When you start a new channel or you pivot to an existing one, YouTube's algorithm doesn't yet know who your audience is or what your content should be recommended for. So essentially, the algorithm is just asking itself, who's most likely to click this? Who's most likely to watch all the way through? And who's most likely to come back for more? So the platform enters a learning phase where it collects data points across multiple uploads to calibrate its understanding of your channel. This period is which strategists formally call the calibration period, the time it takes for YouTube's recommendation system to find your ideal audience and start consistently servicing your videos to them.
