How To Get More Viewers On Facebook Live

Sheryl Plouffe shows how to schedule Facebook Live up to seven days ahead using the +Live button and schedule option. Custom thumbnails disable the reminder feature, so you have to choose between branding and notifications. Recurring shows work better with consistent cover art, a series name, and the same day and time each week.

Hi, it's Sheryl Plouffe here, video marketing strategist, and today I want to show you how you can let your audience know that you're going live on Facebook up to 7 days in advance. So how do you give them a bit of a heads up so that they can set a reminder and join you for your Facebook Live? Right. We want to get as many people on our live broadcasts as possible. So I'm on my Facebook page. Go to your page and click on publishing tools. Once you get to publishing tools, you'll see that there's a little button over on the right-hand side that says +Live. Now don't worry if you press +Live, it doesn't mean that you're going to be going live right away. But what happens is you click this button and a new window opens. When you open that window, you're going to see two options at the top. I would disregard the connect piece of it, but you can also click on your camera and actually you'll see me. Hi! But more importantly, you go over to the right-hand inside, and you'll see that there is a schedule button, right? So just disregard all this connecting to livestream and Live API. We don't really need to worry about that right now. But what you do want to do is go down to schedule. Now, of course, you can choose, you know, which page you want this to come from. So for instance, for me, I'd want this to come from my page. And you could say something about the live video that you plan to do. You could give it a title. You can, of course, add some tags if you see appropriate, what have you. So then you're going to go here to schedule, and what happens here is you will choose up to 7 days in advance when that Facebook Live is going to happen. Let's just say it's Friday at, you know, 5 PM. I'm just going to use that as an example. Now, my time zone is set to Eastern. So yours could be different, but you set it up for the date and time of your choosing and you will see now people in your feed will see this announcement. It will say Friday at 5 PM, Sheryl Plouffe plans to go live. And when they click this, they get a reminder from Facebook that you're going to go live. Now, some people would like to add a new image here. The only thing I would just warn you of is that you lose the get reminder functionality if you decide to upload your own image. So you could go to Canva, as an example, and create something that looks a little jazzy, you know, maybe pops a little bit more, and upload that image to replace what we're seeing on this piece of the screen. But you're not going to have that get reminder functionality. So it's really a choice that you have to make. So let's say that's what you plan to do. Now I'm not gonna hit schedule, but if I did hit schedule, then all of a sudden, you know, that is going to become a reminder that's set out for people to join you on your actual broadcast, on your Facebook Live. And that's a great way to get more people engaged with your content, get more people to join you live. And you'd want to, you know, encourage them to set reminders. And then also, as an aside, keep reminding them, keep posting about it, keep talking about the Facebook Lives. And if you are doing a regular series or you're doing your Facebook Lives on a specific date and time week after week, then what you can do as an advanced strategy is you could use your cover art on your Facebook page to let people know about that. I go live every Wednesday at 1:00 PM or whatever that is. And if you have a name for your show, put that on your artwork. Okay, so I hope those strategies help you getting people on your Facebook Lives, live videos. Is awesome because you can get that engagement, you can really help people and add value to the marketplace, and ultimately you get to build your brand in the process.
