Add Intros & Extros To Facebook Live

Sheryl Plouffe shows how to add branded intros and outros to Facebook Live using Ecamm Live and Switcher Studio. Ecamm imports video files on desktop and plays them before switching to your live feed. Switcher Studio does the same from your phone's camera roll with a single tap, and works across YouTube and other platforms too.

In early 2018, I published a video called How to Add Intros and Extros to Your Facebook Live Streams. Well, a lot can change in a year, so I'm updating the video to show you 2 tools today that you can use to allow you to add custom intros and extros to your live streams on Facebook. My name is Sheryl Plouffe. I'm a video strategist. I work with entrepreneurs and small business owners to help them create a communication strategy with video. Of course, branding is really important, and if you want to add some branding elements, and that might include intros and outros, it can really help to elevate the perceived value of those videos that you create. So let me show you two tools today that can help you in this area. The first tool is called Ecamm, E-C-A-M-M, and I'm going to put it up on the screen right now and show you how it would work. So this is Ecamm, and it is a program that you purchase and that you download to your computer, and. And I want to show you an example of how you could add— I'm going to just add an intro in this case, but you can imagine that you can do the same thing with an outro. Really what it is is just a separate video file that you can add at the beginning and at the end of your live streams to give it, you know, some substance and some elements there. So what I would do is I would go up to the source button here, and you can see that if you go down to video file, you can choose a file from your computer. Again, I'm presuming that you have the video intro or extro in this case already produced and it's living on your computer. So you would go into choose file and you would find it from your computer and add it into the program. In this case here, I've got this older intro that I can even play as an example, but I would click this and you'd see this now on the screen. Now I do have to press the play button. I'm not gonna play it through the entire thing, but that's how it would work. Then you would have to come back up to the camera button at the top to bring yourself back on camera. So that's how it could work. And again, you would need to time it out on your livestream to however it is that you want to do it. Add your intro at the beginning. You might want to start with you on camera and then do the intro and then come back on camera. But you have control of that entire functionality here with the top bar on the top. That's Ecamm, and that's how you could add intros and extros to your livestreams. Now let me show you the one that I think is even better for a variety of different reasons. It's called Switcher Studio, and I'm going to show you and mirror my phone onto the screen to show you how that would work. I'm mirroring my phone that's mirroring a phone. This is Switcher Studio. How it works is that you go and add different elements to your broadcast. In this case, I will go to my camera roll and find the intro or extro in question, and I'll add it as an element to my broadcast. Once it's there, all I have to do is touch it, tap it, and trigger that introduction to play. And once it's completed, I go and tap on the other elements of the broadcast. It could be me on video, for example. It's a really great platform to be able to add not only intros and outros, but frankly, any element that you would like to add to your live streams. Plus, it's not just for Facebook, it's for YouTube and other platforms as well. It's fantastic. I hope you found this useful. I am @sherylplouffe pretty much everywhere on social media. I would love to connect with you there. And by all means, if you have any questions about video production and how to make it simple so that you can utilize and leverage video as a communication strategy to grow your business, that's my specialty. Can't wait to hear from you, and I'll see you in the next video.
