Mini Conversations with Major Results

Webinar-style conversation (Alicia and Imran) about using simple, personal video to build and maintain business relationships—especially during COVID-era lockdowns. Distinguishes marketing/production-focused video from short, direct videos sent one-to-one; recommends checking in, showing presence/empathy/gratitude, and using tools (BombBomb, Chrome extension, social messengers) to send short asynchronous videos.

We should take it away. It is your webinar. Go right ahead. We'll start with our agenda.
Yes. Thank you. We're going to talk just a little bit about simple video. I know you guys are very, very familiar with video, but I just want to talk a little bit more about why simple video matters so much. And then I want to talk to you guys about three ways that you should be using simple video right now in your business, because it's not business as usual. So I'm going to talk through that, and then I want to share some resources for you guys that are free to you and available for you to dive deeper into video and sharpen your skills. So that's kind of where we're going to kick it off today. This idea of simple video, though, this is something that Bombbomb has been. Where we started was not necessarily video for marketing, but more using video as a communication tool. I like to try and explain the difference between the two this way. Video for marketing is more like the spaghetti you throw on the wall to see what sticks, right? You just put it out there. You sometimes put a lot of work into it. Production, money, time, thought process into, you know, making a good listing video, or how you're going to, you know, know, introduce your team on that website video, where a simple video is more just about human, direct to the people that you are wanting to make a connection with. And we've seen simple video suddenly become very, very popular. I think the first thing that I saw that kind of got my wheels turning on this was when Chris Martin from Coldplay went live on Instagram at his piano and was just taking questions and taking requests and singing songs. That's simple video, right? It's just him being human. He wasn't selling anything. He wasn't promoting anything. He was just using it. And if you've been on social media during this lockdown, you've seen a lot of celebrities doing this. So that's really where that difference is between marketing versus more video for relationships. And obviously, if you've been in any of my sessions yet.
Go ahead, Go ahead. I'm sorry.
Well, if you've been in any of my sessions, you've probably seen this slide before that says relationships through video. And right now, this season that we're in, this is the best possible thing that you could be doing with your time, is using video to actually invest into the relationships with the people that have built your business.
Love it. So here's what I was going to say. And for those of you that are Watching. If you want to put in the chat section a little bit of what you're doing. What you're talking about, Alicia, is when you say that it goes to the masses, the marketing piece and the lighting, like the ring lights and everything set up for the perfect video, and you're going to cut it seven times and make sure that you don't have the chins instead of. You have the chin instead of the chins, and you're trying to perfect it. That is marketing. And the reason why I look at marketing being it's cool, but it doesn't involve rejection. Right? Because you're going to the masses and nobody goes, hey, Alicia, it's Emory, and I just wanted to call you to let you know that I'm not gonna use you. Nobody does that because marketing goes out to the masses. Whereas if you send a direct video and you say to somebody, hey, I'm talking to you, there's a chance of rejection. There's a chance of, hey, that was awesome that you sent me that, but I'm really not interested in selling my house right now. That in itself prevents people from doing stuff because it's a prospecting, and it has a direct chance of saying, we're not interested. And most agents are afraid of that, both in real life and in person and over the Internet through a video. But like we were talking about and why we created this webinar in particular, is to make sure that you're having those conversations with people, even if it is recorded, because you're saying, hey, I'm talking to only you. And that's important because it shows that you've taken the time out of your day to talk to one specific person. Second, somebody calls you, does a handwritten note. This is the 2020 version of that. Yeah, go ahead, Alicia, I'll let you do your thing.
Which is a perfect segue into this. First thing that you absolutely should be doing with video is checking in. Okay? Normally, I would tell you to never, ever send a video that says, hey, just checking in, or making that phone call, hey, I'm just checking in with you. That's not good practice. However, right now, this is exactly what you should be doing, but not just to check a box. And that's where I feel like that differentiation that Imran was just talking about is so important. I do not want to see anyone recording a video that says, hey, it's Alicia from XYZ Realty. I'm just thinking about you guys. How are you doing? Do you need anything? And sending it to 250 people. Just because you can send that to 250 people at 1 and check a box, that's not really investing in a relationship. So it's really, really not hard. You can click through that for me. Emerin. It's as simple as just pressing that record button and saying, hey, I'm thinking about you. How are you? Julie Thomas. Okay. Do you need anything? Right. It's just. That's it. Now, can you add more information in that video? Can you, you know, share what's happening in your world? Yeah, absolutely. But the goal of this is just to show up and be present.
People that are connecting or somehow connected on social media one way or another, whether they're following them on ig, they're following them on Twitter, they're Facebook friends with them. It would take 30 seconds for you to just look and see what your people are doing and say, hey, you. You posted another video or photo of you and your dog cuddling in bed there in Colorado because you were in a quarantine. I just wanted to say what a cute video that was. And I'm not talking about anybody specific. Alicia Baroody. Okay, so go.
No, totally. That's really what it's about. And I put these at the bottom here. Presence, right? Showing up and being a presence in their life right now. Empathy, empathizing with them. Hey, like, this is hard. Are you okay? Gratitude right now is a really, really great opportunity to show gratitude to the people that have built your business. A lot of the people that are in your sphere, past clients, they may be in a very financially difficult situation right now, and you can offer service of whatever kind. But that really comes from a heart of gratitude of saying, hey, like, I'm so grateful that you had given me an opportunity to serve you before. How can I be present? How can I show up for you right now? So a couple quick notes on this if you want to go to the next slide. Number one, they are likely not seeing very many human faces right now other than the people that they are in their house with. So it is going to be a very welcome thing to see your face. Now, I'm not saying don't call. If you want to call your clients, great, awesome. Pick up the phone, make one to one phone calls. Statistically, you are not likely to get a lot of them on the phone, and that's fine. The ones that you don't get on the phone, that's a perfect time to send the video. Because asynchronous, right. You don't have to have their attention in that moment. Because if they are in the same situation like a lot of us are, they are working from home, parenting, teaching from home, dealing with the stress of all of this. And so they may not have the time to actually carve out time and get on the phone with you, but you can record it when it makes sense for you, you send it to them, they get to watch it back. Okay, now you don't have to do this through Bombbomb. It's easy and great to do it with Bombbomb, but you can also send these quick check in messages on Instagram Messenger, Facebook messenger, but make it personal, don't put it in their newsfeed, make it direct to them. I will say one note about using Bombbomb for Facebook messenger and Instagram Messenger. I prefer to use Bombbomb if I'm sending video messages over Facebook messenger and I do that with our Chrome extension. Because if you send a Facebook messenger video through the video format on Facebook messenger, it only lets you do it for 20 seconds at a time. So you hold your finger down and then as soon as you lift your finger off, it pops that 20 second video into the message and then you would have to do it again. So I like using the Chrome extension because I can just record my whole video, grab the link and pop it into Facebook Messenger. It does not matter to me whether you use Facebook messenger video or Bombbomb video. What I want to make sure that you're doing is actually making the step to reach out personally, one to one over video to the people that you are connected to. Because watching videos of human faces stimulates serotonin production in your brain the same way as having a face to face conversation. So you have the ability, by sending a quick 30 second, 40 second video to someone in your sphere to actually affect their brain chemistry and the way that they move through their day just by simply sending a video.
So check this out. I've got a. I've got a hack, a tech hack as well as tech hack, texting and then a story. So for those of you. Let's see here, somebody's asking a question. For those of you that are using some form of that pegs P E G S that Alicia just brought up in the last slide. Drop that in the chat box. I'd love to know what you're doing that people are resonating to. So you're sending out this message via video and they're responding to you. I want to know about that. But what I usually do with texts that I want to send out is. First of all, I never make the assumption that they have my number in their phone, whoever is receiving. So I save myself as a contact in my phone with the way that I wanted to save. So I put the photo of me with my arms folded in.
