This is a YouTube video titled "What is Mental Training? #shorts" containing a monologue or talk from June 14, 2022, discussing the concept of mental toughness versus mental training, illustrated by a story about a college athlete who became a professional wrestler. The content is a single speaker narrative without multiple participants.
Mental toughness is a term that gets thrown around a lot. And I think we should focus on mental training as opposed to mental toughness, because if you're not mentally tough, the inverse means you're weak. And the best way for me to explain this is to tell a story about this guy I went to college with, this guy named Rick. Biggest guy on campus. He was in magazines. Bodybuilder, huge. Tries out for the football team, gets cut. So he was tough, but he wasn't skilled. He didn't have the footwork to be a defensive lineman. But he kept with it, and he started training. He realized, if I want to be an athlete, I have to work on the skill to do that. And he eventually decided he wanted to become a professional wrestler, and he did. He made it all the way to the WWE and wrestled under the name Ezekiel Jackson, who was an intercontinental champion. So when I think about mental toughness, it's not mental toughness, it's training. And Rick went through the process of training, and that's why he became a WWF champion.
