Um, but yes, yes, I am honored to have you, Miss McKnight, and so are the winos, because you know this is your demographic. It is all women who have been there, done that, did it some more, and can show you a few things.
Absolutely. It's just the truth.
Yes, it is. So let's— first of all, before we even get into the mess of you and your ex-husband, I want to know about you, like, because you're quiet out here. You're an artist yourself, correct?
I am, I am internationally. I, I went— it was a blessing because I do house music, like house music, not— yeah, I dig EDM, I dig the techno, but no, this is house. And I went overseas in the middle of raising my babies, you know. I used to sing demos when I was like 16 for everybody back in the— this is way back. I'm dating myself— when record companies actually hired people to sing demos, and then they sent them to record companies. And sometimes I would hear the radio, and I would hear songs that Toni Braxton's singing or Monica's singing or whatever that I had actually demoed for things. So I just loved singing. And I let it— I just dropped it at the request of my then-husband. to fall back so he could.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold on, hold on. Talk about time out. You came out the gate now, you know, I can't ignore that he asked you to fall back after you were gaining success so that he could make room and walk through the door himself.
Yes. And it. Cause we met like most folk in, in college. And it was just— our families were always together. We were raised, you know. So my parents and his family were all close. I love his family so much. Mom Elaine, rest in peace. She was just one of my biggest support systems. That's his mom. And, um, so when we met, I was ready, you know.
Yes, passport wife. Uh, so that makes 4 baby mamas for Brian McKnight. That's 4. Yeah, that we know of.
That we know of.
Okay, the— our heartthrob that we fell in love with because he is attractive, he has an angelic voice.
Absolutely.
Never been seen in a negative light. So when we see him out here throwing shots at the kids. It's like, what is up? And it's like, now this is bringing— this is opening up so many doors. And so, you know, and for you to take a step back— now I do have to ask you this question: did he have babies while y'all were married on you? Um, I like these interviews because they allow us to like look deep inside, like, just an individual. And last year you went viral, um, Your mother, your mother died and she died during a voodoo priestess ceremony in the last round. Like, I guess this was the last stage and very last stage. My mom died in the middle of the ceremony and they kept dancing. What? So in the middle of the ceremony, okay, while they were possessed, my mom was a dead corpse in the dojo, which is like the space that they were in. Okay. And they kept dancing and being possessed by these spirits. Watch this full program and other exclusive content on www.tashaklive.com.

But Auntie Cheryl, I didn't run. I escaped. You can't escape family. I bet that thing has a few stories. More than you know. But she the only family I got out here. Now I know that's not true.
Your mother told me stories about you and your sisters. I think she would want them there. I think they would want to be here.
Pretty sure she ain't tell you everything. Apparently, look, the hospice nurse said that she might not make it through the night. Mom ain't did nothing but loved him. And I just don't understand how you go years without speaking to your own mom. But for her to know what was going on all those years and not do nothing about it, it's unforgivable.
So no, I don't have no intentions of holding your hand, okay? I'm not here to do that.
I want you to tell me where my son is, man. You know where your son at. I go see a counselor every week to make sure I'm on the up and up, all right? And he thought it'd be a good idea to write my thoughts down and shit. But we never talk about it.
You shut down and Kiara, you run from it.
So I'm the one that's left to take it. But the one thing that I've learned from all this is at the end of the day, all we have is each other. Watch this full program and other exclusive content on www.tashaklive.com.

Enters the screen. Happening. I feel like I got dropped off in a battlefield. On it. Wait, Ray J? Ray J with the 100 gifted. Ray J? That's real Ray J, nigga. I just kind of assumed it was just like a random person named Ray J. Happy holidays everybody, it's Ray J. All right, thank you for the 50. I think that is Ray J. W Ray J, man. With the 100 gifted. W Ray J in the W Ray J! Ray J from— you just get some 125 subs. I heard you wrote One Wish, is that true? Who the fuck said that? Is that your Ray J? Ray J, since when is this name mean it like that? Ray J, you can't say it like that. Damn, bro, you talking about— what up, Ray? What up? Shout out to Ray! Shout out, shout out, Ray J! What up? How are you? He had babies while y'all were married on you?
Oh, I'll, I'll put it this way, because I haven't met this baby. I did And even then, my philosophy was, if there are babies— people step out, people are tempted, they do what they do, they make their mistakes, and everything happens— and if as a result of that there's a child, that's my family. So it's the— even as mentioned in the book, the one sister that came to my house, she was pregnant. And as I know, and I let her know, please stay connected with me. This is my child. If, if this is in fact the case, then this is my sons who at the time were 1 and 2 and a half. This is their family. So no, I don't— I'm not gonna, you know, rah-rah with you. You are now a part of this tribe.
Assume the position.
Assume the position as a mother. As a mother. Now, at that point, when she came to let me know she was pregnant, he had nothing to do with it then. So even when he tried to rectify the situation, I let him know it doesn't even matter. It has nothing to do with you anymore. These are mothers. These are mothers, and these are our children, and the siblings are going to know each other. So she was one. And then I, I got the cutest picture. This is also in, in the middle of my two sons, of this beautiful baby boy and his mom. And she emailed me and she let me know that this is, you know, what this was. I don't know if that's the case, but even she was welcome to this is my family, you know, my children's family. So I— that question, I honestly have to say I'm not— I don't know the number of more. I would love to meet them though.
I wish I had the ounce of grace that you have and have displayed. I can read it all over you. And like I said, you would have been well within your right to enter the chat When the moment he said your kid's name on social media, which you have a right, you are a mother, these are your baby ducks. But you did not. You held for— but you held the fort. I said, Miss Julie, you coming? She said, Tasha, I came right now. I came right now. It was like, was that— was that really— you said you wanted to, you really wanted to enter the chat when he was coming for the kids, saying these are not my kids, these are my kids?
When I tell you that it took everything in me to not have my Memphis, Tennessee come out of me, to not have my 127th Street Los Angeles come out of me. These are my children. It took everything in me, but I have learned, thank God for my family, my parents, my mother, my grandmother, who was no joke, you know, she kept a shotgun under her bed. The other kept a shank in her— under her mattress. So I came from women that knew how to get at you. But for me, I have grandbabies, Tasha. I've got a 10-year-old grandson who carries the same name, who is now— that name has been changed. So imagine what he feels like Am I—
they changed the baby's name?
Well, their grandfather changed— when he changed his name to the new son's name, my grandson was affected by that. And I've got a 6-year-old and a buck wild 2-year-old granddaughter, and I have to always be aware of the fact that I am their grandparent significantly. At this point, they do not have a paternal grandfather. He is removed. Oh my God, the contact is not there. So the trickle-down effect that I think a lot of people are missing is it has absolutely nothing to do with my children, absolutely nothing to do with my love daughters.
Because y'all grown, because y'all grown. It's the grandkids.
It's the grandkids. And why are they not in correspondence with you? So for me, I'm the grandmom, and I— in this age of social media and YouTube and everything, I don't ever want my grandchildren to go back and say, well, this must be me because that's my grandmom and my granddaddy. Oh no, no, no, no, no, no, no. They're going to see a stark difference. And if they would have seen me at 30-year-old in Los Angeles, Gigi, oh, it'd have been a different thing.
I'm glad that you got that grace. I said that to— I said that to one of my ex-staff members. I said, you are lucky that I have been changed because old Tasha would have put your head through this concrete, no questions.
Absolutely.
I promise you, I promise you, you, you count that promise. But I have changed, and I have people, okay, that depend on me, understand?
Yes, right. But you know, that doesn't mean you let stuff go, right? That means you address it in the way you do. And believe me, they know it's getting addressed. They know that. And they're more— it's, it's, it's, it's more powerful when they're not getting it right at them, right?
Because they don't know how to strike now. Because like, you're— like, I tell people, like, you can't— you can't get into arguments and everybody talking at the same time. Nobody hears everybody. Everybody wants everybody to just shut up. Go fix yourself. Something is wrong with everyone. You stay quiet. You stay graceful. You said, Tasha, I'm coming. I'm gonna be right back. I'm coming. And then you hit me and was like, I got it. I got the story. I got the book. You know the winos, you know the winos gonna get you up on that book now. It don't matter what you say here today, they gonna buy that book. I know, because the fact that we thinking that all 4 kids came from one mom and he got 3 different baby moms and 4 different kids, which means y'all are not the problem.
No, that's the— that Latasha, I'ma tell you, sis, that has been the major component that I think people have missed. If you have issues with your— a lot of people like to say, well, they grown and they— he cut them. My sons and my daughters, my— well, our youngest, like I said, just turned 16, but the adult children, they have been successful in their own right. My two sons when they— I can't speak for them as adults, but I do know that their situation was when they went on the road with their dad, they were younger then. And I think a lot of people have the misconception that he was carrying them, he was supporting them. Absolutely not. So you have people that say Well, these are two grown men that are— a lot of the times I hear the word entitled, um, spoiled celebrity kids. My kids were— my sons were— I don't even want to call them— they're 35 and 32. They were working. They were on the road working contractually. So my sons, having been taught by the men in their families, predominantly their granddaddy, my father, who— this industry is what my dad did among a lot of other things. They knew what they deserved. So whether it's your father, whether it's your mother, whether it's your whoever, I am able to say to you, listen, I'm doing this job. I pulled back from doing other things. I need to be compensated in that way. And they weren't.
Are you mean to tell me Brian fell out— Brian McKnight, back at one, fell out with his grown children because he refused to pay them over contractual issues?
I, I can't say all of what happened, but I will say that my son's were uncomfortable with the financial situation they were in, and they needed to be able to do other things, and they wanted to do other things, but they weren't able to. So when— not until they pulled away could they move on to, to other endeavors. They wanted to run their own household, support themselves, do the things that they wanted to do, have other ventures, and they were put in a box that was a little bit controlling. But once they were able to come out of it, they could do their own music. My youngest could do, you know, they created their own band. They did all of these other things that they weren't able to do before. And once they started to branch out on their own Then it became that they— everything you've heard said, they weren't grateful, they weren't— and that's just not— it's so not the case. I am the— as their mother, these are children who were— since he relinquished that to me, that they were the way they are because their mama raised them, I take full responsibility for that, and I'm so proud of them.
So he wasn't in the picture?
He wasn't in the picture. And they did— everyone that feels they're entitled, and they, they did not have a house full of nannies. That was it. They had aunties, they had uncles. When I had to go do what I did, when I started to go overseas, they spent the weekends with their aunt and uncle and their cousins. We were a community and a tribe. They were not, you know, the kids that were the traditional celebrity kids whose they learned to do their chores. They got allowance, you know what I mean? They were getting—
they were normal.
They were normal kids within our household.
Did you whoop their ass too when they got out of line? You should have.
Let me tell you something.
Let me say, look, that's my oldest.
Ask my young— if I pulled over on the side of the road one day because he smacked his lips.
So this is, you know, smack them one more time. No, he didn't get him.
He smacked him once and we pulled over on the way. So they, they grew up in a home that was a traditional home for us. That's what I knew. That's what they were raised in. Their grandmother, when Brian's mom, when she came to live with us, she continued that grace with them. They had that grandmama, that big mama in the house. I had mine. So when I hear that they were privileged children, you know, I kept them away from that because growing up I'd seen what the industry can do. And I don't think the—
we've seen, we've seen the Smiths' kids.
It's just, I just, I wanted them to be fine.
We've seen them, children.
Everybody does their own—
was having sleepovers with grown men at 14. We've seen them kids, we've seen what he can do, child.
Mike, they weren't allowed to sleep over with anybody if it wasn't family. So that— it's just so— and that's why I applaud my sons. I just give them so— not just because I'm their mama Right. It's because they have fallen back. They're living their adult lives, and unless people follow them or they see what they're doing or they experience their lives as they're going through that— my sons have chosen, like you said earlier, we have been away even when— even as the celebrity wife I didn't attend a lot of things. I didn't do a lot of things. I was uncomfortable in those situations. I didn't know who was going to be there. I knew that it was public knowledge that there were mistresses and other people, so I said, I know me, and I'm— back then— and I know how I can buck a little bit, so Let me just stay at the house before I ruin the whole Grammys, right? And I enjoyed being a mom, and I enjoyed my fam, my sons, and it kept me peaceful. And it kept— aside from times when I was essentially asked not to come to certain things, I would choose to not go. Because for you— because for a lot, a length of time, it— a lot of folks didn't even know that he was married. So I took that position because it made more sense for him as an entertainer at this— we talking in the '90s, late '90s, you know.
So they would facilitate everything to make him look single, to make him appear like, you know, he's open and any woman can get a chance with him, right?
So that was the norm. I love it now because everybody gets to be married and show their little bellies and, you know, be happy and show that unity. But back then it wasn't that way.
It was like whatever the record label said was best for your brand, this is how we put you out.
Okay.
And so did you ever regret— because I know you said you took the back seat, stayed home, became the wife, you put your kids first, you let Brian go off and do him. Um, did you ever regret not pursuing you?
Never, because I was so proud of him. And so supportive of him. I knew that he had it, you know what I mean? And I just, I was happy being a mom. I enjoyed taking care of my home and my husband and my family. And, you know, the, you know, he would often tell me that he's not able to do what he does without knowing that home was secure. And I That meant a lot. That makes a difference to me coming from the type of family that I came from. My mom— and I saw a mom that my dad, who was a minister, but he was also an entrepreneur, so he was home, but my mom was, you know, top tier in EEOC. And she— I saw her putting her suits on in the morning and her heels. I'm a '70s baby, so I saw that woman who also then came home and put her shorts on and her dashiki and let the fro out and made my dad's plate and took care of us. And I was there with my grandmother, so I was like, okay, this is my boo, you know, go do it, babe, let them see what you got. So I— but the other side of that coin was I, I believed him when he said, let me lay this foundation and then I'm going to support you. And a lot of people have heard me say that. They're like, oh, she did it because she thought— no, I was already doing it. I was already doing every step and making every move to be that artist that I ended up being anyway, because God has his timing. So, so that allowed me to raise my babies and still be there and still be supportive. But I never regretted it. And honestly, I can tell you, I never was at home like, I'm home, you know, doing— no, I just— the how proud I was of him when I was, because I knew the strength it took for him to do that, because he was very insecure, very shy dude, didn't really feel even physically and aesthetically, that he was someone—
I could pick, I could pick that up just by the way he acting out here. Because a secure man wouldn't come out here and, no, and, and dog his children the way that he's been doing and trying to put up other kids. I can see the insecurities there because the secure man, like I said, wouldn't— why would I need to do that? Those are my kids.
And he sees two very secure, very talented beautiful men that are raising—
they are beautiful, I gotta tell you. Y'all, man, y'all got some good men looking, man, over there.
They're beautiful men. You know, he sees my oldest going through the ups and downs and the trials of raising kids with— because my oldest has his two moms. I love these beautiful two women because they're like sisters. They can have their differences with my son if they want to, but they they are working through it. They see my youngest, Nico, who's an amazing husband, and so they're showing him— they're mirroring things that he has true insecurities about and things that I'm sure he feels— I can't speak for him— but things that he feels that they are mastering that he hasn't been able to do.
So you feel that his actions to him and projecting onto his kids are, um, I guess basically things that like, oh, I'm gonna do it right this time. Like, I'ma publicly love them so I can hurt you since you're not fucking with me the way that I want you to, or the way that a son should be. So he feels like if they're not the sons that he feels that they should be, he's going to claim others. You know, them kids don't look nothing like that man. They don't even look right together. You— I'm just being honest. It's like, Brian, you trying too hard.
It's something—
the Black woman ain't mad because you don't went outside your race. Because here's the thing, here's the thing, had you would have had what you wanted in a Black woman, you wouldn't have went outside to another race because they wouldn't let you get away with that.
Mm-hmm.
There's—
did they—
I think if you would rather be here, and that's why you keep putting it in people's faces— look, look, look, look, look— because you're trying to send a message like, oh, I would be over there, but you're not wanted over there. So you're telling me it's like, we're good. So I, I see it all over him.
It's— I think, I think it's a huge bigger part, um, because like I said, everybody can have what they— what their kind is, or what their look is, or what— whatever it is. But I think there is a community within the Black community where we hold you accountable. You have to be accountable because my foundation is the same as his mother's. What we choose as respect, what we require in the way you speak to us, what we require in the way you take care of your children. That is a fundamental African-American, also Black and brown thing. It's easier to step away from that if you completely remove yourself from that situation. That means you don't have to— you don't have to be accountable to any auntie or, or mama or sister. Um, a Black woman that you're in love with that loves you really hard and deep, but we're still gonna be like, now, babe, you already know that right there is not what's gonna work. I'm gonna help you work through that, but we're not gonna do that again. It's— I think that's the difference that I can personally— I can only talk about personally with me. Because I held him accountable for things, and he— I resonated the same presence that the women who raised him did. And I think at this point that's uncomfortable for him because it challenges who he is right now. I would love for him to walk in my door. He could sit right here with me, but I know that that would create a lot of attention for him because he'd have to face a lot of things that are in him that haven't been addressed. So this makes it easier.
Did he have a father coming up?
He did, he did.
Yep.
Wow.
Was his father active?
Um, he, he was, he was. And I'm— everybody, you know, I can't speak for Grandpa, but he, he was there in the way he was there. That's the best way I can put it, you know, the way he knew to be there.
So now I, I guess I have a better picture because it's like, you know, why would he, you know, denounce his sons and try to rename the kids that he has with his new wife, right? The names that, you know, his name, and trying to basically erase his history, because I thought maybe he was just being indoctrinated by the church. I was like, is the Mormon Church doing— because he's a part of the Mormon Church, right? I was like, is they doing that? They telling him?
No, we actually— we were all raised as a part of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Now here's the funny part, because I was born and I was cracking up because one time you were trying to figure out what is going on.
Is this— and I can tell you that, because I said that in the video, I was like, is this— is he indoctrinated by the church? Is this what this new church— because he keeps talking about it.
No, this—
I need to go see what's going on down there, like for real.
These are not the fundamental, you know, beliefs that we have at all. So I mean I don't know.
It's—
it has nothing to do with that. I think it's a personal something that has to be—
that woman that he's with doesn't hold him accountable, clearly, because a real woman— and let— I'm finna put this out here, this ain't got nothing to do with you, Miss Julie McKnight, but I'ma say it, okay? A real woman and a real mother would not allow anybody to disown their kids because the same thing he is doing to you, he could easily do to them. And I know her children that she is now giving to Brian McKnight, those kids were done the same way because I heard they father don't fuck with them. That's what I heard. So his wife that he's parading, why don't you ask her or sit down with her ex, uh, uh, husband and ask why he don't fuck with them, Cheryl? And you and y'all meet together on the same reasons of why y'all not fucking with y'all children. So for him to be like, oh, these are my kids now, but you ain't got out here to say, oh, they got a new daddy, here's your new dad. You ain't did that. You could have. You could have been like, hey, right? And you could have really just— but for him to even play and parlay in that, it's like, I see exactly through that. And that's why I don't have respect for that woman who calls herself a doctor. To even allow him to get on the internet to play like that with y'all, especially at his, his, his fine age. I see if he was in his 30s.
No, he's grown up. Yeah, hey, what, late 50s? What am I, 54? Yeah, 56.
Come on, man, you're too old for that. You're too old for that. And like I said, I, I, I'm a sole believer in You know, a man, yes, laying the foundation, right? But it is a woman who kind of creates the, the, the energy. Yes. And the synchrony of the house.
Yep.
And I don't know what's going on over there in that Pan-Asian house, okay? I don't know, right? But I can tell there's no synchrony because why would you even allow him to get outside and play like that? And for those kids to even parlay in it, it's like, how do you feel? Because your daddy don't mess with you because of your mama. So there was something wrong with your mama too. So which means he is inadvertently choosing the same type of woman every time. The difference between this one, and I think honestly she likes the lifestyle.
Well, it's, it's very comfortable, you know, and she likes the lifestyle. And if you're— if, if, if that— see, I— the lifestyle didn't make a difference to me. You know, if that's what you're about, then you're good. Then you will tolerate a whole lot of stuff. The lifestyle meant nothing to me. Having my husband, raising my children— if we have that lifestyle, that's a— that's sprinkles on our cupcake. But the foundation needed to be what it needed to be when we stepped out as a Black family into the world. Um, they needed to see that. We weren't seeing that as much. Now, a lot of times the lifestyle is cool for folk. I'd be lying if I didn't say I loved my infinity pool, you know what I mean? I'd be lying if I said I, you know, didn't love my fabulous kitchen and going to the garage and choosing whatever car I wanted to drive. But at the end of the day, I'm cool. In the middle of that, I went to work at TJ Maxx, you know what I mean? Because I'm like, I need life.
You was working at TJ Maxx while you was married to Brian McDyke?
I did, because I felt like I was in a—
girl, hold on, what?
It was, it was short-lived, but I had to get out there.
How did that work out for you? Did people eventually find out whose wife you were?
No. And that's the beauty of it, because I kept myself so out of the— until the Ebony magazine. No, I could— nobody knew. So I was— I was—
when the Ebony magazine hit, everybody was like, wait a minute.
They would— or either they thought No, maybe that's not it. I was just so under the radar, which was perfect for me because it allowed me to be in circles with other celebrity wives, but I wasn't really present with them. And then I could just be at home in my flip-flops and my jeans and my tank top and chilling in my baseball cap, teaching my kids and, and writing or whatever. But I had to get You know, I came from a family of women that did things, you know what I mean? And my passion was my music, my writing. And when I wasn't able to do that, I had to be functional.
I tell people you have to do—
I wasn't comfortable with just, let me go ask him for money. I dig it if that's your thing, baby girl, do it. But for me, I needed to feel like this is my life. This is what I'm accomplishing. This is what I'm doing. And so, yeah, TJ Maxx was it. And I'm going to tell you, when I would pull that stuff from them racks and hide it—
so you can get it later— layaway— so you could get it later— I could get it later.
And I loved it. But then after a while he was like, uh, no, that's not what we gonna do. But I had to—
I bet you had fun. You was out there conversating with people because it was my money.
I was allotted a certain amount, but by the time the household was taken up, I wanted mine. You know what I mean? This is what I worked for, what I did. Yeah, so eventually, you know, thanks to, um, family that was there in Los Angeles— Wanda Vaughn of The Emotions and Wayne, her husband— they started to do, um, like an open mic night, to say. And they were like, you're— and I'm in my 20s, I was young, you know. They were coming to sing, girl, we're not doing this no more. So I started, I went and started to sing background with them and That was like, oh, oh, I am on stage, you know. And my babies would be asleep in the back in the dressing room. It was good. But that kind of—
I tell people that housewife stuff ain't all it's cracked up to be. No, it's not. And if you are a functional woman and you come from a functional family, you are going to want to function. It's people that You got to be a certain type of person that just want to lay around all day and not—
I can't do it.
Do nothing and revolve your life around other people's, and then when they're gone, who, who are you?
Who are you? What do you have, right?
Yeah, because nothing lasts forever. Nothing.
Well, no, and I had to learn that when, when the boys and I came home from a vacation and We didn't even realize he had gotten us a new apartment. I was apparently getting moved out. I had no idea.
Wait a minute, hold up. He put you out of your house?
We were asked to move after we returned from a vacation, and that's in the book too.
Oh, Brian McKnight. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. We're gonna get this book. Wait a minute. You went on vacation with his kids?
Yes, we spent the summer every year in North Carolina with my family, and we would stay on, okay, 2 and a half months.
And so he wasn't really never home at this house that you kept for, right? He was always probably traveling.
He was deep in the road then, yeah. But we would still go spend it down south.
But he didn't know where the lawn— he didn't know where the linen was, where certain things was in that house, because he never lived there, correct?
Correct.
Okay, so I'm just, you know, I'm doing what lawyers would do just to make sure, just to really paint a picture that he did not live or keep this home. He paid for this home. Yeah, but he did not— he was not there in that home. And when you did your yearly, I'm going to the summer to spend, because you on the road doing what you want to do, you come back and he says, I want to move you out of the house you've been keeping for years into an apartment with y'all two kids.
Yes, he, he found a great little townhouse for us not far from where he was, and we moved into there maybe a few days after we got back from North Carolina.
Did you see this coming?
Absolutely not. Absolutely not.
I thought— sorry, son of a bitch.
Oh, that's sorry ass.
He didn't even have an— he didn't even— he wasn't even man enough to face you.
No, he wasn't in town.
That's little dick energy. He wasn't man enough to sit down and have a conversation with you about things not going right, and he wasn't even in the house to help them go right. Because in order to be a functional husband and a functional family, you have to be around. But instead of him talking to you, he moved y'all out of the house like y'all were fucking tenants.
Thankfully, his, um, there were people there to help. My family was there, his brother was there, his friend for years was there. They helped us, and we went on over to— but it was, let me tell you, Tasha, it was at— in retrospect, it was the biggest blessing for me because I moved to my townhouse and not even— no, I moved to my— it was my apartment, me and my boys and my two dogs. And I just felt like it—
why? Because you felt free.
I felt free, and I felt in a roundabout way, the way the universe will do to you, if he was the conduit to step me out of the negativity I was living in. I was having headaches, my hair was falling out, I had lost like 30, 40 pounds. I wasn't eating, I was drinking, drinking. I was just making it through my day. And the minute I walked into that apartment, uh, Tasha, it was like I was sad and mad. Mad came later. But I had my family and I had this tribe of men around me, you know. And they were like essentially picking me up and dropping me in another place. And then I had people that, you know, sisters of mine and cousins of mine, and we— that home just turned into a cocoon for me. So whether he knew it or not, that was amazing for me.
What happened though? Like, what, y'all never— was it because— what was the breakdown?
I never saw a breakdown. There were always relationships that were intertwined in my marriage.
And, oh, so with other women that he would step out with?
Yes. And I knew that— I knew when those things were happening because I could see the shift. So this time it was more where, okay, maybe he really means that this is not where I want to be. And I was good— I'm fine with that. Let you— let a person know. And but it, it was just so out of the blue that I didn't have time to prepare myself or my children mentally, physically, emotionally, nothing. So it was a total break, but we got it together though.
So did he pay for the apartment that you went to?
He did, he did pay the rent there. I did everything else.
I would not accept it. I wouldn't have, I wouldn't have accepted it because it's still somehow, somehow he controls you.
It was a very, very, very— now looking back, because then I was what, 25? My youngest was 2, so I was— yeah, I was 24. So it— I now, late years later, I could see that this was control. I'ma sit you over here until I'm ready to deal with you again. You're fine, take this, you know, Range Rover with you, and I'm gonna pay this rent in this house. You have to figure out the other way you're gonna do bills and food and this and that. And I wasn't working, none of that was what I was doing. So then it did become when whatever I had started to decrease, I'm thinking, I, I gotta live here, man, you know, I gotta raise these kids and I gotta figure out what I'm gonna do now. It was just a lesson I try to teach my young girls. In whatever capacity you're in, always, always be able to be okay.
On your own. Have your own.
Have your own. And I knew that I had the talent to have been extremely okay on my own, but I was totally trusting raising these kids. My life was comfortable with that underlying drama and mess that was always going on. It still didn't matter. It was okay because I'm rolling. I, you know, we're gonna make this work. We love each other. The industry isn't where we come from because it wasn't where he came from, nor I. So we've, you know, but when I hit that apartment, man, I was like, oh, I know how to do this because my mother knew.
Did you, did you bring other, did you bring other men in the apartment he was paying for? Please tell me you did.
Well, I'll tell you because I was there.
Please tell me you got the man with the biggest dick, maybe his friend.
I, I did date, but I dated the one and he was amazing. Absolutely, because I went back to school. I got myself together. And went back to school and met him there. Beautiful, beautiful light-eyed younger dude, and he was amazing. He, he healed me through difficult times. So yes, even I appreciate him so much to this day.

But Auntie Cheryl, I didn't run. I escaped. You can't escape family. I bet that thing has a few stories. More than you know. But she the only family I got, all right? Now I know that's not true.
Your mother told me stories about you and your sisters. I think she would want them there. I think They would want to be here.
Pretty sure she ain't tell you everything. Apparently, look, the hospice nurse said that she might not make it through the night. Mama ain't did nothing but love them. And I just don't understand how you go years without speaking to your own mom. But for her to know what was going on all those years and not do nothing about it, it's unforgivable.
So no, I don't have no intentions of holding your hand.
Okay?
I'm not here to do that. I want you to tell me where my son is. Man, you know where your son at.
I go see a counselor every week to make sure I'm on the up and up, all right? And he thought it'd be a good idea to write my thoughts down and shit. But we never talk about it.
You shut down, and Kiara, you run from it.
So I'm the one that's left to take it. The one thing that I've learned from all this This is— at the end of the day, all we have is each other. Watch this full program and other exclusive content on www.tashaklive.com.
He's still my pop.
I love that. Yep, I love that. Not you calling him Papa.
Oh, he was Poppy back then, man.
I'm telling you, I would have been like, put the bed right there in the front door. Yeah, Brian, this my house. Okay, Poppy, what you doing? We gotta come break in this apartment that my baby daddy paying for.
But he was—
you know how many hoes I done dealt with over the years? You got to come and really lay down your energy in this house.
Clearly, anything in here, just, you know. But he was amazing. The biggest blessing with him was the effect he had on my son. Because they didn't have that person in the house. They had my— their uncles and their— but he came in and he was just so present with them.
And so Brian knew that, that man was put, you know, stepping in where he lacked.
Yeah, because he, he was there. He didn't live with me, but he was, he was there. And he loved my boys. And they, they were, like I said, Wow, 2 and almost turning 4. They were little, so they, they wanted that, that father figure. They wanted, you know, and they— and even more than that, I think because they were— like I said, I was there for almost 3 years, they were together almost 5. But what my son saw was a different me. They didn't see me sleeping all day. They didn't see me looking tired and on eggshells around the house and making sure they saw me happy and dancing around the house. And yeah, it was good.
That dick was good.
I'll tell you, he was a good guy. They saw their mom very peaceful and happy.
That's what I'm talking about.
So that was a— it was a good transition for them.
They said, Brian, good night. Good. Never, never. And I always say Asian women anyway, you know, when they get a Black man, they'd be real happy because I was with an Asian guy one Really? And I didn't know he was inside. See, if I were them, I would— I would— everybody wants a Black man. I get that. So I get why she—
oh, they're amazing men, the ones who know they are, the ones that know.
Yeah.
And the ones that know that everybody don't get to have them. That's— if they all knew that everybody doesn't get to have you, brother. They ever—
but there's some that want everybody to have them, and then it devalues them.
Yes.
And then we get men like him, Brian. And then, because I'm gonna be honest with you, I'm gonna be honest with you, like, the music is in— I'll never forget this because he was trying to justify, um, why his concerts were getting canceled. And it's like, oh, well, I still have fans overseas. And it's like, that's where you gonna go, right?
And it's sad.
That's where you gonna go, all because you couldn't control your emotions. You, you lacked being a father to them when they were younger, and then when they do come in your life, it's like now you're trying to— it sounds like to me he was trying to do what he should have did when they were 2 or 4, and they're not 2 and 4 no more. These are grown men, and I know we're not going to be here to, to go to work with you, Daddy. We got, we got families of our own, right?
And that's true.
Yeah, but what about the daughter? Because y'all got a daughter. Well, you know, the other mom got a daughter and you call her your daughter. Like I said, that the grace that you have, I wish that I have. And I'm sure a lot of people, women that's gonna be watching this, is like, if I could, I would.
You right now, you can do it.
Listen, what about the daughter? Like, how does she even get affected by this?
She was hurt because every little girl wants their daddy. But I, I can tell you that this is another time I can't speak the praise.
I know, I know. But I was just like, what did that baby girl do? Because she was underage when he got out here.
She did nothing. I can say that she did nothing. And I'm so glad that she had— I can only imagine if she didn't have two older brothers who were present. That's why my big goal is making sure that mamas that come from multiple mommy families that may have one dude that's the dad— these children need each other. These blended families need to be together. And mommies, we gotta do this together. Because imagine if I was like, oh no, I'm not— even though her mom was not, um, her pregnancy wasn't a result of anything during our marriage. She was still a product of this person. So that's their daughter. But imagine if I'd have said, nah, I ain't trying to deal with nobody else that ain't his, you know, I— that ain't my daughter, right? You can't do— you cannot do it. So them being that close, my older son BJ my— and the— my baby boy, they have been the male figure that she goes to. And she's in her 20s, that's my pumpkin. And even their baby sister who's younger now, she's got her big sister to do that with. So they are really their own little community, and it's, um, there's— these two are amazing women. And their mamas are— I love that.
So she was just catching strays pretty much. She didn't even do nothing. She was just catching straight.
She didn't do a thing.
And poor baby was in high school when he started getting out here. And I'm like, how's this baby going to school? If I was that baby mama, I would have sued him, right? Because you— that baby was underage and you getting out here acting like a child.
Yeah. And she, she went through what she went through, but she had a tribe, so She is okay. And I think that is a nail in the coffin as well, because none of us are broken. None of us are broken.
And you ain't gonna be broke either, because this book— tell us about this book that you done wrote. Yeah, Aaron, his ass the fuck out. Go ahead, look. What's the name of it? Mama Bear.
Mama Bear Beautifully Blended. And it really is finding a way and giving people tools to blend their families.
And I love it.
It's for my Papa Bears too, because I gotta tell you, my son, because he, he's got his two moms with, you know, the three kids, and I don't in any way try to say, oh, we understand, we've got this, come listen. No, we're learning this day to day ourselves. We're, you know, maneuvering how to make this family work with multiple moms and keeping the kids together. And, you know, you can have— one mama can have an issue with my son and the other may not, but you two need to be able to talk to each other. Let these women come talk and be like, sis, I got you, whatever we go— he's not in it. The kids are the foundation. And it's just— I'm—
and you're the major— and you're the matriarch of this family. So I love that. I could see it all over you. And I love it. Yes, I love it.
I'm so proud of my tribe. I just am. And I mean, I— the growing that we do, the learning we're doing together. I know that all of us, from my— from me, my kids down, we went through the experiences we went through, as grimy as they were at times, as low as I was at times. My son's going through, my daughter, my baby girl going through hers. We're here for this, you know. We— I want sisters to come and say, 'I want to kill her. How am I gonna handle this?' I'll be like, 'Yo, I got you. I, I understand that.' I want brothers to be able to say, 'I need help getting this mama to talk to this mom,' because my second marriage— we're divorced now— he came to me with 8 babies. And 4 baby moms, and we made that work, and we made it work. Oh, I was— I don't know how many different—
I want to make you— I want to ask you, because I wouldn't even date somebody with one. I know, I just was like, maybe now if I were in a dating market, I would consider it, but probably I wouldn't either. I'll be like I got my two. We don't need no more. You don't need— I'll be asking, dude, you want kids? Okay, no, I don't want to talk to you. No, I don't want to talk to you. No, that, that would be me personally. How— what was it about that man? Because obviously he was up front with all the babies. Did he tell you from the jump?
He did.
And that makes a difference. He let you choose.
It was me. Because a bunch of kids weren't a big deal to me. I'm like, bring me all the babies, you know. I was fine with that. And we— but I, I know now, I know now that everyone who has been in place has been in place for this moment because I needed— I was fine with my other, my love babies' moms, and then I come in a situation where these sisters was like, no. Don't have my kids around this chick, you know. And then I came into that, and I was never that. I was like, oh my God. So they taught me, all right, let me sit back and feel what these sisters are saying. I don't know you, and you want my kids over there? I know this guy. So what? Y'all are married now. He didn't marry us. So there's some animosity that came from that. And now all of a sudden, here's this you know, woman coming in and she just wants all our babies on the weekend with her. And I genuinely did. These are siblings, these are moms. Whether y'all get together or not, I wanted our home to be the safe place for this father to be a father because I— so I'm firmly believe that we have to let daddies be daddies. I don't care if you don't like this joker no more. I don't care if he got 40 new women. The kids are here. You dug them at some point. So, so did she. So does she. So does she. These babies have—
I mean, 8 kids, he must have had some really good dick. Yeah, he's— for you to say I do I do, but then I didn't.
So, you know, but we still have the children that keep—
he had no more while he was with you, did he? No, no. Oh no, no, no, no, no, no. I know I would have took him first appointment down to the vasectomy office. This was in order for me to marry you, this is what you got to do. No, he was just— he was who was needed at the time, and it looked like he provided a lot of needs around the community.
He was a good one too.
He was a healing experience as well. I bet he did heal that pussy. 8 kids, you can't tell me that man ain't got good D. You cannot tell me. I'm sorry, Miss McKnight, I know that you, you know, I'm a singer, you know, and I'm just sorry, I just got to, you know, I got to keep it 100. Like, that would be the only thing if he's, he's able to make me forget about all of those children.
I know, I, I was good with all the babies and the moms too. So, you know, Jesus. And, and we're still good too. So, and that's okay.
I love it. So the book is called Mama Bear. Where can they buy it? Is it on Amazon?
It is on Amazon. Mama Bear Beautifully Blended.
Okay, beautifully blended.
And at some point we'll just have it distributed everywhere. We just got it because my, my fan base is overseas, so okay, over there now. And that's a good, good, good, good thing. So we just want to help mamas and daddies and kids, and we want everybody to be okay.
Okay, so bottom line Uh, as we've already figured out, Brian McKnight pretty much ain't shit. He's what they call a dusty out here. He's one of these red pillars, little dick energy.
And we're gonna pray for him. We're gonna continue to pray that he finds—
we will. We shall pray. We shall pray that we don't fuck his ass up when we see him messing with them innocent kids.
That's because he—
that's because all because he got a problem with the mamas. Like, come on now, stop.
No, it can't be that. It cannot be that. And that, that's why I have to say to you, I gotta say to you that I, I do appreciate— I told my sister one time when I was watching you, I was like, if she ain't my spirit animal, she is saying everything. And I think I even told you that because I was like, it's just I don't care how the message goes out.
Yes.
But I felt just— and my sons and my daughters and just our experience, we felt supported. We didn't feel judged. I just— and I just was like, the stuff that was in here, you know, boiling, I was like, yeah, it's like, sell your music.
That's all we That's all we knew Brian McKnight for. We didn't know him to have a family, to have kids. I'm sure we thought about it, but we didn't care. And if he's watching this interview, which I know he will because he's, he's, you know, that's why he throwing shots now at the kids because he watches everything, right?
Exactly.
But we as fans were true fans of his music.
When y'all were hurt by what he— it actually looked hurt.
Because the music did not match the character of the man, right, that was acting very, very childish, right? Childish and insecure.
It was a betrayal on the internet.
Yeah, we felt betrayed. And so like, why you say, yeah, I got fans overseas, but don't forget, if those— let's just say those videos happen to go super viral outside of the United States, do you think that those mothers over there who've had toxic baby fathers or marriages would support you? Because it's His audience is female, which is crazy. Yes, it's female, and his audience is our age. So it's like, brother, what is you doing? Like, we, we good. We know that people have family problems. We get that, Brian. We know people got family problems. We know everybody sometimes fathers don't get along with kids and all that stuff. But the mere fact is you're the man.
Yeah, you're—
and the way the household is gonna go is based off of your decisions.
Right.
Not the children, not the women. Your decisions. You're the leader, you're the foundation. So if that foundation is broken, that ain't got shit to do with us. Why are you including us in the group chat?
Absolutely. That's the key.
We just want to hear you sing that same song over and over and over and over again.
That's it. That's it. And we, we didn't want anything included in the group chats either, and that's why it's At one point I came home because I was away working and I said, what is going on? Because I don't hear about it when I'm away. And when I got home, everything was just going crazy. I'm looking at my son.
I'm gonna start catching— I'm gonna start catching some of that UK audience. We got a big UK fan base.
Go get them!
I'm about to go. I'm going up over there and I'm gonna take all Brian Midnight business with me too.
So let me tell tell you, it's— we are there.
And that is—
hi UK! That, that's, um, man, they, they just— between there and Spain and South Africa, Italy, everywhere. That was a blessing for me too because I was able to go there and work. And when I would do festivals and do my stuff, they had no idea who I was, so I could be my own person. And then when they kind of find out, they're like, wait a minute, What? I'm like, yeah, but they don't have nothing to do with this.
They ain't got nothing to do with me. He was true. If he was truly happy in that house that he's in now with his new wife— and like I said, yeah, I'm taking shots at her race because the thing is, like, she pillow talks with this man that's her husband, and the way he's out here acting a pure ass. And you have a father, you have a husband, an ex-husband, I was told. That is no longer in your children's life, how do you allow another man to lay and come up in you and do that to his own kids knowing how your kids felt from that? So it must be the lifestyle. I don't care, they can say she's a doctor. Everybody got a PhD out here, so, oh, you can get a PhD from a church, who gives a damn, right? To try to make you feel like you somebody or you his equal. No. This is very, very beneath y'all. And if the house was so happy, why is he online all of a sudden throwing shots at the kids? Yeah, I don't— it was very distasteful. And I really hope— and honestly, it has kind of turned me as a fan. Yeah, because I'm just like, I can't, I can't receive the music anymore. Music is energy, it's a vibration.
Absolutely.
And the person that is coming from, their character has to be clean. Even if we don't know what all of what's going on, that's your private life. But the moment you allow your private life to enter into what you have been called by God to do.
Yes. Yeah.
Now we got a problem, Brian. That's when we say it's little dick energy. It's insecurities. It's you not having a grip on your household. So everything that you have said, all the memories that you've created for us are now tarnished. That's why I hate reality stars doing music.
Right.
Yeah, you know, Beyoncé keeps selling because of the mystery that's going on.
I mean, that's the key. And you can't— your life needs to be your life over here. And there's— there has to be a level of respect for the people that have been supportive of you all this time. When you put that, like you said, that's a God-given talent. Gift given to everyone else. So now everyone was invited. I didn't want to be invited into, you know, I—
that's—
my sons didn't want to be invited into foolishness. But at some point there has to come where, no, you can't— you're not gonna get to keep— you can't keep doing that. And it's time to just at this point say And let somebody heal from things. And the way we are accepting as a community and this and that, there could have been a time where even, you know what, y'all, I ran my mouth too much. My family and I are trying to work this thing through. We're doing this and that, which we are receptive to, absolutely are, because Everything should be about— if people could see that we were able to go through all of this and heal, can you imagine? Can you imagine what that would do for other families and for our community? But it ain't the case.
I have one question to ask you before we end this and we go purchase this book, Mama Bear, on Amazon by Julie McKnight. I cannot wait to read it. How did you feel when he said the children that y'all made together were made in sin and y'all were married?
And you know what, it initially— I had started— he had said so much shit that initially I brushed it. When I talked to my children and the way it affected my sons, the way it affected my daughters, because that encompassed them. It wasn't just me. His two girls, they were like out of sin. And then to follow that up with that they are the way they are in a derogatory way because of they were raised by their mothers. And my, my kids were like, that got me because I was there. I know the case. You, you were there, you know, everybody was doing what we doing together and the man was the one making the decisions for the household.
So if anybody brought that into the house, it was him. And that is a sin that you have to ask for forgiveness for, but you don't get to erase that.
No, you don't. And, and my sons, when I tell you the, the blessing of them, the blessing— that's when I realized that I was really dealing in a more diabolical situation. I was dealing in a situation that I had to really— that's that Geechee in my grandmama where I had to pull a whole lot more sage out and start putting more stuff around and brooms by doors, because I realized that what was trying to come into the safety and the sanctity of my family was even past him. I honestly don't believe that he is even aware of the evil that's coming through him, and it wasn't going to touch me and my family. So I said, oh, for you to take it there and the use of this much religion and the use of this much God and the No, that's deflecting. So the protection is around me and mine. And now it has to be, you got to deal with your own. So I'm thankful that my sons, my two love daughters, have been raised in something this strong. Because it hurt them. It pissed them off. Collectively, they're mad because he said it about each other, as opposed to— how it made them feel internally. For me, I'm glad that they had the presence of mind to know that no, we're not. We're wonderful. We are amazing and talented and beautiful. And the jealousy that comes from the fact that we don't even need you is the win for me.
That's what it is. He wants that. That's why he got that one up over there doing his nails.
And she— it don't even make a difference because we're okay.
All the time. Go get, go get the back massages and the nail cutters and, you know, the manicures and the pedicures.
Go get them for free.
That's all that part, because she wouldn't even catch strays if she didn't— if she did not say hey and stand with the women. Baby, I love you, but what we not gonna do is this. No, no, because those kids that he done now changed to their last name, he didn't— where them children come from? Where they made us— they was made a sin too then.
Yeah. And they'll, they'll have to come to their own terms with it. And it happens. It always turns around. And I hope that when they do, that they have their own tribe to be okay with, the same as my kids did, because they got it.
So don't Bring that over here. Talking about always siblings.
No, no.
Oh, no, no, no.
We can be gracious without always being accepting because we don't let. We do not invite the vampire in the front door. Not happening. No.
Ms. Julian McKnight, thank you so much. It was such an honor. I hope that we're gonna have you on this. I just hope we're gonna have you again on the show.
You will, you will. I appreciate you so much.
Anytime. And tell them boys I appreciate them representing true masculinity.
Yeah.
In a society where it's, it's limited, especially in America.
Yeah.
And so, because they could have got out here really, really acting emotional and popping, but they did not. No, they, they stood and acted like Black men to say, let that man be up over there fussing like a woman. Yeah, we're gonna hold it down.
That's it. So they got lives to live, they got children to raise and wives to take care of, and, you know, careers that are fabulous.
So everything that they daddy did not do. So I appreciate that, and thank you for doing it. I think you're good on your fast.
You got it.
What'd you say?
I said do good on your fast. You got it.
I got 2 more days.
You can do it.
2 more days. I'm like, oh my God, we all— we all going through it. 2 more days. My skin is glowing though, I'm feeling it.
I see.
So good. Yeah, like I'm just like, I feel good. The waist is snatched.
I'm like, I'mma do it. I'mma do it.
You should. You look great.
Next Monday we'll do it.
