Chad Van Horne, welcome back.
Latasha K, my favorite time of the week. I say it every time, and you know it's the truth. I love being here with you.
I know it's your favorite time of the week. We ain't never got to look for you. Always on time. I'm the one that's late. Every time I label my own shit. So listen, glad that we could be of service over here, especially when all these dark things are going on on the internet, especially when a lot of people got a lot of, you know, just financial dark things going on. And so listen, I got to, you know, you got to dust your shoulders off because Carlos, see, we got an actual testimonial in. He goes, I was overwhelmed with debt, losing sleep, and unsure how I would ever recover. Thanks to this incredible support, Oh, I'm sorry. Thanks to their incredible support and expertise, I now have a fresh start and a peace of mind, and I thought I'd never find again. Debts totaling $456,460.87, and you cleared all of it.
Yeah, Carlos is a good guy, and when he came in, man, he was at the end, end, end of his rope. I'm talking lawsuits, business loss, everything and to get rid of almost $500,000 worth of debt. And over the last month, we've gotten rid of over $10 million worth of debt discharged.
So let me spin on that one time. Look, $10 million worth of debt. We need to add some more to it.
Look, man, we've been putting in that work and I'm glad that Carlos is happy. He's already rebuilding. I mean, it's a fantastic feeling. Feeling. And I love just seeing people's lives turn around. It really only took about 4 to 5 months too, which was incredible.
That's how long it took when I filed bankruptcy the first time. It took like maybe 3 months with like almost $200,000 in debt.
And that's the average. The average is about 97 days from the date of filing till the end at this point. So yeah, about 3 months is right on. There's a little more to this case, so it took a little longer, but He couldn't be happier. And that's just a fantastic review. And it's a testament to my team and the work that we're doing here.
So was this a Chapter 7?
Chapter 7. Yep.
Damn, son. I'm kind of jealous, bro. I'm thinking I should have won something like that, but it's all good. I'm always trying to compare my situation to you. Let me see what I can save on. But I'm telling you, listen, I got— like I said, I got a sister. And I asked her the other day, I was like, when are you going to just call Chad? I, I'm— I, I got the hookup. Call him. Why are you worried about if they're gonna take your house or take your car? Why? And she's like, I know, I just, I just need somebody to put a battery in my back. All you need to do is use that cell phone.
Yeah, and we're here 6 days a week, so there's really no excuse. So we're here 8 AM to 7 PM, we're here on Saturdays. So whatever your schedule is, we can make it fit within ours and And, you know, since it's your sister, you can give her my cell, my direct email. She can text whatever form you like communicating with us. We'll communicate back to you. Uh, let's get you out of debt, right?
You met her one day when we— y'all was doing the negotiations with the other party, and I brought her to the office. That was the hectic day. That was like the war day. I, I, I remember it well.
I remember it well. Yes, her.
And she's like, man, it looks like they do— I said, they doing their damn job and they doing it well. Like I I literally meditated on you, Chad. I kept coming back, 5-star reviews. I was just like, I need a really good bankruptcy attorney because everybody kept telling me impossible. Well, it's possible for this, this. And you just said, let's just go, let's just do it. That's all you can do is try, right?
Action over inaction. So many people get frozen in these scenarios, and that's the worst thing you can do. I mean, if you're not going to make, if you're not going to make a change, you're going to get the same results over and over again, and you're going to deal with that stress. So Um, I, I tell all my clients, let's make it happen. Maybe it's going to be a bumpy road, but I'd rather go through the bumpy road, have hope on the other side, get you to that other side so that you can start to rebuild instead of just thinking about all the options or bad things that could happen.
You know what I like about you? You don't look overly stressed like other lawyers. Chad, your skin good. You got a tan all the time. Your teeth white. The other lawyers be coming into court, they be pissy, suits be wrinkled. Skin be bad, they be stressed.
Yeah, life is too short to be stressed. I was just in court, uh, yesterday actually, and I can't even tell. Yeah, I was just in court and they sent me in there, and actually it's fun now because I've gotten to know the judges and obviously my colleagues. It's fun to see them. Yeah, and, and you're right, unfortunately, you know, lawyers are known for, uh, being alcoholics, being out of shape, not taking care of their health because they're pouring everything into their work. And then once, once they're outside of work, they kind of want to forget about it, and they don't do it in a healthy way. I'm fortunate to have a group around me that makes sure that I continue to exercise, eat healthy, and, uh, not drink too much wine. Enough wine, but not too much.
And they're keeping you debt-free.
Absolutely, right? Absolutely.
So listen, let's talk about it. You know, we talk about the celebrities over here, what they got going on financially, and I said I was going to wait for you to come sit down to talk about Damon Dash. Man, $25 million in debt. He put it under a Chapter 7. That's really bold. I'm sure there's going to be, um, you know, some adversary filings. Chad, did you look over that case?
I looked through these schedules and it's gonna be a rough road for my guy Dame. And, um, you know, a lot of respect for him. He put out there, let's get, get to work. I respect that he's going to do that, but some of the debt, or the majority of the debt, is tax debt. And generally speaking, tax debt is non-dischargeable unless it's older than 3 years, there was no fraud, and there's some other things. So hopefully some of that tax debt will go away. Uh, the other debt is marital support obligations or domestic support obligations, which that's not going away. And unfortunately, I looked into some of the cases and he has some defamation judgments and other lawsuits and judge, uh, judge judgments out there that could be found to be non-dischargeable in bankruptcy as well. I didn't realize, first off, he lived in Florida and the address that he put was for a UPS store in Florida. Um, so I don't know what's going on with that. There's a lot of red flags. Hope— hopefully everything goes through smoothly, he gets his discharge and he moves on. Uh, I wish he would have hit me up I would have gave him some advice, but hopefully his attorney is a fantastic attorney, knows what he's doing, um, because there's a lot of scrutiny coming for this bankruptcy just because of all the people that are listening.
Let's hope that attorney good allowing him to use a UPS address, because I know at the Van Horn Law Group that would not go down.
Yeah, if, if you would have came up— and, and you're creative, so you come up with a lot of ideas, but I feel like it's our job to let you know what creative ideas we could work with and which ones we're absolutely not going to go with, especially not for $25 million in debt. No, no. And, uh, and the attorney— as attorneys, we have to disclose how much we get paid for the bankruptcy. And, uh, this attorney got paid $5,000, which I don't know if that's enough for everything that they're going to have to deal with, because there's some big names in there— Chris Brown, E.W. Brooks, Josh— I mean Josh Weber. There's some big names in there that I think are going to be coming down to the Middle District of Florida, uh, to, to enter into that case. And I, I think it's going to be a long case, unfortunately. I hope I'm wrong. I want him to get his discharge.
They'll call you, because they called you for another celebrity. Can I say the name?
No, no, we, we don't— let's not put my clients on blast.
Is it— it's marketing though, and marketing and PR. Look, it, it is.
But yeah, I I, you know, I, I got to take care of my clients. That's the first thing I got to do.
If it's public record, I'm going to look for it.
I know you are. That's, that's why, that's, that's why you're good at your job, because you're, you're an investigative reporter too. So I get it.
I'mma go look for it. Look, we'll talk about that later. Why though? Don't worry, just stay tuned. Listen, um, yeah, we ain't gonna put Chad on blast because he already said no on Runkle, so he clear with his client. I did not tell her to say that, as you saw. But, um, he owes Chris Brown $100,000.
Yeah, and, and Chris Brown, I guess, is suing him as well. Uh, I guess there was a documentary that he was part of at one point, and, um, so Chris Brown sued basically everybody that, that was engaged in the documentary of, uh—
I heard that one that they were trying to take Chris down with, and it didn't work. I don't even know why Chris is, like, wasting his, his money, but, um, it may be a big payday for him because they didn't I don't know, did they defame him if he's still on tour?
Correct. Yeah, they, they defamed him. And actually, one of the issues that I think Chris would have on, on that is showing damages, because obviously he's still on tour right now, he's still making money. So there really aren't damages, because that's one thing that you have to get to the, uh, even if you win the case, you have to prove that you've been damaged. And, um, obviously it pissed him off, that's why he's he's suing. Um, but if there's no damages, because he seems to be killing it right now, uh, at least outwardly.
I'm flying through stadiums, flying through the air. My friend just said, just kept going like this, like, when is he gonna sit down? He just kept flying. He had a big budget for the show. Yeah, so he's straight. And I'm definitely with no sponsors.
And I'm definitely going to Breezy Bowl. So I mean, it's unbelievable. I, I need to see it before he gets too old to be doing these things. I still don't know how he's doing it. He is a freak of nature, right?
He be on that lean, allegedly. Listen, um, those are my words, not Chaz. Anything that's said on here is the thoughts and opinions of Tasha K and Tasha K only, okay? Listen, um, we've seen video with it, but listen, um, Julie, you got another female— you got another woman. Let me, let me get it right. Not, not female, woman, because you know there's a lot of political talk going on out here. Let me make sure. Her name is Julie A. She says her case, uh, my case was particularly complex because I was filing in for personal bankruptcy while also owning a business. That's different. Okay. Despite the challenges, the entire team treated me with kindness, respect, and professionalism. Thank you to Van Horn Law Group for standing by me and helping me through one of the most difficult times in my life. I am forever grateful. And she is forever grateful because you cleared— I don't know how you did this— $1,153,243.15. Since.
Yeah, and we had a fight, $1.2 million worth of debt, and we had a fight for this one. This was a Chapter 7 as well, so liquidation. And, and the problem when you have a business and you're going through an individual Chapter 7 is most people are 100% owners of that business, so the trustee and creditors get to look inside that business regardless of what bankruptcy chapter that you file. So, uh, there were 2004 examinations, which Rule 2004 allows the trustee and creditors to ask questions Everything.
I went through it. Every— well, my husband did. I didn't do nothing. I just— he did. He dealt with all that paperwork. But it's, it's a lot.
It's a lot. Yeah, they request all this paperwork, and, and if you don't provide it, they can revoke your discharge, meaning that $1.2 million sticks with you for life. If— and, and they can compel you to do it. They— if, if it gets really bad, they can put you in jail. That doesn't really happen that often, but they can put you in jail until until there's compliance. And some of these 2004 exams go all day, 8 hours.
And, uh, I sat in those, I know, and, and they're, they're horrible.
And they are, they are terrible for everybody involved, really. Um, but it's really a fishing expedition where they just want to find any little thing to either get leverage on you to, to force a settlement, or find something that was hidden, go after it, sell it, and then try to revoke your discharge. So My team had to fight hard. Shout out to Stephanie, Attorney Stephanie. She oversees— I love Stephanie.
And one, just to let you know, Stephanie, a Black woman, she one of us. She was sitting in my 2004 examinations too. Shout out to Steph.
Hey, girl. Steph is my bulldog, man. She's so good. She is so good. Whenever anybody tries to bully me, I call Steph. I'm like, Steph, help me out.
And she's so nice with it too.
For sure. Now she, she doesn't— she, she does not take anything from anybody. She, and she, uh, been fighting her whole life and she fights for her clients.
I knew Steph was about that life, your lawyer that you had represent me when you weren't there. When I saw the car seat in the back with the fruit juice stains and, and the Chick-fil-A stains and everything like that, and she was on time, I said, oh, she ain't playing. With a baby seat in the back and driving down 95. She not playing. She dropped that baby off on time. She got to work.
Yeah, and her daughter's the cutest. That's my BFF. And, um, but you can tell when Steph is starting to get angry because she has a perfect American accent until she starts getting mad, and that Jamaican accent just comes out of nowhere.
I remember the first time I heard it.
I was like, you're Jamaican?
I never— I didn't know. I thought she was just regular American. No, y'all. So y'all make sure when y'all call the office, if you don't want Chad, ask for Steph, okay? Because Steph is a wino. She know all about it. Because I remember she had to give me a ride home one day, and when she was like, Tasha, so what happened here, girl? And what just happened? Like, I gave her her own private show in the car. I sure did. I was just like, I gotta get my mind off of this. But, um, she did tell me good job in my 2004, uh, examination. She really did. But Um, even though they had to sit through all of those 8-hour sort of like depositions per se, um, I mean, $1.2 million, I would say that would be well worth it because that lady— listen, Miss Julie A, I don't know if she watching the show, how you doing? I know it feel good being debt-free and still owning your business. Chad, how was she able to keep the business?
You know what's crazy about this? First off, you made me think of something. Julie A might have been somebody that listened to your show and gave me a call from that. So shout out to you for making that happen. I can't guarantee that, but I think that— I think looking back on it, okay, so I think, I think, yeah, I think Julie's part of the wino gang. And second, you have exemptions that you can use on the business, and if the business has its own debt and is operating as a separate entity, you can continue to operate that. The, the problem is if that business only owns things, like if it owned real estate or owned assets that could be sold, then the trustee takes control of those assets and sells it. This was, this was a case where Julie actually had an operating business, and it wasn't one of those businesses that you could just easily sell. If she left the business, it's kind of like if you leave your business, there's not really a business there anymore because you're, you are the business, and obviously it's growing bigger. Um, but, but Julie had a similar thing where she had her business, but she was the business. and she can't be forced obviously to continue working the business. So there was really nothing for the trustee to sell on an open market. So, uh, she ended up keeping the business, discharging the debt, and didn't have to pay a penny back because everything was exempt.
Mm-hmm. Listen, Chad, um, absolutely amazing. I'm kind of jealous. 1.2, she got it cleared out. Oh, 1.2. Listen, um, I just be throwing shots all the time. When you come back, I need you to talk about Alex Jones.
Done.
What they doing with that man up over there? I, I, all I know is he filed bankruptcy on billions of dollars. Billions of dollars. Like Red Lobster did that and ended up getting out. He's still in it and has converted from Chapter 11 down to a Chapter 7. They cannot sell his assets. I don't know, I haven't looked into the case. I can, I can only imagine there's a ton of filings. I don't know if you could pull one of your, your, your, you know, your law students to look into that case and tell you what's going on. But like, we need to know. We know.
Oh, I'm happy to go through all of that. I know a little bit about it and I know some of the attorneys that have worked in it. It is a complete mess. It's like no other case I've ever seen.
And yeah, next time we film, I'm going to make sure that I bring some notes for you because this case taught me a lot about my case and what could happen and what couldn't happen, especially being in the limelight, being sued for defamation and stuff. And so in his situation, I was just like, he probably do need to call Chad. Like, I mean, would you take him if he called you?
Why are you trying to give me all the crazy cases? Can I get some normal ones?
Why are you trying to give me— Because we need a non-crazy person for the crazy cases. Because you go above the craziness. And I've seen you when people try to get crazy and nasty, you take the high road. You be like, all right, so we just going to focus on this. How about that? And then they have to focus. They have to refocus. Trying to take you down. I've seen it happen.
Well, and I, I could only take so many on us at one time because it, you know, it takes my energy. I have a fantastic team, but I can't have my team fully focused on these out of the normal type cases, um, because that's when I step in and that's when I get my energy involved because I got to make sure those are going in the right direction because obviously There's more scrutiny. If you, if you have one little slip up, they're going to use that against you. They're going to use it as leverage to try to get more money. I mean, we know how this works. So, uh, yes, I'm happy to talk to anybody, but as far as taking on cases, I gotta make sure I have the bandwidth to be able to handle it.
That's a big case with him, and he says he only got $4 million in assets total combined. Combined, he's still operating. They're trying to sell him while he's operating, but like, if they sell it, like, what are they actually gonna get for it? So it's like, they might as well let him keep going so they can pay. Could they? We're gonna wait till next week. We're gonna wait till next week. I was gonna ask you, could you reconvert from a 7 back up? Could you? You could do that.
You can, you can. And, and from what I understand, was it The Onion that tried to buy?
Yeah, they shut it down.
Yeah, because it's, it's such a serious issue, like, but behind it, it's not just credit card debt or anything like that. It was years of litigation, lawsuits, judgments, appeals, all of that. So the short answer is yes, you can convert from 1107, then a 7, back to 11. And it does become this weird world where you become partners with your creditors, because in this scenario, he doesn't have that many hard assets that you could just take. So the more money he makes and that he can put into this, the better off the victims are going to be, obviously. Obviously. Um, but obviously the victims don't want to see this guy succeed, but if he doesn't succeed, then they're not going to get money. So it's a, it's a really weird situation, right? Right. It's a weird situation. And I see it all the time where we go into bankruptcy and we're like, hey guys, we got to work together now because if my client doesn't make money, you're going to get nothing.
That's exactly what you said about me. Yeah.
It's— that's what it comes down to. Do you want money or not, right? Do you want money or not?
What is this really about, right? And who's gonna forfeit that kind of money? So they're gonna be like, you know, in my English, let the bitch work. Chat, Chad don't talk like that, but I'm just saying. I'm gonna let her work, clock in, get an apron, let's go.
Um, man, we're off the road, we're off the rails.
Have the details for that, please. Next Thursday, I can't wait to hear about more lives, um, that you're saving, especially in debt, because that's like— it almost feels like you're dead when you, you can't do anything financially, because like, that's the whole experience. Because otherwise, like, if we didn't have money to do things, they couldn't do it, it's like, what's the purpose of living?
100%. And I've told many clients, like, if you don't want to go through bankruptcy, then just move to another country. Just be done with it. Move to a country where all these lawsuits, credit score, it doesn't matter.
Just, you know, cash only.
Cash only. Live on a beach and enjoy your life. Because just stressing about debt night in, night out, not being able to sleep, not being able to hang out with your family, not being able to basically live is no way to live. So I know if anybody's going through that, really make that call, even, even if you're not in Florida, not in Pennsylvania, where, where I can't help you. I'll make sure that somebody can, or reach out to somebody locally. I mean, the, the key is get the help.
I love it, I love it. Chad, what's the number? What's the number? They need the number.
Number is 954-637-0000. You can also book at vanhornlawgroup.com. We have a ton of helpful information on there, so If you're dealing with that, call me now. Go to my website today.
I love it. Thank you. And we'll see you next Thursday with more testimonials. And I want to see how much money you save. You got to have like a scoreboard. This is how much money we've saved in the community, like, every month.
No, I want one of those where it racks up, like the jackpot ones where it racks up outside the office.
Thank you so much, Chad. And yeah, we'll see you next Thursday. I cannot wait.
