Attracting Your Audience Is Also A Spiritual Thing with Matthew Gardner

Matthew Gardner, founder of Phoenix Rising United, lost his fiancée in 2020 and rebuilt his approach to business around spiritual principles. Instead of traditional marketing tactics, he uses a "zero assumption, zero insistence" mindset to attract audiences through intuition and energetic alignment. He created the Quantum Elite Community for entrepreneurs in network marketing who want to build business through connection rather than pure profit.

at. Maybe you do think you know who your ideal clients and customers are, or that your audience is, and then maybe they're not. So today we're going to dig into all of things about attracting audience, attracting your ideal clients and customers. I met Matthew Gardner not that long ago, and he is a personal transformation specialist. He is the founder of Phoenix Rising United. Matthew, love to have you here on this pop-up interview today because You have an interesting story as it pertains to finding who your ideal audience is. I'd love for you to share that with the audience.
Absolutely. Yeah, thanks, Cheryl. It's great to be here. And I think sharing our gifts and wisdom is the ultimate passion for me anyway, the ultimate form of self-expression. And that to me is the journey of finding your audience, so to speak, or allowing your audience to find you. And I think it's just as much part of our personal development and growth to find who our tribe is. And I think, you know, in some marketing circles— and there's no right or wrong approach because everyone's just doing it their way, and their way is their way, and there's nothing right or wrong about it— but for me, it's been a spiritual journey to finding my people. And, and that's obviously a whole idea of personal transformation. And just a little bit of background, just so people have an awareness of like how I even ended up here. And how I utilize the mechanisms that I do to find my people. Um, the idea of Phoenix Rising United is about being reborn from the ashes, and the idea that every, every moment really is an opportunity to be reborn into a brand new version of ourselves. And the idea of, you know, death and dying is actually not a negative thing, where every, every day is a brand new day. So yesterday's gone, it's, it's dead, so to speak, you could say. But when we look at life like, hey, my thoughts and my beliefs are always shedding away like the, the skin from a snake or something to that effect, and I'm rediscovering new aspects of who I truly am, then that's really what it's all about in terms of being reborn into a brand new understanding of life. And it's that process we're going through with our audience development as well, and I want to get to that. What really inspired this for me was the passing of my late fiancée in April. Of last year, 2020. She passed away from terminal cancer, and I realized that up until that point, you know, I'd been doing the right things as to the best of my ability, the way I knew. But her passing opened me up to a whole new level of spiritual understanding and consciousness in terms of how reality actually functions and the level of support that's actually here. So I think that's fundamentally the key when you're starting off to discover your audience, is knowing that You're always supported in what you're doing, whether you're aware of it or not, consciously or unconsciously. And also that if you're excited and passionate to deliver a message, there are people out there to discover it. But it may not be the people that you think, just like, you know, often when we find like our, our spouse or something like that, it's like not the way we'd expect or, you know, things don't unfold the way that we would assume that they would. So the two fundamental keys that I bring into the picture when I'm working with people developing communities, which is one of my specialties, is having zero insistence and zero assumption about what it needs to look like. But simultaneously, having a keen awareness for what's the enthusiasm, what's the energetic state that you're in, because that's ultimately what's going to magnetize the people. And this is, in some cases, a dramatically different approach than a marketing strategy.
I was just thinking exactly the same thing. That was going to be my next question because we often— and I myself included, we attack this from a marketing perspective. It's like, figure out your ICA, you know, who is your ideal client avatar? And we do these exercises to figure that out. And but what you're doing is looking at it from an energetic level. I just wanted to interject, Matthew, before you continue, if you are listening on LinkedIn Live, you're on YouTube, you're on Facebook or Periscope or wherever you're watching this from right now, please leave comments or questions for Matthew. We see some of them here in the chat on Restream. And we'll be sure to come back and answer any and all questions you may have. And Matthew's going to make himself available to do that. So we just want to make sure that you get your questions answered and that you take advantage of the opportunity to ask a question. So yeah, let's go back to that. So the marketing perspective versus the spiritual approach. And so when you realized— and obviously, you know, you had this devastating loss in your life with your fiancé passing, um What kind of results did that mean for you in terms of like clarity of your audience? What did it result in?
Well, I realized first and foremost that the people that I serve are not necessarily the people that I would have wanted to been serving. That was the kind of the big thing first and foremost, because I think there's even an egotistical part of your marketing is like, well, I should be serving this type of person or whatever. In some cases it works out that way. But in my own personal journey, I realized that the people that are really open to this spiritual concept of life— and I call it fifth dimensional consciousness— they're totally different than a lot of the people that I was initially targeting. Because I went through the Avatar exercises and I've worked with different— we all do, you know, and a lot of us have done that and spent hundreds or thousands of dollars trying to figure it out. Yeah. And, and, you know, it looked good what I'd created, but it wasn't really attracting the quality of people that I was looking for, and they weren't like getting what I was doing. So I'm like, what, what good is that if it's not actually helping the people in the way that I know that it can? So, um, it's been a little bit confusing during my journey because I do have a very small group of clients that are like, like high net worth, doing lots of revenue, and, and they're really into this sort of work. And, and I thought, maybe that's my avatar. So I spent a lot of last year after recovering from the emotional, um, grieving process from my fiancée's passing and looking for more of these people because I've got one or two of them and they're like amazing. Um, but the more that I looked into these like mid-six-figure earners, seven-figure earners, eight-figure earners, as much as they were saying like, hey, where our heart's in it and that, there is still definitely a monetary driver that came before that sort of thing. And, and there's nothing wrong with that. But that's just not who I am. So I'm like, ah, it's just not fitting in. So like, what do I do? And then just through what I use the term synchronicity, which is about being at the right place at the right time with the right people, following that flow, I actually had someone reach out to me who's the leader of this community that goes on for— there's, I think he has about 3,000 people or so, uh, in his network through the different businesses that he's in. And they're looking exactly for this like quantum energy this following that flow type of thing. And, and, you know, it took a few times for us to figure out how to actually make it work, but now we're actually— we've created his own community called the Quantum Elite Community, and it's for people that are, you know, struggling because of COVID or they're, they're just getting out of— like, they're in their job, they want to have their own business. And it's more geared towards network marketing, affiliate marketing, which are two industries that I kind of like, you know, X'd out of my reality because, because there's a lot of negative connotations. But when I viewed it from a different angle and how I could actually assist those types of people, then it came together. And it's not in the traditional sense of network marketing, like that's not what I'm doing necessarily, but I'm helping the leaders organize their teams and focus on the community aspect rather than the business and the money. And it's become very fulfilling, and it's just magnetically started to take on a life of its own.
Yeah, I love that. So what I've really gained from this conversation is that we need to be tapped into our spiritual kind of awareness. Um, it sounds like we also need to kind of take the blinders off and recognize that who you think you're wanting to attract may not indeed be the right person to help you grow in the business that you want to grow in. And I know that this is some of the work that you do with people, and I really appreciate you jumping in. Where these interviews, these pop-up interviews as they were, are intended to be short nuggets of wisdom from people who are in the trenches, people who are doing the work, people who are committed such as yourself, Matthew. And I really appreciate you being in. What I'd love for you to do, Matthew, if you would, is to share, maybe pop into like the video in Facebook or YouTube or wherever and just put your contact information or send it to me so I can put it in there. So, if anyone is watching this on any platform, that you can look below this video and reach out to Matthew if you see fit and want to kind of continue the journey with him. And I appreciate, of course, if you share this with your network, Matthew. But any final words, any parting words of wisdom from you on attracting an ideal audience?
Well, I think it's all about being yourself, and, and that's the main thing that I teach my students. It's about igniting your intuition and unlocking your full creative potential. And I do host a free masterclass, which you're Audience is welcome to attend. It's every Sunday at 2 PM Eastern time, and you'll have the link there, phoenixrisingmasterclass.com, to, to attend. But when you, when you're just being yourself and you're in tune with who you are and you're allowing yourself to express yourself creatively, that's when it all comes together. From, from my experience, I've been trying to figure this out for 8 or 9 years, and everyone's journey is different. But if you're listening to that inner voice, then you can't go wrong., and you will discover that you've always been supported on your entrepreneurial journey. So, I'd love to assist you and I hope you gain value from everything that I shared today.
Well, thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your story. And I know you do this. This is part of your mission to help as many people as you can to be able to find this sort of sense of enlightenment and be able to help them to grow on their journey as well. So, Matthew Gardner, thank you so much for jumping in today and being here on Cash In On Camera. Really appreciate your time.
Thank you, Cheryl.
