Why Do You Need To Become Friends With People's Amygdala

Your amygdala scans for threats six times per second. Dr. Burcu Unsal explains why befriending other people's amygdala matters: it builds trust, helps you regulate your own fight-or-flight response, and gives you real influence over how others react to you.

Why do you need to become friends with people's amygdala? Combines the power of the mind with the wisdom of your heart, and it just helps you to unlock your potential. Hey everyone, welcome to my Shiny Minds Show. Hello everyone, my name is Shiny Burcu Unsal. I am the proud creator of Neuroshine technology, this Shiny Minds Show, and your Neuroshine coach. Today I would love to shine those cute little neurons of yours and create shiny minds together with you by talking a little bit deeper about amygdala. You know, in one of my previous videos, we talked about 4 functions of amygdala, and I gave you examples of how amygdala can prevent you having greater and deeper relationships, right? So today I would love to talk to you more about why you need to become friends with people's amygdala, why it is important, and how it can help you. If you haven't watched that previous video yet, I am going to put its link in the comments below so that you can go through that first and then watch this video. Ready? Let's go. Number 1, trust. The first reason you need to become friends with people's amygdala is so that you can build trust. Remember, this is your amygdala. It connects your primitive brain to your emotional brain, and because it is primitive and because its duty is survival, it scans the environment runs 6 times a second and it just looks for those possible threats. Your words, your language, your tonality, your behaviors, they can all mean threats to people's amygdala when they are scanning their environment. If you act, talk, and look like a threat to some other people's amygdala, they'll be like, "Mm-mm-mm-mm, we are not sure if you're going to be safe around this person." Right? And that is the reason why you really need to understand the function of that amygdala. You have the same one and you need to do your best to become friends with them, to really not bother them, not to trigger them. Makes sense? Number 2, self-regulation. Well, you want to consider yourself an emotionally intelligent human being. Don't you? Self-regulation is a part of your emotional intelligence skill set. Self-regulation is your ability to hold the reaction, offense, and defense mechanism and instead rise up to higher levels in your brain and activate this advanced part, this cognitive part that is responsible for resilience and responsible for analytical and cognitive thinking. When you are able to operate from higher levels of your brain, you are absolutely going to be able to become friends with people's amygdala. 3. Influence. Well, you want to influence yourself and others, right? You want to be able to have more skills, more quality of your life, and deeper and more meaningful relationships, right? So that's another reason you need to understand and do your best to become friends with amygdala, because you want to influence them. You want to lead them by example. You want to support them to become better version of themselves. And same for you. And all of it comes with the ability to understand, appreciate, and become true friends with people's amygdala. There you have it, my 3 reasons why you need to become friends with people's amygdala. I hope this served you. I hope you liked the video. If you liked it, please put a like on it and share it with your friends. And of course, subscribe to my channel, Shiny Minds Show. We are all shiny minds working to become better versions of ourselves so that together, you and I, We can create a better world with more love and shiny minds.
