This is a YouTube video titled "Before you quit your job: Should you be an employee or entrepreneur? #shorts" containing a monologue or Q&A session recorded on November 12, 2022. The speaker, presumably Terry Rice, shares personal advice about choosing between continuing entrepreneurship or accepting a full-time job offer, emphasizing autonomy and alternative consulting options.
Okay, we're doing Q and A with Terry. Here's the next question. I started a business last year. Things are going well, but another company just offered me a full time job. What should I do? I had the same challenge about three years into my business. My old company, Adobe, reached out to me for a full time job and it sounded pretty cool. The money was great, there were stock and all these bonuses and plus, I wouldn't have to worry so much about where my next paycheck was coming from. But I declined. And here's why. I keep a journal and I keep a gratitude list and I always wrote down the three things I'm grateful for that day. And autonomy came up all the time. So if I took this job at Adobe, the autonomy would go away, right? So I would ask yourself, you know, what do you have to gain or lose by taking a full time job? And you can kind of go in your direction from there, but also, can you consult this company? Do you have to actually work full time or can you be a consultant or a contractor? So maybe you're not willing to give up everything with your business, but you can make some money from them as a client. So those are my suggestions. Again, think about what you have to gain or lose. And also maybe you don't have to go all in. Maybe you can be a consultant or a contractor instead and continue running your own business.
