This is a YouTube video titled "The First Step To Getting Sober with Tim Stoddart #shorts" featuring Terry Rice discussing the challenges of addiction and the importance of seeking help and personal responsibility in the recovery process. The content is a monologue or speech rather than a multi-speaker conversation.
One of the insidious things about addiction is you want so badly just to be left alone because you think that you're not hurting anybody, but you're. You really, really are, because no one's on an island. And in the same way that, like, you have to take responsibility for. It's. It's a. It's a tough line to walk, right? Because on one side, I would say, if you want to get sober, you need help. You can't do this whole thing on your own. You really can't. You need help, and you need to stomp your ego, and you need to reach out to somebody and just be like, hey, I need help. But at the same time, that first step, right, that first, like, reaching out your hand, no one can do that for you. Like, you always have to be the one to pick up the phone. You always have to be the one to say, like, you know what? I don't want to feel this way anymore.
