Jess Ekstrom realized she needed to raise her speaking rates after learning another keynote speaker at the same event was paid significantly more. She questions why this pay gap isn't discussed openly in the speaking industry.

Your keynote ranked the highest among all of our keynotes that weekend. And I was like, great. You know, what's the issue? And she goes, I just wanted to let you know we paid you $8,500 to come speak, and we paid our morning mail keynote $50,000 to come speak. She was like, you need to raise your rates. And at that point, I just was like, holy cow. I didn't even know that, you know, what people were getting paid, how much they were getting paid. And it's not his fault for asking for $50,000, it's just that we're not talking about it.
