverage video to grow their business.

It's IGTV launch day. Today we're going to talk about what IGTV is, what it means to you, and how to get started on the platform. And yes, I am on a school bus. So this is going to be a blast today. I really, really hope that you guys can hear me. We've got some music on in the bus. I'm in— yeah, I'm on the school bus right now. I was at my son's field trip today, and I am doing this totally rogue. So we will see how this goes. But the reason why I'm doing this from the bus is because I've committed to doing the show for you every Tuesday, or rather every Thursday at 2 PM. And IGTV launched today, and it's a big, big thing. My name is Sheryl Plouffe. I'm a video marketing strategist, and I'm really, really jazzed about this platform because basically what's happened is that Instagram IG, Instagram TV has launched launched today. This is Instagram's bid to go after YouTube, and this is long-form programming. It's a platform for long-form programming basically on Instagram. So this is really important for content creators. Now some people think that IGTV is really only for people like celebrities who've got millions and millions of followers, but I would argue that, and I would say that Instagram is, or IGTV rather, is also great for any content content creator, frankly. It's just a really great opportunity to jump in on a platform at the ground level and really start creating great content. Now, some things to keep in mind, right? One thing is that the videos are vertical. The vertical, right? Up and down rather than long like the way that you're seeing this right now. So that's one consideration. But let's show you, this is IGTV, and basically what's going on is that the CEO of Instagram, Kevin Systrom, has said that it's time for video to move forward and evolve. So IGTV is for watching long-form videos from your favorite creators. And how it works is that it's not just for big-time celebrities, it's for, um, anyone who wants to upload vertical videos through Instagram's app or on the web. So I'm excited about that, to be able to upload them from the web. Everyone except the smaller and newer accounts— they don't go into specifics on what number of followers you need to have to have this capability, they'll be able to upload hour-long programming. So we're talking about long-form programming now on IGTV. That's what's really, really exciting about it. So today is the day that it launched. I want to show you briefly how to do it, and, and then we're going to talk about why I think you ought to do it. So let me show you a brief tutorial on how this works. So what you're going to do, step 1, is you're going to go to your app store and you're going to look for IGTV. You're going to download download the app, okay? So you download the IGTV app, and once you have that downloaded, you're gonna follow the prompts, and the prompts will say create a channel, and you go in and again, you have to have an Instagram account, right? So let's just preface that. But once you create a channel, you'll want to upload your very first video. You'll, you'll record a video and you'll upload it to your new IGTV channel. Once you do that, you're going to see now back on your Instagram account, you'll see an emblem, and I've circled it here on the screen for you, that shows you, it says IGTV. So now people will be able to access your IGTV from the Instagram app itself. Another cool thing, and I learned this from Mark Kay today, is that you can actually link your Instagram Stories to IGTV. And you— I don't have a snapshot of that, but you'll see the little rings, the little link rings, when you do a story, and you can link to IGTV. So that's really cool. You don't have to have 10,000 followers to do it. So thanks, Mark, for pointing that out to me a little bit earlier today. So this is really, really exciting. And I would say this, if you're someone who needs to build your brand, you need to have a very important message that you want to get out into the world, Instagram, billions of people are on Instagram, but IGTV, I believe, is going to be huge, huge. Long-form programming, up to an hour, vertical videos that you upload to the platform. So if you're doing a show, then Instagram Now is becoming an option because before this you could only upload up to a minute of video. So now you can upload up to an hour through this new platform. So if you're getting your— trying to get your message out to more people, build your audience, get more reach, reach more people, you know, build a following, maybe you're growing a business, any platforms that— so long as you feel that your audience is there, are worthwhile pursuing. If you know that your audience is on Instagram, if you know that, then IGTV is a no-brainer for you. It's a great idea to jump on this platform, and what's exciting is that today's the launch, so you're in at the ground level, which is really exciting as well. So I would highly encourage you, if you have any questions— like, I'm on my phone right now, so I can't actually check any messages on my Facebook— so if you have questions about IGTV, and listen, I'll be honest with you, I'm learning along with you. Okay, there's lots to learn, but if you know anything about me, when I'm posed with a question and I don't know the answer, I will go out and find the answer for you. So let me know in the comments below if you have any questions about it. I will go ahead and try to find the answer and respond to you, but I would highly encourage you to look at IGTV and say to yourself, is this a platform I want to be on? And I think the answer should be yes, especially if you are a content creator and especially if you are a video creator. So I will leave you leave you with that thought. If you're not a video creator yet and you want to be, and you want to know how I was able to reach 6 figures with online video in my first year of business, I would encourage you to get in touch with me. Leave a comment below and just say, "Hey Cheryl, would love to chat," and we can jump on the phone and talk about a strategy to get you started with video in your business. So I will leave you with that. I hope you've been able to hear this entire broadcast, and I will talk to you guys soon. Go and download the IGTV app and get started Bye, you guys, and I'll see you soon.
