We out here in New York. Shot Ready is on bookshelves right now, so make sure you go get it. But we going on the Today Show today, having some fun. Ayesha's hosting later in the show. But hyped to be here knowing the book is live. Everybody gotta be shot ready, you know? I'm gonna tell you what it is. See you soon. That's why everybody's here this morning. Let's face it, he's a 4-time NBA champion, 2-time league MVP. He's won Olympic gold. And of course, he is the all-time leader in 3-pointers with more than 4,000. And counting. And now apparently we can all be just like Stephen. He released a new book, it's called Shot Ready, diving into his mindset, diving into his philosophy of success as well. Welcome back, sir. I appreciate y'all having me. Of course. Nice to be here. Alrighty. Wait, how do you open that up? There we go. Is there a letter in there? There is a letter in there. Oh, let's set up a golf round, I'll give you some strokes, from Carlos Alcarez. That's pretty good from the US Open champ. I saw that celebration too after he won. He's got game. And then we got, "Next time come watch me play 2020—" Ooh, she's back-to-back US Open champion, Aryna Sabalenka. That's pretty special. Yeah, why are you writing the letter later if it's possible? That's dope. I'm keeping these. Yeah, keep them. That's fire. If things aren't efficient, if things are not flowing well, Don't always chase the lowest. You want to understand why you're getting such bids. Of course. And you can negotiate to a degree, but usually the price is the price. You're looking at what is the scope, you know, what is the level of finish, you know, and then— The greatest shooter ever! There he is! Hey! There he is! Stephen Curry! Stephen Curry! [FOREIGN LANGUAGE] Really exciting, beautiful book with some great life lessons for young athletes, really all of us. I think we got a little surprise for Mr. Curry. And then after that, we always have a blast with Josh Gad's film, "You Look Dangerous." Josh is here to fill us in on his new film that combines mystery and comedy. Move to close. Wow. Move to close. Wow. Walk away. Walk away. Back it up. Back it up. Back it up. Thank you. We'll be right back after this. But one year it was a New Edition song. It was. What was that? "If It's..." "A Bit of Love." No way. I was about to say that joke. But how does this get you ready for the— It's just a vibe. It has to be like a meaning. It probably was just, I heard the song during another, you know, great part of the year. That's so funny. I was thinking it was gonna be like, I have a type. Oh no, no, no, no. I like to have fun and I don't need to be in the yelling at myself in the mirror type vibe. I just wanna have some fun. I just wanna have fun and eat popcorn. Absolutely. Stephen Curry, always a pleasure. Thank you very much. Best of luck this season, guys. This is really good, by the way. I'm nice. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's right. Katie Stevens just said it's very good. The book is called It's called Shot Ready. It is available right now. And of course, give up the round ball rock, folks. You can catch Stephen in action when the NBA returns to its rightful home in D.C. October 21st, doubleheader including Stephen's Warriors against a team called the Lakers there in Los Angeles. Stephen's gonna be back next hour with Jenna. She's gonna have a special co-host as well. The better Curry. Ayesha Curry. There you go. You got it right. Did she ever interview you? Yeah, yeah, fuck with grandpa. Moving on! Honey, come on out! So thank y'all for having me. Oh, thank you! Thank you so much! This is also hilarious because I get crap all the time because I do sometimes forget the flowers. I got some amazing substitute back there. They gave you these? There we go. Thank y'all for making me look good. Thank you! Thank you! Come on, baby. We needed to surprise you. I'm laughing because we— I gave a verbal commitment in my living room in Charlotte. This feels like a nice living room now, you know, whatever, 20-some years later, we're back. I love that. We're back in here. Well, I know, Coach, you brought something. You brought something along that you wanted to share. Yes. Wow. This is the exit 30 sign that's going up. So obviously it's Exit 30 or number 30. Is that a B? But the Department of Transportation has named that exit the Stephen Curry Interchange. And it's interesting how Steph has put his fingerprints all over Davidson College and Davidson basketball. Now there's a beacon of light that will shine upon that town because of this man right here. Wow. [APPLAUSE] Yeah. Good job, Stephen. It won't be like this tomorrow. But it might. But it might. She's like, I'm just getting it like this every day. Hey, hey, hey. Oh, that's dope. My blau. Keep it going, bro. You can take the weight off after. Take it? All right. Yeah. Those are great shoes. Those are great shoes. They are, but they really are. Same exact time. So I was at the game. [FOREIGN LANGUAGE] The extra seats and stuff? Yeah, yeah. Mixed with, like you said, philosophy, wisdom that's been instilled in me and things that I've learned through the ups and downs in life, not just the successes, but the failures as well and what it's taught me. And so hopefully the images kind of bring you into a moment that also is attached to a lesson. And to your point, being shot ready means, you know, the work ethic, the process, the self-confidence that you're ready for whatever comes your way. That's what we do on the basketball court. You're shot ready, you have results. Basically, if I'm ready to catch that ball, lock in on my target, for me, that's been the whole thing that's driven me this entire way. Like I said, if I fail, I'm coming right back. If I succeed, I learned something about it. So hopefully, you know, the stories and the pictures in there can inspire anybody. Going through the book, looking at some embarrassing pictures gave Jimmy a little taste of his own medicine. But this is my third time being here. It never really gets old. Or I should say it's still surreal because there's no reason we should be here, but it's pretty dope. [FOREIGN LANGUAGE] Stop there. After this one. Sorry, not there. Good. Sorry. I'm literal. I know, you're very literal. All right, we're rolling on everyone. All right, cell phones on silent. Like I was saying, man, it's an amazing book. Just so many memories, so many great things that I never even knew about you. The genius, the sayings, the idioms. Why this book and why now? I think going through The process of, you know, ideating Shot Ready and understanding that moment that I have to kind of reflect a little bit on the past and the journey and what's gone into helping me achieve the success that I've had, the highs and lows of life. The idea of being able to look at pictures and be inspired by memories and major inflection points and understand what I learned from those life lessons and still be able to use that wisdom for me. Like, I go through that process every single day. So to be able to put this together as an unbelievable coffee table book that you can kind of flip through and land on a page and take you to some part of the journey, for me it was a great time to reflect and also be inspired to keep going because I still have a lot more to do. Stephen Curry. More to accomplish. So, um, I wanted to be in the spirit of gratitude and appreciation, be able to continue to tell that story, um, and the, the many, many, many bits of wisdom that I've been able to gain over the years. About to do an hour set. I know I did stand-up. I'm doing a special tonight, an hour special. It's the three of them together. You're gonna be great. Um. Commemorate this. Yeah, so this is our Brooklyn Bowl. Ha! And now you're on it. 'Cause we sold out. Nice. Um, yeah, we've got the legends kind of towards the center who played Brooklyn Paramount back when it was first open. That's crazy. 1962. And every act who sold out since 2024 gets a plaque on the wall, so. I mean, you're already a legend, but you're joining another one. This is really cool. You can't force this one. That's dope. We also got you some gifts as well. Thank y'all. Wilbur and Palette merch, and then we got you some custom golf balls. Oh, come on. I appreciate that. Of course. Better be playing well when you use 'em. Yes, we're just gonna do a little photo for our book. We're old school around here, so it's film. All right, ready? 1, 2. That's dope. All right, let's get a little break. Yeah. Uh-huh. Go be you. You know what I'm saying? Had a great show. Thank you, sir. We're going to have a good time tonight. We're going to get up here. I'm going to get this brother out here in just a second, and we're going to talk about the art of preparation. It is a beautiful, beautiful thing. I know we got everybody from age 8 to age 80 up in this building. Thank you all so much for coming out today. Thank y'all for being in the building today. Thank you for spending your hard-earned money today. Ladies and gentlemen, it is my pleasure to bring out to this stage author Stephen Curry. [FOREIGN LANGUAGE] My dad was more, you know, the quiet kind of reserved timely message that you needed. And to be able to now have, you know, ability to do that for my kids, like, I don't know which parent I'm gonna— or which my mom or dad's kind of style I'm gonna emulate the most. Yeah, what's going on with you and your wife? Which one of y'all lock the kids out till they hit the layups? I think that's definitely gonna be more me on that front. I'm dribbling up the court, trying to change directions. He kind of bumps me, I kind of trip across that court, and I was kind of tired at the time, he was guarding really well. I was like, "Well, I'm just gonna shoot from right here." My first media day back in 2009, I got drafted, like I said, to the Warriors. Didn't know much about it. I show up to media day, and as I'm leaving media day, I'm walking out of our facility to my car, our PR director, a guy named Raymond Ritter, who's still with us. He— Hey, I know Raymond. He's great. Yeah, shout out to the double R. He runs outside in the parking deck. He's like, "Staff, staff, staff, I gotta tell you something. Like, you might hear it." This is before real, like, live breaking news updates, X, Instagram, all that stuff. It's like, you might have to go back and watch the news to hear it. But he's like, "You might hear something about what Monte said about y'all." And I was like, I was like, "All right, what'd he say?" He's like, "No, he said, you know, two small guards can't win together." And him being like the vet, him saying that, it gave me a choice, right? Like to your point of, do I sulk? Do I go demand for a trade? Do I like act like this is a personal like shot at me? Like what— how do I take what's happening in the situation and to your point still find a sense of you know, perspective and joy around it. And that whole ride home, that's all I thought about. I was like, I can't let this rob me of an amazing accomplishment, a dream of being able to— I know, we'll get to that in a second. But the idea of like, that's a moment where I'm— it's all perspective. And for me to come up to the next day at training camp and be like, I deserve to be here, I deserve this opportunity, and I'm gonna put the work in behind it.— that made everything, you know, make sense for me in that moment. So there's been countless examples of that in the book. As the best shooter in the world, what are some key things that separate you from the other people in the NBA? Great question. Just specific to shooting? Balance. That is one of the most important foundations and the only thing that, you know, can be repeatable in the sense of a consistent jump shot. I work on that stuff every single day, being able to shoot from all different directions, you know, different speeds, changing direction, that type of thing. But if you don't have good balance and a good foundation, there's— you get all your power, all your rhythm from the ground up. And so balance is key. It doesn't have to be robotic and uniform. Like, balance can just mean you have everything locked in in terms of foot placement and being able to get your jump shot off. So the one cool part is that we talked about Klay Thompson and his form. He has the perfect form, but everybody shoots different, right? There's a lot of great shooters in the history of the game. They all have— this is, we could say, it's as unique as your fingerprint. So the one thing we all do know is that we all have repeatable and an unbelievable balance before we take any shots. Hold the books up in the air, y'all. Hold the books up in the air. 1, 2, 3, make some noise! Come on, come on, come on. Yes indeed, New York City. Thank you all so, so much for coming out, man. Tell everybody you know about Shot Ready, man. Good night. Let's welcome our 9 AM tea time first play from San Diego, California, Kai Molina. Sunday brunch is golden rule, and last night's girl thinks you're a tool. Awkward eye contact just isn't cool, and your voice callouts are way too cool. The outpost might be open, but nothing cannot alleviate it. Just this D'Jour is all I'm here for. Skip class today, and all I can say is That's hilarious. A+ song choice. From Whittier, California, Andrew Rodriguez. [FOREIGN LANGUAGE] Executives are with the kids, so kids will get the opportunity kind of hang out with them and talk to them and stuff like that. And then after that, you and Mariah will just do that panel that we had done last couple years. We have some leadership-focused questions for you guys. It's the last day. We had an amazing week. Got a lot done. Shot ready. Underrated golf. The Today Show with Ayesha Curry. Packed schedule. Got our work in too. Don't forget that. We got training camp event coming up, so hanging out with the kids here at 30 Rock, last day. Gonna give them some more wisdom. Hopefully they got some good questions, but this is how you do New York. If you gonna be here, you better be here. Good. Great, great.
