In this instructional video, Dr. Shiny Unsal, an ICF‑certified leadership coach, professor at UCLA Extension, and founder of Neuroshine Technology, presents her long‑standing UCLA Extension framework called the “7 C’s of Leadership.” She explains each of the seven inter‑related qualities that a leader should develop and evaluate: (1) Consciousness – self‑awareness of personality, goals, and behaviors; (2) Confidence – an unshakeable belief in one’s ability to solve problems and learn new skills; (3) Calling – existential purpose and clarity about why one leads, which fuels communication of a larger cause; (4) Commitment – persistent determination to see actions through despite obstacles; (5) Control – self‑regulation and emotional discipline, distinguished from controlling others, with an emphasis on knowing when to let go; (6) Charisma – magnetic, charming presence that can be cultivated through charisma‑enhancement techniques; and (7) Contribution – the overarching reason for leadership, making a positive impact on the world. Throughout, she blends mind‑based strategies with heart‑based wisdom, urging viewers to assess and improve these skills, and concludes with a call to like, share, and subscribe for further leadership content.

Let's talk about 7 C's of leadership. Combines the power of the mind with the wisdom of your heart, and it just helps you to unlock your potential. Hey everyone, welcome to my Shiny Minds Show. Hello everyone, my name is Shiny Unsal. I am the proud creator of Neuroshine Technology, ICF-certified NLP and coach trainer, ICF-certified coach, and leadership professor at UCLA Extension, and that's exactly what we're going to talk about today. We're going to talk about leadership. We're going to talk about 7 C's of leadership, to be specific. This is my content that I have been teaching at UCLA Extension since 2012. 7 C's of leadership is going to give you the framework of your leadership skills and qualities that you can look and evaluate and then improve. If you're ready, let's go. Number 1 is consciousness. Consciousness refers to awareness, how leaders perceive themselves, how aware they are about their personality, about their goals and dreams and their behaviors. If you are a leader who is unaware, forget it, you're not going to be able to lead yourself, then How are you going to lead others? That's why it all begins with your consciousness, your level of awareness, so that you can be a leader, not only by your influence, but also by becoming an example. Number 2 is confidence. Leaders are people who show this incredible, unshakeable, undeniable level of confidence. What do I mean when I talk about confidence? To put in a simple perspective, confidence is your ability to figure things out. No matter what the challenge is, no matter what the obstacle, the problem is, you have this unshakable belief, this faith, inner faith that you believe no matter what happens, you are going to figure it out. You're going to find a way. If it is a new skill you need to learn, you're going to learn it. If it is a new team you need to build, you're going to go build it. Why? Because you have confidence. Number 3 is calling. This is where we go a little bit deep. Calling refers to your existential reasoning, your existential intelligence, and your existential reason why you are a leader to begin with. What's life about? Why do you exist? What is your life purpose? What is your true calling? And leaders have clarity about their own existential reasoning. When they have that clarity, they can go ahead and clearly communicate it to others around them. So everybody joins because it's now a bigger cause and everybody can join the cause. And that's why calling is a big part of your leadership skills. Number 4 is commitment. Well, as you can imagine, If you take an action, if it doesn't go in the way that you want, and then if you stop, what kind of leadership is that, right? You're not even leading yourself to see it through. You're not even willing to overcome the challenges and to grow with it. So then leaders are required to have a certain level of commitment, determination, persistence, and commitment. That commitment is about achieving the goal, leading the team, leading the organization. If you are leading teams, if you're leading projects, you need to commit to get it done. You need to commit that you cannot give up. You cannot say all of a sudden, oh, you know what, I don't want to do it anymore. That is not going to happen. And that needs to be your deep level of commitment to whatever that you are leading. Number 5 is control. When I say control, I'm actually referring to your self-regulation. As a leader, you are required to have self-regulation. You are required to have self-discipline. And as part of emotional intelligence, this skill of self-regulation is going to be need it a lot. You're gonna have problems and you cannot just lose control and start yelling at people. If you are in a big role in a big organization, people are looking up to you. People are going to learn from you. They're going to be motivated by you. They're going to be inspired how you face challenges and how you show up with courage and faith. No matter how big the problem is, they are looking at you. They're watching you. And that's why your level of control is going to mean a lot to anybody. And here is a little distinction I want to share right here, right now, because as I am working with a lot of executives and providing leadership coaching for managers and executives at big organizations, what I am noticing is that when you are a leader, when you have the control, you might mix that control by controlling others, and that's not what we're talking about. You are only going to control your own reactions, your language and behaviors, and your thoughts, and how you show up. You're not supposed to control people's behaviors. You're not supposed to tell them what to do and repel them. That's not what we are talking about. And a leader is supposed to know where you need to let go of the control and leave it to others. Number 6 is charisma. Well, don't we know this? Leaders are these amazing, charming personalities that sometimes you just look and you get inspired because they have some sort of charisma. They have this charm that you are drawn to. They have this magnetic personality and You're like, like, how is that? Like, I just want to be around this person. And that charisma is something that you can improve. You know, there's something called charisma enhancement. You can work on your charisma. There are ways that you can learn to be more charismatic. And that is a big part of your leadership skill set. Last but not least is contribution. This last C, of all the other C's is why you are a leader to begin with. Because you make a difference. Because you are committed to contribute and to show up in the world with a bigger purpose to make this world a better place. You are leading something because that's your calling. You are leading a team, an organization, a business, a project because you're contributing. You're making something better. Than it is. And that is what leadership is all about. So here are my 7 C's of leadership. These are all the skills that you need to have as a leader, if not more. So I hope you like this video.
