Stephen Curry at the ACC Tahoe: "One of my favorite weeks of the year."

In this 8,225‑token YouTube segment, Stephen Curry takes viewers behind the scenes of the 2026 American Century Championship (ACC) Pro‑Am at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Club. The video opens with scenic shots of Lake Tahoe and introduces Curry’s family – dad Dell, brother Seth, and his caddie Jay Rich – as they play a practice round together. Curry shares his golf philosophy, emphasizing soft hands, steady tempo, and a simple swing rhythm, while also describing his short‑game approach using a basketball‑style analogy (“Leandro Barbosa package”). He discusses his training routine with strength coach Carl Bergstrom, mobility drills, and basketball‑inspired slides. Mentors like Riggs and his long‑time caddie Jay Rich are highlighted for their influence on grip and lower‑body movement. The segment follows Curry’s tournament play, detailing scores, leaderboard positions (behind Joe Pavelski, Marty Fish, Annika Sorenstam), birdies, double‑bogeys, and his emotional swings between confidence and frustration. Throughout, Curry emphasizes positivity, mantras, and superstitions (e.g., when to change golf balls). Fan energy from “Dub Nation” and the camaraderie of the pro‑am are repeatedly noted. The video concludes with Curry reflecting on the week, his desire to improve for 2027, and the overall joy of combining family, competition, and golf culture.

Welcome to one of the most beautiful places in the world and settings in all of sports, with the Sierra Nevada Mountains in the background and Lake Tahoe adjacent to the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Club.
Hi y'all, we are here at the 2026 American Century Investments Championship. Got my dad, my brother out here. We're gonna play our first round together. It's gonna be really, really exciting. There's a lot of Dub Nation out here supporting. I get to act like a professional golfer for 3 days, so. Stay tuned.
It's gonna be fun.
What's up, what's up, what's up?
What's up, guys?
He's looking good.
He's looking comfortable. Didn't have a lot of sleep last night. Just got settled in. But I'd say so far he's in full control. Looking great.
Knocked down 50 degrees. Just where Jay Rich were. Me and Seth are playing a stable forward handicap game, so. He gets his 8 strokes. We play it like it's the real tournament to kind of get locked in on the competition. Me and my dad are playing a standard Nassau, so. I need like 7 pencils for my scorecard to keep up with it. 19-13 here. I need to hit that a little harder than I usually do. Good, get it there. Onward. We're all like the most competitive family of people, no matter what it is. Good shot, Seth! We talk trash. Y'all trying to play 36? It's gonna get real quiet when it gets around the greens.
Bullseye!
Yeah! Yeah! Nice shot. Good shot.
That's fun.
Cha-ching!
Basically, it's all tee shots right now. Like, you want to get comfortable with where you're aiming off of the tee. Keep you in every hole. And then just starting to get used to the greens. That's where we're going to make our money this week. The whole key for me is just soft hands and good tempo. Like, if I start getting rushed or a little nervous, you— grip on the club too hard, and then you start to get real fast in transition, you have no chance at that point. So just try to keep it simple.
¡Vamos!
So that's the end of our beautiful Wednesday out here in South Lake Tahoe. Little practice round. Me and my brother had a little bet. Double or nothing? He tried doubling up me on the 18th hole. I'm up 60. If I win, I'm up 120. And I came out on top. I beat my pops. Got a little money coming from him. So we learned the course a little bit. Got our confidence up. But I'm still prepping. New outfit. See you tomorrow. We want to be on time. We have 2 shotgun starts today. We need you at your holes for our prompt 7:45 tee time. It's Thursday, South Lake Tahoe, American Century Pro-Am. Mr. Colangelo's in the group. Yeah, Colangelo!
I didn't realize it, but they always took the trophy back. Nobody actually kept it. And then I'll give it to Seth when he wins it. He's gone.
I'm like, where's the trophy?
Next thing I know, I get a snapshot of him drinking bourbon from it on a plane. I'm like, well, okay, I guess we need to make a new one. And so ever since then, we've been giving him—
He still has it?
Oh yeah, he wants the original one from 1993.
I thought about even getting it engraved because I wanted to read exactly how it was. I was like, "That's the end of that tournament." It's sweet for a lot of reasons. One, you get to spend time with family, with friends, make it a full week of just celebrating life. When's the last time you skipped? Golf, it brings us all together, and it's like the best of all worlds. Fun, competitive golf. You get to act like you're a professional golfer for a week and live your greatest dreams. And there's a great camaraderie too with everybody that's in the tournament. Fans show up. It's kind of just an adrenaline rush from start to finish. Only superstitions I hear is when do you change golf balls? If it starts to look a little worn out but you make a birdie, you're not changing it between the green and the next tee box. It's been fun just learning how to learn golf. Pops got me in the game when I was like 10. Took lessons for 2 weeks at Larkhaven Golf Course. I still remember that off of Albemarle Road.
That's right.
And after those 2 weeks, I I just played, didn't really take lessons. And then I met Riggs, gave me a couple pointers on just fundamentals of like grip and how to move my lower body in the swing because I was very upper body dominant. It made sense how he taught it, so formed a relationship from there. Riggs, this is your 4th year here?
4th year here. You want to look slow but be fast.
Mm-hmm.
Because if you look fast, you're often slow. We go smooth like Jake Knapp, Freddie Couples. That's real speed.
Makes so much sense. Short game is, we call it the Leandro Barbosa. It's all the finishing packages that you see. You get in the paint, you gotta find angles, touch, different release points, off the glass, straight in, underhand, overhand.
Yeah!
It's very short game floater package. Than Leandro Barbosa. The operation has grown a good amount in the last 4 or 5 years. We got Carl Bergstrom, strength coach and performance guru extraordinaire. It's nice having him up here doing some morning routines before the round.
Hey! So we got about 30 minutes to do some mobility, get him in the water, get him moving dynamically. He's going here, opening up, getting prepped to hopefully go and take the reins at the ACC Championship.
Oh my, this is basketball.
Defensive slides.
Yes, si.
See?
Fast, fast, fast.
Once you get going.
Yep, yep. Drive, drive, drive, drive, drive. Lateral shuffle there.
You ready, Rock?
Hi, Jay.
All right, it's game day, Jay. Who's your caddy? Jay Rich, Jason Richards, who's running our Underrated Tour for 5 years now.
Positivity, it's all that matters in this game, right? You're gonna make bad shots, you're gonna give wrong numbers, wrong reads, but the more positive you are, the more successful your guy will be.
And we got Jaden out here today. Great to see you. Thanks for coming out. Thanks for having me out here. Absolutely, man. I know I said you win the Underrated Tour, now you gotta come work. We have a good time. Yeah, absolutely. Can you please— We got a light bag for you. Yeah. The Jayden won tour last year, so it's kind of part of the congratulatory package. He gets to come out to Tahoe and caddy for me today, so it'll be fun to have him on the bag.
I'm so proud of him. The way Stephen has opened up opportunities for young golfers is just amazing.
Jayden, I will try one bunker shot. Play random golf any and everywhere, but there's no better atmosphere than out here. Woo! Dub Nation is a big part of that showing up. It's kind of hard not to look anywhere and see Warrior jerseys, 30 jerseys all over the place. So that kind of gets the juices flowing for trying to play some good golf.
Thank you, Stephen Curry!
Yeah, yeah. When I met Chairman Lee, in person for the first time, not when I talked to him. He left a lot of his personal stash of golf balls, and I was like, "Oh, what's that?" And so he made Curry brand Lean In golf balls. So I took about probably 100 of them in here, signed them all, and we're gonna throw them out throughout the week, have a good time, you know? Me and my amateur-ness. I'm gonna hit it pin-high and have a sidewinder. 8-footer, that's what we want. I always think I have a chance to win. I won it before. I know I got the game for it. It's just a matter of can you do it for 3 days, deal with the ups and downs of some good shots, some bad shots, things going your way, some bad breaks. Like, it's a 54-hole marathon. The best part is, like, the more you play in it, the more you get comfortable with just getting a process that makes sense. That gives you the most confidence going in. Either you can play well and just get beat by somebody who played better, or you find your way into the back 9 on Sunday with a chance to win. That's kind of really all I want, is just to be, you know, in that chase on Sunday. There's no better adrenaline rush than that.
Oh! Thank you so much! Thank you. Shuri-chan!
Day 2 was amazing. Just another good opportunity to hang out with some good people, hit some good shots. Tomorrow it goes down though. It goes down tomorrow. Ah! This is Friday at the American Century 2026 version. It's officially going down. First round, Seth Curry, Dell Curry, and myself. 9:42 tee time. It's a battle royale. I think this is the 5th year that we've all been together. So super excited to have some fun with them today. Try to get off to a good start, but most of all, have fun. That's why we out here.
This year his number 30 was lifted to the rafters in Charlotte. Please welcome Dell Curry! On a tee box filled with shooters, he has the best career 3-point percentage of all of them. Please welcome Seth Curry! While he does have more 3-pointers than his dad and brother combined, he's also the dirtiest player on the team box with 4,000 of them combined. Also, please welcome Stephen Curry! Oh, it's the whole Curry clan.
Yeah, we all here, baby.
What's going on? Good to see you, boy.
I'm good.
You doing all right, sir? The Warriors legend back competing for another title and to beat his brother and father. They always have a side play. Already a birdie at 4. Steph with a beauty here from the fairway, knocks it in there relatively close, makes his second birdie of the day, and he's on the first page of the Birdie, buddy! It's a repeat. Do it again, do it again!
Uh-oh, uh-oh.
Stephen Curry now putting for another birdie, his third of the day at the 8th. Cashing it in, it's Stephen Curry! What a dream start for Steph. Oh yeah, that's more like it! One of 10 gold medalists in the field this week. Steph has another good look. He's got a chance for his 4th birdie in 8 holes. Well, the one thing we saw from Steph about 3 or 4 years ago, he seemed to really improve his wedge game, and we just saw evidence of that the last 3 or 4 holes. He hit it to this range, sure makes golf a lot easier. In the hole, 3 more points, 15 overall through 8 holes for Steph. Wow, let's go baby!
He had a little bit of tree trouble. He had one of these pines that he had to fly it over. Full commitment. I'm sure him and Jay Rich consulted on whether he was going to get it over, pulled the shot off.
Beautiful.
Like a boss. I like that. Little influence.
Now Steph get to 18 points. Oh, what a 4! A 4 the entire way! Steph reaches 18 points. And we heard the conversation between Steph and his caddy. His caddy is been his good friend for a long time. It's Jason Richards. A bit of a jumper lie, but a good-looking shot with the 7-iron. Oh yeah, oh yeah! Stephen Curry after laying up. Yep, underneath the hole. His wedge game the last 3 or 4 years has gotten to be really good.
Real competition is the Curry battle. You know, we got the Curry belt on the line.
With the Curry family and the guy that has the belt. So you're going to have it much longer? What's the vibe here? I'm enjoying it while it lasts.
I didn't get off to a great start today, but we got a lot of golf left. You know what I'm saying?
It's going to be an interesting week.
How would you rate everybody's game today from watching? Steph is playing well. He got a hot streak, 3 birdies in a row. Mr. Eagle back there. Seth has had some really tough breaks, uh, some of his approach shots, and I've missed about 3 4-foot putts for par. That's just my nerves, but we'll see what happens. Crowd loves to see you, the NorCal group.
What's the energy been like? I feel like a broken record every time we come. The energy around here is incredible. So for us to kind of cosplay as professional golfers for 3 days in this environment, that's why we love this week so much. Well, the fans love to see you out here, and they love to see you take on the 17th hole as well.
We appreciate the time, guys. Thank you. So line them up. Pavelski, 29. Fish, 27. Steph with 25. Alright!
We had to grind on the back 9. 2-under, grind it through, stay close to the leaders. 4 behind Pawelski, 2 behind Marty Fish. It's just like we drew it up. Day 2 of the tournament, day 4 of the entire week, and we're excited, man. Finished third yesterday. Felt like I played pretty well. Two guys played a little bit better, and I get to play with them today, so excited to see what it's like in the leading group. Last group off on the first hole, 9:30 tee time. Joe Pavelski, Marty Fish, it's gonna be fun. It's nice playing with the leaders because you kind of know what's going on. You can hopefully apply some pressure and keep pace, so see what happens.
Savannah Tech Hospital, he can tell us that next season LeBron James will be playing in— it was worth a shot, it was worth a shot. Please welcome Stephen Curry!
So I'm looking mostly at his routine, making sure that he really sticks to our process, and his rhythm. So the tendency, if anything, especially in a competitive setting, would be to get a little bit quicker on the top. So just making sure that he swings with good rhythm. It needs to look smooth to the eye.
Stephen Curry, fabulous start yesterday and has added again today. That birdie at 3 was Steph's second of the day. He's right there near the top of the board.
So overall, he came out on fire to have made 2 birdies through the first 3 holes. Obviously, that's your perfect start.
But the defending champion, Joe Plovelski, 29 points on Friday, had this a few minutes ago for birdie at the 6th to grab the lead all to himself. Joe now has 35 points and is alone up top the leaderboard. Well, he's got some good memories here, does Stephen Curry. Remember, it was a few years ago he had the hole-in-one. Different hole location today, you can see it's a lot more difficult. Steve over that bunker on the right.
Our mission, especially leading into competitive tournaments, is just to be as simple as possible, not overthink things, just have like a couple key objectives. So one thing that we talk a lot about is making sure that his swing feels slow because he's obviously a tall guy with long levers and a great sequence. So if he feels his swing is fast, he's probably swinging out of sequence. If he feels his swing is smooth, he's got plenty of speed. Be good, 30. Come on. Yeah, that's not bad. That was a great touch to be able to stop it there.
And in case you can't see on his hat, I'm pretty sure it says family business. They're pretty serious about their competition between the three of them. But to be sure, it's a friendly competition. They all pull for each other. Look at that. Almost says right, but that's a very good effort.
He's through the front 9, so level par to the front. Probably didn't have his A-game off the tee, so to be level par is all that we can ask for.
130. I got so handsy on it.
Yeah, it looked like he just diesel on it.
No, really, like crazy hit.
You're gonna knock the next one in, all good.
He's doing great, and he just hit a beautiful tee shot.
Tee shot on the 9th there, so that's the momentum that we need heading into the back nine. Come on, 30! Come on, 30! Hey, we'll take that, like 2.5 feet. It's a great shot.
Back to Steph from the fairway. See if Steph can answer Bobelski. Disappointing that with the wedges today for Steph. Yesterday he looked quite impressive. Today it's, uh, he's trying to hold together with baling wire and chewing gum. And there's another fellow with the talking ticket. That's a great— a talking ticket. Great read. Roger needs to bottle that one. That is a great phrase.
One thing that Steph really likes to have is almost like mantras or keywords. So he's always trying to make sure that he feels square at setup. He's checking where his face is, making sure that his face and his feet match up perfectly. Everything's perpendicular. He's always trying to feel that he has time. So that concept of rhythm, like slow rhythm, like slow is fast. Great example of just like staying in it. So he hasn't had his A-game off the tee today, but you know, I think in the end that's just his next shot mentality, his basketball history, and just being able to always trust that that next shot's going in. It's the way he approaches golf, and it's the best way that we can do it.
You can pick up a lot of points coming down the stretch. Last few holes here, a lot of things can happen. It's one of the things that makes this event so fun. All right, good save for Steph. So 41 going into Sunday, Marty Fish has a 4-point lead as he tries to win the American Century Championship for the third time.
I was all over the place, but Somehow held it together. Marty Fish with a big eagle on 18, that was a tough blow. But if I can do something miraculous tomorrow and go into the 30s, which y'all know I like that number, and I might have a chance to scare somebody. But tough day at the office. Currently sitting in a solid 4th place behind Marty Rick Fish, Joe Pavelski, and Annika Sorenstam. That's pretty solid company, but I'm excited about today. I gotta go basically have a career day. I think I've had 30 one time in this tournament, so 30 points gets me back in the conversation. Marty controls everything, so as you can see, I'm down 11 points. Give me 30 in the clubhouse, put some pressure on them. We'll see what happens, but most of all, have fun. Come back here, let's go!
With 268 consecutive games with a 3-pointer. Second place has a Paul Tree, 157 games in a row, but that's him too. Please welcome the 2023 American Century Championship winner, Stephen Curry! Come on! Come on!
We're all blowing on it from here.
Steph came out on fire. Birdies on 2, 3, and 4. So a really hot start, feeling great with his swing. Really, really good start to the day.
Listen to this statistic. He's first in greens in regulation. 73%. He is 74th in fairways. So his iron game is obviously spotless. We got the hole 6.
He hit a decent tee shot but just barely found the rough. Had a tricky wedge shot where he had to go over the water to a front pin. Probably didn't quite catch it the way that he wanted to, ended up pulling it a yard short, just caught the water. Unfortunately made a double, and that was obviously a loss of 2 points.
I've had 2 of the most interesting rounds in a row. Where yesterday I could not hit the ball straight to save my life, but I found a way to score. Today I'm hitting the ball better than I have in a very long time, but had one bad swing on 6, hit it in the water. I'm emotionally confused right now, but we got 4 holes left. I literally need 2 eagles and 1 birdie down the stretch to even have a chance. So let's go do that.
All right, go in!
Go in, baby! Woo-hoo!
Stephen Curry for birdie.
Bunker time. We going to the beach, huh? We going to the beach.
The future of Golphin's staff is looking very bright. We don't have a lot of time to really put into his game, so once we have that opportunity, we know exactly what we need to do in terms of the work. Very confident that he's going to be able to get himself into a great spot with his game.
Woo!
All right, that's a wrap. 2026 is over. Had a great run. Too many double bogeys and a good amount of birdies and the good times with the fellas. So next year we back again. 2027, I got some work to do. Go win some basketball games and then we'll be back on the golf course. Ah, I wanted that one.
And it's Marty's moment once again here.
More from Stephen

Just touched down in Beijing. See yall tomorrow! #stephencurry #currybrand #lining
