How To Multistream Zoom Meetings Using Restream

Set up Zoom to broadcast to multiple platforms at once using Restream. Enable custom live streaming in Zoom settings, grab your RTMP URL and stream key from Restream, paste them into Zoom's live streaming settings, then select "Live on custom live streaming service" when you start your meeting. Note: Restream's production features only work when you stream from Restream itself, not from Zoom.

to YouTube, to my Facebook group, to my Facebook page, to Periscope, and if I did have LinkedIn Live capability, to LinkedIn, which I don't yet. This works like a charm because you're already doing those Zoom meetings and maybe you're broadcasting it to one platform like a YouTube or to a Facebook, which I've been doing for many, many months. But now we're taking it to the next level and broadcasting that to multiple platforms allows you to reach more people and get your message in front of more people. The thing to keep in mind is that if you in the future decide to use the live studio function within Restream to originate your training, that's a different thing. That allows you to see all of the comments in the Restream platform. What we're doing today is we're originating it on the Zoom meeting. So the first thing you need is a Zoom meeting. The second thing you need is a Restream.io account. If you don't have that, look for the link in the description. And let's get started. So the first thing we want to do is make sure that Restream and Zoom are talking to each other and that the necessary permissions have been given so that we can do this. And so I'm in my Zoom account, and what you'll do is log in. On the left-hand side under Admin, you'll want to click over to Account Management, and there is a section called Account Settings. So click on account settings and then you're going to want to scroll down quite far down on the page until you get to a section called allow live streaming meetings. That toggle button needs to be turned on and you want to make sure that custom live streaming service, the checkmark, the checkbox is ticked on in this case. Now there is no save button here. You'll just make sure that the button is checked and you should be good to go. So now let's go back over to Restream and in Restream we're going to find the RTMP settings. So you can see that I'm under, uh, destinations under dashboard here. So I'm clicking on RTMP settings and this will reveal your RTMP URL as well as your stream key. So this part here, let me go back to Zoom for a moment. You're going to want to open up the meeting in question, the meeting, the Zoom meeting that you want to stream to multiple platforms through the Restream, um, Restream service. So find the meeting in question. I'll go find mine now. So what I've done is I have clicked on my meeting. I just scrolled down so that I could save that information and keep it private. But open your meeting, scroll down to the bottom of your page, and look for the part that says live streaming. So you click on live streaming and it will reveal some information here. There's a little edit, edit button on the right-hand side. So when you click on the little button, you'll see that it reveals a stream URL. It asks for a stream key and a live streaming page URL. So this part here, the stream URL comes here. So all you'll do is you'll copy this piece here, and then you come back over to Zoom and you'll paste that in this section. Come back to Restream. So it helps to have both windows open at the same time, makes it easy. You're going to copy that, come back over here and paste that in this section. And the last part here is that They want you to post a URL to any destination that you plan to share this Zoom meeting to through Restream. And it doesn't really matter which URL you choose because you only have one option here. So in this case, I just chose my Facebook group because that's one of the destinations that I have chosen to share my broadcast to through Restream. You can see here on the, on the left-hand side, I have all of these different destinations chosen. But in the event that I created, so let me go over here to the events. For this event, I have chosen to share it to YouTube, to Facebook, my group Facebook, my page, Periscope as well. The Periscope isn't working just yet, but it's going to by next week. So I just had to reload it. Upload it again. So these are the platforms that I have chosen to share to. So it doesn't really matter. You can choose this URL, this URL, or your YouTube URL. In my case, I chose my Facebook group URL, and that is just here. So let me show you where I get that from. So this is my group, and all I do is copy the URL at the very top of the page. And then I will post that in this section right here. So now all you have to do is start your Zoom meeting just like you normally would. And if you have ever done this before where you shared your Zoom meeting to YouTube or to Facebook, and in fact, if you want to know how to do that only to one platform, you can check out this video here, uh, that's linked up in the cards and in the description. But if you're looking to now use Restream to make this Zoom meeting go out to multiple platforms, when you click on the three dots at the bottom where it says more, instead of choosing Facebook or the YouTube option, you're going to choose the live on custom live streaming service option. And when you click that, you will see pretty quickly within seconds, you should see on your Zoom meeting, there will be a red flag. That comes up at the top and it says live. It'll give you an indication that you are indeed broadcasting live. So from that point on, you just continue to conduct your Zoom meeting like you normally would. Now, keep in mind, you're not going to see all of the features that you normally would should you use the live studio option within Restream. What this is, is taking the Zoom meetings that you already have established, or maybe you create a new one and it's utilizing Restream to take this Zoom meeting and putting it out onto multiple platforms on your behalf. On the next video, I will be sharing with you how you can broadcast in Restream itself. And that's really where things come alive because you can start seeing all the comments that are coming in from multiple platforms. You're able to add graphics on top of the screen, and there's more that you can do from a video production perspective.
