The Rx For Video Marketing Success

In this solo video, video marketing strategist Sheryl Plouffe shares her "prescription" for achieving success with video content. She stresses that the foundation of growth is unwavering consistency and a commitment to the audience, demonstrated by publishing a new video every Thursday on her core platform, YouTube, for years with only two missed weeks due to technical issues. When obstacles arise—such as a broken computer—she showcases resourcefulness by switching to live streams or using a phone, proving that the delivery method can adapt while the promise remains. She advises viewers to select a single primary platform, maintain at least a weekly publishing cadence, and be prepared to improvise around setbacks. Throughout, she invites the audience to comment on their own challenges, offering to review them and provide tailored resources, and promotes upcoming 30‑day livestream challenges as a way to deepen engagement and grow online businesses.

this video, but there's a prescription for video marketing success. And because I'm a video marketing strategist, I feel like it is my duty to share that with you today. It's late in the day, it's, it's 5:30 in the afternoon here, uh, when I'm recording this or going live with this video, and I'm tired. You know, I, I've worked all day today. I've gotten up early this morning to take care of, you know, get my son to school. My husband's not home, and so I've been kind of holding down the fort. I've worked all day, and here I am at the end of the day thinking, okay, you know what, it's Thursday. And Thursdays to me are really important because I've made Thursdays the day that I post my YouTube videos on my channel. I've been doing a weekly video for years, really. In 2019, I think there were 2 times, 2 Thursdays in 2019 that I missed publishing a video. And the only reason that that happened was because of technical difficulties. So here we are in 2020 and I haven't missed a day yet. Now, so here's, here's the thing. The prescription for video marketing success lies in doing what I'm doing right now. And that is, despite it being late in the day, despite feeling a little tired, despite the fact that my face is shiny right now, despite all of that, I'm still coming in and I'm sharing with you something that I hope you will find and deem valuable and inspire you and motivate you to do for yourselves. And the really what it is is consistency and it's commitment to your audience. I'm committed to you. I am committed to creating a video and posting it and publishing it every single week. What's interesting though is that the reason I'm going live today rather than making my recorded video, which is normally what I do, I'm going live and I did this last week as well, is because my computer's been on the fritz. I ordered a computer. I know it's being shipped because I got the message saying we, we processed your order and it's on its way. And it didn't make it in time for today for me to be able to do a recorded video because I normally produce them on my, on my computer. So because I've made a commitment to my audience, and I want to question you, are you making the commitment to your audience? If your audience isn't growing, If you're not building the connections that you know you should be making as a coach, a consultant, a speaker, an author, an expert at what you do, and if you're finding that you're not getting the clients you need to get or deserve to get, the audience isn't growing the way you want it to grow, you have to question, are you creating enough content and are you being consistent with it? Because it's really easy to say, it's late in the afternoon. My computer's not here. And so, I have to find another way to stay committed to the thing that I said I'd do, which is to create and publish a video every single week. One of the questions I get asked the most as a video strategist is how— well, there's two questions that I get asked the most. One is how long should my videos be? That'll be another video. But the other question I get asked is how often should I be going, you know, how often should I be publishing content? My belief is that once you choose your core platform, for me it's YouTube, You need to make a decision about what that is. If you need help with that, comment below and I can help you with determining what that is. But once you determine what your core platform is, you at minimum, at minimum, need to be creating content and feeding that evergreen sales machine once a week, minimum. If you can do it more than that, that's awesome. For me, I stick to a once a week schedule. Every Thursday I publish new content. So the question for you is, are you doing the same? What obstacles are you encountering that are keeping you from doing the content that you know you should be creating and that you should be publishing? There are, there are always obstacles. There are always things that are going to be thrown up and in your way, but you have to be resourceful. As Tony Robbins says, it's resourcefulness that's going to put you through. It's having a system and being committed to your audience, it's going to pull you through. And that is the prescription for video marketing success. That is the prescription for business, online business success, in my opinion. So when I do trainings, or if I'm jumping on a call, or I'm speaking, often people say, like, you know, how are you, how are you doing it? Uh, what are you doing? And I say, I publish a piece of content every single week. In addition to other live streams or other posts that I do, you know, here and there on Instagram or Facebook, I have a whole system, in fact, on how I do my content every week. The last 2 weeks, it's been a little bit out the window because of the obstacles that have been thrown up in my way. The computer not working, okay, fair, but I can still go live, right? I can still go live, which is why I'm doing this. So, I still get my video created and published on my YouTube channel because that's my core platform. I get that done even going live rather than recording the video. So you find ways when you're committed, you will find ways when you're committed, you will find ways to be resourceful, you know, and, and exhaust all of those opportunities and potential ways that you could get around it. Sometimes it does happen where there are a lot of obstacles that are thrown up in your way. And despite you trying, you know, maybe you run into ultimately a roadblock that just is insurmountable and you can't do it. That did— like I said, that happened to me twice in 2019. But I believe that the reason why I'm able to be even growing at the level that I'm growing now is because I do find ways. You know, had, had I not had the ability to go live on my computer, you know, I would have probably figured out a way to use my phone today or something. I would have figured it out because I'm committed. And so sometimes people ask, well, you know, how can I be successful online? First thing I say is, are you publishing content? And if they say no, I said, okay, well then we have to examine that. Why is that? Well, I'm busy. I've got so many things. I'm wearing all the hats in my business. I know, so are we all. We're all doing that. So how is it that some people are still able to figure out ways to still commit and create that content when we're all dealing with the same 24 hours in a day? All right, it's because you have to be resourceful, have systems, and, and stay committed. And that's ultimately the, uh, this, the prescription in my opinion for video marketing success. So if you have questions about this idea, or I'd love to know what are your obstacles, you know, post them in the comments. I would love to go through and read that later on tonight when I'm having a glass of wine. We'll go through your comments and I will take a look and respond back. What are, what are the things that are— what obstacles are being thrown up in your way, or that you believe are being thrown up in your way, that are holding you back from having the success that you want online, from creating the content, from being consistent? And maybe there are some ideas or resources that I can think of that will help you to, to blow those away, right? To, to crumple those excuses, those— you might call them reasons, but maybe they're excuses— and get rid of them once and for all so that you can grow. I hope it's helpful. I wanted to just jump on and share that with you today. Again, it's something that I believe strongly in and likely will be talking a lot more about in 2021 as we embark on, you know, live streaming here at my company at Cheryl Plouffe Media Inc. We are going to be emphasizing a lot more on live streaming and the importance of it. For it to grow your business.
