This is a YouTube video titled "Why conquering your ego is crucial #shorts" containing a personal story shared by a single speaker about overcoming ego to secure a teaching job at General Assembly, highlighting the importance of humility and asking for help in achieving success.
Is your ego getting in the way of your success? I'll share a quick story to illustrate the point. When I first started my business, I wanted to get a job teaching at a school called General Assembly. Reason being, it was great for networking and people would actually pay to hear me teach them. So it sounded great. So I applied. No response. Apply again? No response. This went on for weeks with no response. So then I tried something different. I dropped my ego at my co working space. There was a message board there where you can ask people certain questions like, hey, who stole my sandwich from the refrigerator? Or can I borrow someone's stapler? And I said this. Does anyone know anyone who works at General Assembly? I would love to be an instructor there, but I have not been able to get through to anyone. Here's a copy of my resume and my references. I would appreciate if anyone can help me spread the word. Anyone. Luckily, someone saw that, forwarded my resume to their connection there. And there you go. That's how I got a job working at General Assembly. And since then I've made over half a million dollars through that partnership. But that never would have happened if my ego got in the way of me asking for help.
