Lavern Whitt Spills The Wine on Her Connections With Jada Smith, Whitney Houston, and Bilaal | SOON!
In this interview, veteran Hollywood behind‑the‑scenes professional Lavern (Laverne) Witt reflects on nearly three decades of work on film sets and music tours. She recounts a chaotic set involving Will Smith, LisaRaye, Dewayne Martin, and Bilal, noting Bilal’s sudden disappearance after a particular day. Witt shares a vivid anecdote about Jada Pinkett’s early days, describing how Jada once rushed out of a bathroom claiming Tupac was taking a bath, highlighting the close‑knit, sometimes surreal nature of their circle. The conversation shifts to a tour with Whitney Houston, where Witt describes the 1980s environment of sex, rock‑and‑roll, and drug use, including Whitney’s on‑stage drug consumption and the need for a colleague named Robin to intervene. Throughout, Witt paints a picture of the gritty, unglamorous side of Hollywood and music touring, emphasizing personal relationships, unexpected incidents, and the culture of excess that defined that era.
