Initiation to Life and Death - The Separation of Body and Soul

In this episode of "Conversations with the Universe," host Sylvia Leifheit channels a cosmic guide (Speaker B) to discuss the gradual detachment of the soul from the physical body. The dialogue outlines a multi‑stage process that begins when the body’s vitality wanes, leading to a shift in perception, increased interest in spiritual material, and a slow, often years‑long, separation. The guide describes the energetic link between body and soul as a fine, carpet‑like line extending through the auric field rather than a literal "silver cord." As the soul detaches, the aura (the radiating soul energy) diminishes, the body’s functions slow, and consciousness fades. Practical advice is offered—rest, meditation, reading, listening to music—to help individuals become aware of the process. The conversation also clarifies that physical death typically precedes the final detachment, which can occur up to seven days after death, and emphasizes that the experience varies widely among individuals. Philosophical reflections address free will, the metaphor of the body as shackles, and the ultimate purpose of incarnation as a path to soul freedom. The episode concludes with a hopeful tone, encouraging joy and love in the journey, and hints at a future discussion about "soul energy in the wrong form."
Chapters
Dear human, dear soul, I welcome you to my podcast series Conversations with the Universe. Since a near-death experience, I have the gift to communicate with subtle levels of the cosmos. The knowledge from these for us invisible forms of energy I capture in my books, and it is now a great pleasure for me to share this knowledge, these conversations, with you as a supplement to the books. Please excuse me if the terms and articulations are not perfect. Our mother tongue is German, but we try to translate it to the best of our abilities. Thank you. Dear friend of the Indians, you said that you wanted to talk about what exactly happens when the body separates from the soul or vice versa, the soul from the body. Please begin.
The separation of body and soul is a very slow process. During this time, various unforeseen circumstances could arise, but you will be able to deal with all of them.
Then it would be the best to start from the beginning. We assume that it isn't a sort of propelling of the soul out of the body. We are talking here about the slow separation, right?
Yes, exactly. That would be something entirely different, because if the soul would be propelled out of the body, this would be a shock for the soul. We have talked about this before.
Yes, this is why we will stick to this subject here of slow separation. I would ask you to describe the different steps of how this happens, or whatever else you want to say. Yes.
In the context of your own deeper understanding of the cosmos, I would like to go into greater detail. What is special about this process is that it is not entirely directed by free will, as this was the case at birth. Here, there are many more energies involved than during birth. When life in the body wanes because the organs become weaker or because the body is getting tired, then the soul energy that carries awareness and love is gradually taking leave of it. This leave-taking, as it were, is the first step of separation. The soul energy that had Hitherto being tethered to the body is now beginning to concentrate more on the cosmic energy. Primarily, this engenders a shift in perception. Then you might, for instance, read books about angels or seek out and prefer to read about other sources of information on spiritual energy.
That is not the case with everyone. Many people do not like these sorts of things until the end of their lives. What about these people?
They do not take this shift in perception seriously.
Or could it be that they do not even perceive it? No.
Everyone feels differently as soon as the soul begins its journey of separation. Everyone. Those who have no wish to study cosmic law do not tend to reflect on their life experiences but instead tend to dwell on certain memories of themselves as young people and other memories of their lifetime. Others, however, direct their attention to this change in perception and suddenly feel differently than ever before. More expansive, more loving, or warmer. This is the soul striving to expand. It wakes up to its own life after a lifetime of not living these perceptions. The weakness of the body makes this possible.
Okay, so this is the first process. How long will this take?
This can take years. It really only depends on the waning of the physical strength of your body. Past things will be reflected in a different way, and this is part of the awakening of the soul into its own perception.
Oh.
And then, when the awareness of the soul is expanding and the body is getting weaker and weaker, there are also other energies at work. Also, the human body cannot move as fast anymore, yet the Soul has always been much faster than the human body. The increasing energy of the Soul creates divergences in the body that is perceived in different ways. The channeling of the energies into the Soul, and at the same time the fact that the body does not block them as much as it used to, leads to far less physically oriented awareness. Then begins the phase of communication with the cosmic energy. All that the people need to be aware of this is a lot of rest, but very few of them consider this communication as a proper part of the journey. Instead, they experience it in an unconscious fashion.
But friend of the Indians, most people experience this completely unconsciously. Please give me a few tips. What can people do in such a phase when the soul opens and detaches from the body? Should they meditate maybe? Is there anything they should do more?
This is a beautiful question again. Thank you, Sylvia Leifheitheit. They could read more. And more books that talk about the cosmic connection. They could listen to meditative music, or they could just meditate by themselves. The forms are endless.
So that means in principle that in this phase you develop a sort of talent that makes you want to communicate with the cosmos more than ever.
Exactly. As a human, you are so distracted that communication with the other worlds appears to be very difficult. But as soon as the soul begins to detach, the tools of the soul become more available to you. And if you exercise concentration, you will be more and more able to sense cosmic impulses.
Okay, and what happens next?
The next step is the actual final detachment of the soul. It begins extremely slowly, as in slow motion, if you would like a visual image for this, to leave its husk.
But how do I have to imagine this when you say as in slow motion, since time does not exist with you? To try to describe it in terms of a time period on Earth. Is it something that lasts a minute, a second, a month, a year, a week, a day? Well, on average? I know it's difficult, but please try.
The special thing about this is really that I cannot describe it in terms of time. I'm sorry. Because expansion can happen in a second, but it can also last several years. Therefore, know that only detachment itself happens in a sort of slow motion, but how long this will take in terms of your time measurements can vary from case to case.
So, in principle, the soul leaves the body very slowly. If you think in terms of normal life, time in which you move normally, then the soul would be leaving the body in a sort of slow-motion process. Okay, but the slow-motion process differs from individual to individual and so will not fit just one description. I got that, correct?
Correct.
So everything that does not happen through shock or propos— propulsion is a slow-motion process. But as I said before, you cannot really say how long it is and will take. Yes. And what exactly happens when the body— no, with the body then?
You lose your concentration. You begin to babble, for the body will become a rudderless boat. Consciousness and the connection to the cosmic cosmos gradually weaken, and during this process different energies are at work. One of them is the life energy itself, the Chi, but the Chi receives its power from the Source, and when the soul gradually leaves the body, the body very gradually loses connection to the power Source. Therefore, the organs become weaker and weaker. That in turn accelerates the detachment of the soul. The last thing that tethers the soul to the body is the line of connection.
Do you mean the silver cord? We have never talked about this before. I mean, I have read about that in other books, but you never talked about that before. What exactly do you mean?
I know this description of a silver cord, but I do not endorse it. For in essence, this is not a silver cord. It is a connecting power that is far more than just a cord. The image distorts the facts too much for my liking.
Then please describe it exactly. What does it look like? It if it's not a cord.
The last band that connects body and soul is a fine line, but it extends over the whole body, not like a cord with a beginning and end, but a sort of plane consisting of a fine line that connects the body like a carper with the soul.
You mean a carpet?
A carpet, sorry.
And how do I have to imagine this when the soul is in this process of detachment? Is it above the body, near the body, or whatever? Where is this carpet? Is it wrapped around the whole body?
Yes, it is.
Ah, so first we have the soul in the body, it begins to detach, and then in the last phase It is like a kind of carpet wrapped around the whole body. This means that it is no longer inside the body, but it surrounds the body. Do you mean around the body in the sense of the skin boundary, or do you mean it in the auric field?
In the auric field.
Ah, so the soul has definitely left the body and is now only in this energy field. Yes. But you have not said anything about the aura yet. This is difficult now.
Let me breathe at this. Dear humans, the body is the connection of the cosmic energy with the material energy of your planet. The development of the tools of the body creates the basis on which the soul enters the body, and with the help of these tools, it experiences a journey through time. During this entire time, the soul energy radiates through you, through every cell. It does not reside in the solar plexus, or the heart, or the third eye, or the— whatever places you assign to it. No, it resides always in every cell of your body, like a great energy field that permeates all the organs and all places in your body. This energy field is radiating, and this radiation is the aura. So, what I have described before means that this Soul energy slowly leaves the body during transition, but it lingers on in the energy field of body and soul. This last phase is the last moment in which the soul gives the body any sort of energy through the connection with the Source, the Chi, and also the last moment in which the body all— allows the soul any sort of expression. Talking, reading, laughing, crying, singing, all the sensual activities of your existence can only be experienced through the tools of your body.
Yes, I know. So now the soul is in this process of detachment, it leaves the body to go into the auric field outside of the body, and what then?
The most important thing for me to mention would be that the body changes perception and that you would feel as if you were in a cloud. Your thoughts become less clear, your emotions wane, everything fades because the Qi energy is fading like a motor that receives less and less energy. Less fuel, if you want. The beats get slower, as do the speed, the movement, everything connected to this motor.
Somehow this, this machine example is funny, but I understand what you mean.
The body is in certain respects a machine that is driven by the soul.
Okay, and what happens when the soul has left the body entirely? Or rather, how does that happen? Does it decide to do so, or does it simply happen?
This is the soul's decision, but it also has cosmic reasons. For when the physical energy is so weak that it cannot hold the conscious mind any longer, the energy leaves on its own accord. You know the energy potential that is necessary to to even carry a soul.
Yes, I know. You have talked about this before. You need at least the size of a mouse to allow a soul to incarnate. Below that, there are just bodies without consciousness, just chi-driven bodies.
Yes, exactly. And when the energy sinks to below the level of a mouse, then the soul impulse is to leave for cosmic reasons. It is no longer possible to hold such a low amount of energy in the body any longer.
Okay, and that means that the soul is gone from one minute to next?
From one glimp of your eye to the next.
But what about death? I mean, when exactly during these phases does death happen?
This is a whole different subject. Here we are only talking about the phases of detachment. The last phase is usually already the phase in which people no longer have any consciousness and are either just vegetating in a foggy state or have actually given up the body. The detachment of the soul in the last phase is actually only possible 7 days after death. Death.
Ah, I understand. So this last phase also encompasses the physical death, but it does not mean that the detachment of the soul triggers the process of the physical death, but that physical death has happened sometime before and the soul remains in the auric field, and then sometime later, in the last moment, it leaves. Yes.
You explained this beautifully. No, really. It is difficult for me to clearly name these structures because ultimately all of this is energy, energy fields which merge, work, and journey on. The clarity of the true processes is easier for me to describe as long as they are not physical.
I understand. So all energetic processes are easier for you to describe than the physical. That means that the actual death of the body is not easy for you to perceive and also not quite so important, at least, right?
Right.
I understand. What if the soul has left and the body now is left without this energy? Doesn't it start to rot now? Yes. Oh Gott, that is really strange, this feeling to imagine that we will all leave this body one day and that then it remains behind. It is just a sort of cast-off dress for the soul, just for this time around. You have experienced all these things with it and suddenly it isn't there anymore. It is very moving. I mean, Isn't there any sort of sentimentally? Does the soul actually say, yes, like I just did, oh well, it was nice, thank you for the memories and all what we have experienced together, or something like that? Would it be like that?
No, the soul only makes use of the flesh and its tools, but it is not conscious energy? Or do you talk to your dress?
No, of course not. But there are a few favorite pieces, even with cars. That is sometimes in life. You have driven them for a long time and then you have not take them to the scrap heap and somehow you are attached to them. This is what I mean. You understand?
I understand that a car could become your friend.
Okay, so you have a very pragmatic view on that. I got that as it's— this is a dress and that's it.
Actually, yes.
Okay, but we agreed that the soul radiates through the body.
Yes, yes, you see the soul radiate through the body.
But what about people? I mean, I often have to deal with people, with very beautiful people, through one of my businesses, but you cannot generally say that these people are possessed. A beautiful soul. I know what I'm talking about.
You don't need to do that, because if you watch them unfold over a longer period of time, if they develop their love and awareness, they will also radiate beauty even in old age. And if you look at others that do not carry these qualities, then you will not find beauty, right?
Yes, so you mean this is in any case just a temporary kind of beauty and harmony that we see and that the soul's true beauty only unfolds in the course of time over a longer period of time, right?
Right.
Well, there are also very many very beautiful people who are still beautiful in old age, but let's not get carried away. The beauty of the soul has nothing to do with beauty As humans understand it.
Absolutely. Souls radiate kindness, loving action, trust, warmth, empathy, and strong energy, irrespective of what the body that they inhabit looks like. But all the energy of the soul radiates further than the physical.
Okay, I understand. What I haven't managed to understand so far is at what moment the soul decides, "I will go now." This is really— I mean, this really tends to be a moment that was triggered by physical defects, right?
That is correct. When the body loses energy, it triggers the soul's impulse to leave.
Yeah, like with the mouse. This means we can sum up: with death, we have a process of very slow detachment. Well, in the best case scenario, and with the birth, a process of slowly getting used to the body, in and out again, in and out, in and out again. And this means that these are two completely different processes, right?
That is correct. Giving birth is like a slower wedding with engagement, and courtship. Dying is a slow, soft-footed goodbye.
Why soft-footed?
You say that, don't you, when something happens slowly but continuously?
Yes, true, we say that. But I still do maintain that there are very many people who go into this process with very little awareness. I have hardly seen anyone who in the course of the process actually managed to change their perceptions in this way.
This is why we are writing this book, dear, so that people can open their perception and pay attention and so perceive those impulses that induce change, so that they may enjoy this process, because it's a journey that can provide many exciting experiences.
Yes, you said before that this process could also be unpredictable. What exactly could happen? I mean, what are the factors that you have to bear in mind?
No, it's only unpredictable in the sense that everyone experiences it in a different way. Some just continue to carry on with their lives in the same fog as before, whereas other people suddenly start perceiving things that they have never perceived.
I understand. So there are no dangers involved, right? Right. Only your own fears, right? Right. Okay, but there isn't anything you should be afraid of?
Absolutely. Life is guided by the cosmos and hence also death. There's nothing that you should be afraid of in this context.
Well, yes, but there are these wonderful images the people have invented of hell and whatever? For example, of ghosts in the afterlife and other such stuff. What about that?
Nothing about that. Sorry, but it has no place here.
Would you like to say anything else about this?
Yes, of course. The most important thing about this process is that you walk this path joyfully. The liberation of the soul from the physical shackles of a whole life is in truth also a beautiful journey. It is a journey that offers beautiful new experiences. So I would ask you to always stay in the perception of joy. Whatever awaits you, it will carry you onwards towards the next step.
Are these your final words for this chapter?
Yes, indeed. At the end of this chapter, I would like to ask you to consider this: the being that you are wishes to experience how it can unfold in a more concentrated way, free from the shackles of a body. What is so frightening about that?
Well, may I ask a question about that?
Of course.
It is frightening for them because they do not know what exactly this path looks like.
But we have tried to establish this here. It should be fun, of joy, full of love, full of energy, full of warmth, sublime and limitless. You are responsible for this path, no one else is. So answer this question as you would have it answered, and this will be your new path.
Just one more question, a short one. You talk about the shackles of the body that then fall and liberate the soul. But hasn't the soul decided freely to step into the shackles of the body in the first place?
Yes.
But then this is no liberation, but just another step, because who goes into slavery of his own free will?
Oh, Sylvia, this is so typical Sylvia. If you didn't ask those questions, my existence would be almost boring. But the answer is very simple. The liberation of the soul will always stand above the decision for incarnation. But incarnation is an important process here to experience the soul's freedom and the unfolded. So I have chosen the word shackles very deliberately in order to underline the longing for freedom. Do you understand me?
Yes, I understand this very well. One extreme in order to experience the other extreme.
Finally!
Well, it is a pity there are just a few people who really feel the power of this liberation, who really want to experience and unfold.
Usually they end up in this lethargy of the, well, that's the way it is, well, This is said without judgment, dear, but you do also meet people who feel this energy, don't you?
Yes, but very rare. Okay, is there anything else you would like to add to this chapter? Nothing? A final remark?
Yes.
What? What is it?
Life is your chance to become whole.
Nothing else?
Nothing else.
Okay, then thank you very much. And what is the next subject?
The next chapter is the description of the soul energy when it has received the wrong form.
A wrong form? Wow, how can that happen? That's very interesting. I'm very much looking forward. Thank you. Love.
Thank you, Sylvia Leifheitheit.
Love.
