In this testimonial video, Georgie shares how she turned a disappointing interview experience into a job offer by using Tessa Davis's "Ace Your Consultant Interview" ebook and the accompanying Academy. She describes the resources that helped her—example questions, scenario preparations, videos, and the practice of reading the latest board minutes. By attending a board meeting and applying a 3‑point structured answering technique, she was able to respond honestly to a question she hadn't prepared for, impressing the interviewers. Georgie credits the group sessions and Tessa’s personal guidance for boosting her confidence and recommends the course to anyone aiming for a consultant post.

I just want to say, like, honestly, it made a big difference for me. I can't even tell you. Thank you. You've been an absolute pleasure. You worked really hard and you totally deserve it. I'm so happy for you. I had this interview. I recognised it hadn't gone very well, but at the end I was told, you have the job because we know you as a registrar and we know that you're very good, but on the basis of this interview, no, you wouldn't have gotten this job. It put me off just taking that extra step and applying elsewhere when I kind of felt like I was ready to move on to a substantive post. And having been given feedback that I was not so good, I'd gotten your ebook, the Ace Your Consultant Interview ebook, and I'd started reading through that. And then I'd seen that you were doing the Academy, so I signed up straight away. The resources were incredibly helpful. So the example questions, examples that you should prepare for scenarios, and then the videos. There was a lot of tips in there, reading the latest board minutes. Having done that, I was able to look on their website and found out that I was on a day off when they were having their next board meeting. So I was able to attend that, which was really helpful. I can't even begin to describe how different I felt having done it compared to when I first started in terms of just, just preparing. Beyond the first panic, I kind of used the kind of 3-point structured technique, having sat and thought through it and written down kind of my points. So I was able to talk around the question. It didn't directly answer his question. And I was honest and I said, listen, I'm very sorry, I haven't read that paper, but they didn't look too annoyed at the end of that.
So that's so good because other people in that interview would possibly have just crumbled at that point because you're just like, I've totally messed up, I'm never gonna get the job. Whereas if you were able to draw in something sensible about the topic related using structures, that's a massive achievement, Georgie, that you were able to do that given how anxious you were.
So very, very well done. If you are teeing yourself up to go for your consultant post Do the course. There is so much helpful information. The advice that you get from the group sessions and the advice you get from Tessa herself is amazing. The opportunity to have shared learning and practice out loud is so important. Absolutely do it.
