"Stand by Me" (a capella - Digitech JamMan Stereo Looper) - Tanner Lee Bechtel

Tanner Bechtel builds "Stand by Me" layer by layer using a Digitech JamMan Stereo Looper, stacking vocal parts in real time. Any mistake shows immediately when you're layering harmonies live, but a clean loop surprises audiences who realize it's all one voice.
Chapters
Hey there, Tanner Bechtel here. I have something cool to try today for video. Behind me you see two microphones. And then on the floor you'll see Move the right way, a little blinking thing on the floor. That's my pedal board. On my pedal board, I have a bunch of cool different effects pedals that I use for shows. The one I'm going to use today to try a piece of music is called Stereo Looper. I use this in my live shows and I use it a lot to underpin the rhythm section to a piece of music so I can play the lead over it. If I do it right, nobody ever knows I used it. They just hear the full piece of music. What I've been playing around with is actually looping entire songs with my voice. So actually creating layers loop by loop and building the entire song. It makes for a really cool stage environment song. So much so that when I'm playing it live, people will be watching. And then it will take them a minute to figure out what I'm doing because they're hearing multiple voices. And then by the time I lay down key tracks, they know what the song is and they really dig it. So the song I'm going to do today is called Stand By Me. And Stand By Me is a perfect loop. It actually does the same track all the way through, so it lets you actually lay the track down and the track plays throughout. The whole song creates a really, really cool finished product. So instead of talking, I'm going to actually do it. And there's two things I have to nail when I create this piece. I have to nail timing and I have to nail harmony. And if I miss either one, it's going to be starkly obvious. But if I get it right, it's going to be really cool. So this Stand By Me done on a stereo looper, fully live, all my voice, no effects. There you have it. So let's see if I can make it work. Do. Do. Do. D. Do.
The two. Jesus. When the night has come
and the
land is dark and the moon is the only light we'll see I won't cry I won't cry no more Shut up, tear Just as long as you're staying Stand by me so darling, darling stand by me oh, standing by me oh, stand, stand by me Stand by me when the sky we look upon to crumble and fall in the mountains should tumble to the sea I won't cry, I won't cry no heart won't shed a tear Just as I stand or stand by her knee so darlington Stand by me O standing by me oh, stand by me Stand by me. Stand by me Stand by me Stand by me
and that's a full stereo loop. And that is a lot of fun to do live. And that's it. Thanks for watching.
