4 Steps To Un-Own Your Anxiety

Dr Shiny Unsal presents a four-step framework to stop letting anxiety control you: commit to change, build awareness using her formula "awareness × willingness," reframe your relationship with anxiety through NLP techniques, and repeat the steps consistently. She argues repetition is the foundation of skill acquisition.

4 steps to unown your anxiety. Combines the power of the mind with the wisdom of your heart, and it just helps you to unlock your potential. Hey everyone, welcome to my Shiny Minds Show. Hi, my name is Dr Shiny Unsal. I am the proud creator of Neuroshine technology, the Shiny Minds Show, and your Neuroshine coach. We're talking about anxiety today, and we're talking about how you can own it. You don't need to own it. It comes up a lot these days in the COVID-adjusted world that we live in. In my online programs, in my coaching sessions, wherever I go, anxiety comes up a lot. I get a lot of questions. Shiny, how do I deal with my anxiety? Shiny, what would you do? What is your advice for me to deal with this freaking out. Like, I have this panic attack, I have this thing inside of me, I don't know. It comes up a lot. So that's why I want to really talk about, sit down and talk about it and give you guys some very practical tips, because anxiety is not going anywhere. Okay, that's your like lifetime friend. So that's why we need to have a conversation around it and we need to give you a new belief that you don't need to own it. Ta-da! What a new concept, right? You can unown your anxiety today with 4 steps. Are you ready? Let's go. Commitment. First, you need to commit. You need to make a decision and really commit that you are not going to own anxiety anymore. You are not going to allow anxiety control you, and instead, You're going to tell your anxiety, dear anxiety, listen, I appreciate you a lot. I know you've been always there for me more than I asked for. And so yeah, today I'm choosing to let you go. I am going to control you. You're not going to control me. So that's the conversation. That is the commitment. And that is your decision. Like set it in stone. Okay. If you don't do it, then you'll never achieve it. It's an internal belief system you have to create so that you can transform it within. It's not something tangible, right? You cannot go do something physical to anxiety because you don't even know where it is. You cannot hold it, cannot touch it. It doesn't exist. I mean, it does exist, but it exists in your mind. Like I always say, It all begins and ends in your mind, and that's why you need to catch anxiety in your mind, have a conversation with it, and make a decision and a commitment that it is ending today, that it is not gonna own you anymore, and you're not gonna own it anymore. You're gonna unown it today. Step number 2 is awareness. In my Nourishine technology, I have a very simple, effective, and very powerful formula, formula for change. That is awareness multiplied by willingness. Think about it. The biggest problem you have when you want to solve a problem is that you don't know and you are not aware that you have a problem. Correct? I mean, if, if you know that there is a problem, then you can choose to do something about it, right? But if you don't know, if you don't even know that you have a problem, how are you going to fix it? Right? That's why step number 1, after you commit, right? That is step number 1. But step number 1 after step number 1, is awareness. You gotta be aware of your problem. If you don't accept you have a problem, that's the biggest problem. So awareness becomes very important so that you accept, oh, I have a problem. What is your problem? My problem is that I'm allowing my anxiety control me. I am literally giving this intangible thing that I don't even see some power. Like, here anxiety, here's, oh, take me, right? So if you don't accept it, if you don't admit it, there is no way on owning it. Step number 3, now we're gonna talk about reframing. In my Neuroshine technology formula, there is awareness and willingness, right? So we kind of covered willingness with the step number 1 commitments, and we also covered awareness. Now I want to talk about reframing because it's a very powerful tool in neuro-linguistic programming. And we use it in my trainings and coaching sessions. And it just like transforms, it just like blows people's minds immediately. It is incredibly powerful. It's just like, instead of looking at a problem this way, you just go around it and Look at it from this way or from above, right? You change your perspective. That's how reframing looks like. Let's apply reframing to unowning your anxiety. How is it going to look like or sound like? Well, here's an idea. When you talk to your anxiety, instead of looking at this anxiety, this negative emotion I need to avoid, Ooh, right? It's probably what you have, that relationship, right? So if it is the relationship you have with anxiety, that's exactly what you can reframe. And instead of that, you can look at anxiety. You don't scare me. I'm not going to avoid you. I'm just going to allow you to be. Yeah, so what you got for me? Why are you here? What's your message? Talk to me. I'm here. I'm listening. All right, anxiety, show me what you got. The game is on. That's an idea. You can also create this type of a relationship with your anxiety. Dear anxiety, if you were my friend, and if you were driving with me in my car, sitting in my car, I wouldn't let you drive my car because I really, I don't trust your instincts. And I cannot put you in my trunk because you're not safe there, you cannot breathe, right? So you need to sit with me in my car. So we need to find a way to get along. How do we get along? Okay, so those are two ideas. You just take it from there. Just be creative, reframe it, as long as your relationship with anxiety is not negative. And negative means— negative is not negative, okay? Negative is just like in the minus area instead of in the positive area in the spectrum. Right? So when you have this perspective, this reframed perspective about those negative emotions, they're just like emotions. They're just like symptoms. They're not real. It's just a symptom. Then you are a pro reframer. Last step, step number 4, repeat. Why am I saying that? Because it happens all the time. So right now we are in the middle of a 16-week online double certification training, double certification in NLP and coaching. And one week my students slash clients bring me a question, 3 weeks later they bring the same question again, only to learn that what they decide, that strategy needs to be repeated again and again and again and again. That's how the brain works. That's how we learn in time by repetition. What did Tony Robbins say? Repetition is the king of every skill. What did Shiny say? Shiny said repetition is the queen of every skill, right? So you gotta repeat just like you get up, wash your face, brush your teeth, Eat, work, sleep, and repeat. Do you ever question that? No, you don't because it's normal. So that needs to be your new normal. Your relationship, your reframing, your awareness, your willingness, your commitment, how you talk to your anxiety, that needs to be your new normal so that you can successfully unown it, my friends. So I hope these 4 steps helped you. I hope you liked this video. If you did, please share it with your friends so they can also unown their anxiety.
