I have so much compassion for my younger self today. I was having a conversation with someone about the advertising world. I just remembered all those years, a decade in advertising and marketing. It was a toxic environment. My younger self didn't even know that she was having anxiety attacks. She would not even be able to breathe, let alone go have a restroom break, a bio break. I wouldn't even let myself do that because I had a lot of things to do. And I mean, I would enjoy it at the end of the day, but it was not healthy. It was so toxic. I remember one time at Ogilvy, my director was telling everybody, please everyone, we have this client and then we need to create this tabletop commercial TV ad, you're not going home today. And then I had a dinner that I needed to go. I was the one who was hosting the dinner party. And like, and then she was like, no, you're not going anywhere. How come you didn't learn not to make plans for the weekday evenings? I'm like, I didn't sign up for that. Nobody told me that I would not have a life. I, I'm not doing this. And then I would go feel like, what is wrong with me? Like, why is everybody okay with that? And because everybody would cancel their plans and then they would stay and then they would work, and then I, I would be the only one like saying no to that. Like, I'm thinking about right now, and then I am like, my younger self, you did, you did amazing. Seriously, so much compassion. If that is you, I have so much compassion for you. And I gotta tell you, there is another way. 15 years later, actually 17, I can tell that there is another way. You don't have to live like that. You don't have to accept it.
