Why learning NLP will make you an even greater coach. It combines the power of the mind with the wisdom of your heart, and it just helps you to unlock your potential. Put your hands together for Gary Vaynerchuk! Hey everyone, welcome to my Shiny Minds Show. Hello everyone, my name is Shiny Unsal. I am the proud creator of Neuroshine Technology, ICF Master Certified Coach, ICF Accredited Coach Trainer, and a licensed trainer of Neuro Linguistic Programming, NLP. So today I want to answer the question that I get asked a lot: Shiny, why do I need to learn NLP? I mean, I am already a coach. "Or I am already a certified coach." Or even better, "I'm already an ICF certified coach. I already know what I'm doing. I have experience. I have my clients. Everything is good, right?" So if you are one of these types that I mentioned, you might be wondering, like, why do you need to learn NLP? Like, what is that? How is it going to help you? And how is it going to make you an even greater coach? So I have 5 ideas and 5 answers to share with you so that you can understand why learning NLP is going to make you an even greater coach. If you're ready, let's go. 1. You will master your mind and your coaching mindset. If you are an ICF certified coach, you already know the importance of having a coaching mindset, and for For those of you who don't understand what I'm talking about, first of all, ICF stands for International Coaching Federation. And the reason we have the International Coaching Federation in the world is because coaching industry is not a regulated industry. It is not required for you to finish a 4-year degree and get a diploma that says a coach for you to start doing your own coaching business. Yet. So that's why we have the International Coaching Federation for the last 25 years or more. So ICF has the ethical standards, regulations, core competencies for every professional coach out there in the world, for more than 200 countries in the world, so that we all have a common understanding of what coaching is and how coaching is Done. Now that we have covered this, let's also talk about the difference between being a certified coach and being an ICF accredited coach. So when you go through a coach-specific training, you are going to receive a certification that says certified coach, right? That's perfect. That shows that you have gone through the training, you developed your skills, and you invested in your coaching skillset. But that is not enough for you to receive your ICF accreditation. International Coaching Federation also gives professional coaches the levels. Actually, there are 3 levels of accreditation. Once you go through that training, you also do some other steps like mentor coaching hours and 100 hours of coaching experience and passing the test and applying and having the recording. And that recording is going to be evaluated according to your skill set. Like there are so many other steps that you need to do so that ICF can award you with the accreditation. Okay, not every coaching training is going to give you that ICF accreditation, so you need to watch out for that. And why do I start with this? Because it is also important for you to look at your coaching mindset and your coaching business and ask yourself this question. Okay, I have all these skills, I have all this training, accreditation, certifications, but I still don't understand why my clients act a certain way. That's when NLP comes into place. NLP, Neuro Linguistic Programming, is going to give you the structure behind human behaviors. You're going to have a framework, a toolbox, step by step. It is going to teach you the mindset principles, the language patterns, and the behavior models. And you're going to be able to see, literally observe human behaviors as a coach. And when you talk to your clients, you're not only going to be able to brag about your accreditations and certifications, but you're also going to be really able to see what is going on and help your clients to, to, to create a change in their behaviors. NLP is going to make you an even greater coach because you will have a deeper understanding of your coaching skills. You're not only going to understand, okay, so I need to have communication skills. You're gonna go even deeper. You're gonna go deeper within the mindset and the mechanics behind that communication, and you will understand when and why and how and where and with whom and with what kind of a source that behavior pattern happens. You will be able to understand when and where and how and why when and with whom and with what kind of a source that kind of language communication and that kind of a pattern is being able to program. And you will be able to help your clients reprogram that pattern after understanding wherein, when, and how, and why, and with who whom and with what kind of source that behavior is based upon. You will become the expert of that pattern, and NLP is going to also give you magical tools and magical techniques that is gonna empower them as a client and you as a coach. And by integrating your knowledge, by integrating your toolbox, you're going to become unstoppable. Let me give you an example. In my Neuroshine Technology NLP and Coach Double Certification trainings, I created these 8 principles of the mind. One of them is called the meaning principle, and that meaning principle is something that you can hold right here in your mental toolbox, and whenever you see the need, boom, you apply it, and boom, you implement it, and you actually help your client clarify the meaning they attach to every single situation Therefore, they become aware, and if they're also willing, guess what? They create the change. 2. You'll master your listening skills. As you know, listening is the underrated part of our communication skills. Okay, so we talk a lot about communication and language patterns and how to deliver a message, all that, but we don't really talk a lot about how to listen. How to consume the information we receive from others. That's why when you learn NLP, when you understand these patterns that I'm talking about, when you apply these principles that I'm talking about, specifically the meaning principle, for example, you are listening to your client with an understanding. You are implementing, oh, this is the meaning that they give, and another one, Oh, this is how they are chunking that information. Oh, this is the context of their behavior. Oh, look at that. That's actually their success model. So you will be able to implement all these tools as you listen to them, and you will be so valuable when you're able to see the math, the formula behind your client's behaviors, their language patterns, you will be able to give it back to them and they will be able to have those neuroshine moments, in my language, and boom, you're gonna become a master listener. 3. You will master your powerful questions. As a coach, you already know how important for you to be able to ask powerful questions, right? With the power of neuro-linguistic programming, you will understand questioning at a deeper level. You will understand why it is so important for you to be able to ask open-ended powerful questions, and you will understand the effect of it, and you will also master it. Number 4, you will master your coaching presence. Listen, you don't need to be a coach to master your presence. Just as a human being, we owe this to each other, to have a great presence. A presence where people feel safe around you, seen, heard, and appreciated by you. And that is all going to show up the way your presence is shared with others. And When you learn NLP, when you understand the structure of the mind, language, and human behaviors, guess what? It is going to give you the wisdom. It is going to give you this like groundedness and that maturity, and you will be able to integrate it to your being, and that is going to help you master your coaching presence. And last but not least, You will become an even more intelligent version of yourself. Not only I'm talking about IQ, but I'm also talking about EQ and social intelligence. Okay, we're talking about being cognitively intelligent, emotionally intelligent, socially intelligent, and also in my language, contextually intelligent. When you study NLP, Of course, I am specifically talking about my version of NLP, Neuroshine Technology. You understand that there is actually some sort of a mechanics like behind everything. There's sort of a structure behind everything, and that makes you smarter. Like when you see something, you can actually see in a way that nobody else is able to see. And that's intelligence, isn't it? And if you want to combine everything that I have shared with you, which I shared a lot, you will see how NLP, learning NLP, Neuro Linguistic Programming, is going to help you become an even greater coach.
