There were more horror stories though than there were success stories. I was robbed and held at gunpoint in my underwear overnight on a venue trip in a third world country. I got my passport stolen one time. And I would say one of the most exciting things turned out to be the most depressing, where I was in Dubai, actually. I was singing to a group of people who knew the words to my lyrics, which to me was just shocking. And the energy that you feel from 10,000 people singing back at you, that's the energy that you spend a whole career chasing. But the interesting thing is that after that show, I went up to my suite at the Burj Al Arab, and I remember feeling so depressed. Like, I looked around the room and I'm like, "Not one person in this room gives a crap about me." Like, it's just— I felt so lonely being surrounded by these people. And that was the first— that was the beginning of the end of my music career, put it that way.
