A creator faced 100 rejections from TV executives before turning to YouTube. They pitched their show repeatedly, got turned down, and decided to build their career independently instead of waiting for permission.
And also before the success happened, I got how many no's? Probably like a hundred NO's from different TV executives and brands that I would pitch on a daily basis who all said to me, young travel will never sell. There's no market here. No one is going to spend money advertising a channel that promotes young people traveling. And so even with the nose, I remember I was on the. The. I was in the auditorium of college graduation wearing my cap and gown, and I was about to be called up and I had just flown to LA with like the last bit of money that I had to pitch a TV show. This network that said that they wanted young, fresh, talented shows. And they were like, wow, you're so impressive. We really love this. We're going to think about it. And then I flew back to New York because it was my graduation. And during the ceremony I get an email that said, you are so lovely and you have a great future ahead of you, but unfortunately we can't invest in the show. I cried one tear, Terri, and I'm like, enough. I'm going to stop asking people for permission to do what I want to do. And that's when the career on YouTube was full blown.
