Day 21 Inspiration Parenting Autism Real & Raw with Siobhan Wilcox - Rebalance Yourself!

A short vlog-style YouTube entry (Day 21 of the "Parenting Autism Real & Raw" series) by Yvonne/Siobhan Wilcox describing recent parenting challenges with her son (increased aggression possibly linked to specific foods), her plan to isolate suspect foods starting tomorrow, and her need to replenish by spending time in nature at a nearby lake in Miramesa. The video emphasizes walking in nature (hawks, lizards, ducks, sitting on a pier) as a way to rebalance the nervous system, ground oneself, and find emotional restoration. It ends with contact and registration information for Autism Experts Alliance.

Hey, everybody, it's Yvonne Wilcox here, the founder and creator of Autism Experts alliance. This is day 21 of parenting autism Real and Raw. Just wanted to bring you to this beautiful place here. It's a lake that's near my home in Miramesa. Oh, you know, let's see if I can get me on screen, too. Hello. You know, it's been a challenging week. A lot of overwhelm for my son. A lot of aggression. We're starting to find out what some of the triggers are, which has been interesting. We still need to break it down a little bit more. A lot of it seems to be linked with food. And we're noticing that after certain foods, he becomes highly aggressive. But we're now needing to dissect everything he's eating and drinking to figure out whether it's the combination of foods or if it's the food on its own. So starting tomorrow, I'm starting to isolate all the foods I've noticed a reaction from and see if we can figure out what's causing what. As you can imagine and as you know yourself, if you're parenting a child with autism, the overwhelm can be very, very exhausting and relentless. You know, it's been every single day. So he's missed the school bus every day pretty much for seven days now. I've had to drive him to school, which takes a lot of my time. And I needed to replenish me. I realized that I was getting really tired. School year is nearly over. We're in the last week, and I felt like, oh, wow, you know what? You're tired this week and you're a bit emotional, and it's like the end of many things. He's going to move to a new school, but it's the end of the school year, it's the start of the summer, and I realized that I hadn't really taken time out to walk in nature. So I brought myself here this morning, and it's just been magical. I arrived, and I'm going to bring you back to the lake. There was two beautiful hawks sitting up in this tree. I've been walking around the lake and seeing lizards. Having some quiet time in nature. Of course, in the background now is a truck for the water reserve, because this is actually a water reserve. We've got some nice ducks, you know, when we take ourselves to nature, it helps us to rebalance our nervous system. Our nervous system. We breathe deeper, we relax deeper. We start to reconnect with our ability to ground into our bodies. We begin to Feel our feet deeper and stronger in our shoes. That sounds bizarre, maybe, but when you're walking on the earth, not on concrete, you notice your feet more. When you notice your feet more, you start to sink yourself deeper into your heart space. When you're deeper in your heart space, you begin to be that which you're supposed to be, which you're meant to be. We won't use that word supposed to be because we all are what we are here to be. But when you're in a place where there's a lot of exhaustion, a lot of relentless being behaviors that you need to manage on a daily basis, coming to nature can be the thing that brings you back into your center, back into your heart and replenishes you. And I always find that either going to the beach, the mountains, the lake, just brings me home, I always say, brings me home. So I'm wondering if you find that yourself, if you could comment on that, if you could, if you haven't for a long time, gone to nature, just go out, sit in nature. You know, I sat on one of the little piers for around 15 minutes here, just breathing, watching the waves lap against the edge of the pier and just allowing myself to breathe in harmony with that. And it just really brought me into a deeper sense of peace and a deeper sense of relaxation. So have a wonderful day everybody. Go find some nature. Here's somebody coming by in a boat now who's found some nature. And as always, you can email me at Siobhan Wilcox or sorry siobhanautismexpertsalliance.com or siobhanwilcox.com as well.
