This is a YouTube video titled "The End of 'the Hustle' #shorts" containing a monologue or talk recorded on June 24, 2022, discussing the drawbacks of constant hustling and emphasizing the importance of recovery and balance for success and fulfillment.
The hustle. Hard economy is fundamentally broken because I don't know anyone who's successful, who's not working hard, but they also know how to balance that out with recovery as well. So if you're always hustling, always doing, first of all, you have no extra bandwidth to take on other opportunities or projects that could be extremely beneficial for your business because you're already at your capacity. And then beyond that, it's not how hard you work, it's how well you recover. And athletes know this very well. So any best in class athlete realizes it's not how hard you play the game, it's how well you recover afterwards. So you're taking an ice bath, you're stretching, you're taking ibuprofen, whatever it is. So if you're just so geared on hustling, always doing something, you don't have time to recover. And beyond that, if you feel like you always have to be doing something, you don't have time to just be and just think and process and learn. So fundamentally, there's challenges with that whole approach. And who wants to live a life that way too, right? You want to be fulfilled, and there's no reason you can't be wildly successful and fulfilled, but you can't do that if you're always thinking you have to be doing something.
