In this first‑person testimonial, Mubarak (Speaker A) recounts his experience preparing for an interview to move from a familiar trust where he had been a local consultant to a new, unfamiliar trust. Concerned that standard one‑day courses would not provide the depth he needed, he enrolled in AYC Academy’s personalized coaching program with a mentor named Becky. Over a 3–4‑week period, Mubarak engaged in one‑to‑one sessions, a private WhatsApp channel for sharing video responses, iterative feedback on a PowerPoint presentation, and a mock interview two days before the actual interview. The tailored support helped him rehearse 10–15 likely questions, refine his presentation, and build confidence. On interview day he felt “100% confident,” delivered solid answers and a strong presentation, and received immediate positive feedback from the interview panel and a follow‑up email from the clinical lead praising his performance. Mubarak attributes this success entirely to the AYC Academy membership.

After securing my substantive post, I've been— we have been trying to move positions to a new trust. The first trust, I was working as a local consultant, so I knew the trust's policies and the values and the day-to-day happenings of the trust. The next challenge was a bit ambiguous because I would be trying in a different trust where I have never worked before. That would be a wholesome new experience. So I was really anxious as to— Yeah. How to go about this. So that's when I knew about AYC Academy. You know, all the options that come up are 1-day courses, and I was not sure whether this 1-day course would be— that would give me that kind of push that I really needed. The 1-to-1 sessions with Becky gave me a boost prior to the interview. I attended the interview within 3 to 4 weeks preparation time, so I was not able to attend it to the— make it to the live session. So that's where I needed something, a personalized space or personalized support. The last week of interview preparation, the final boost that gave, like it created a private WhatsApp channel where I can post videos and Becky used to tell me to refine and upload it later on. So I, I kind of prepared like 10, 10 to 15 questions, which I definitely knew that it, at least some of which would turn up in the interview. I was already a consultant, so that kind of practice is something that I can never get hold of. So this academy helped me with that. And the PowerPoint presentation, she gave me tips as to how to refine it. And I kind of did a mock interview with her 2 days prior to my main interview. So whatever points she told me gave me a final Push for that interview. Yeah, I turned up confident, hundred with hundred percent confidence on that day. The interview panel like they closed with a comment like I had come up with the solid answers to most of the questions and the presentation was good. So they closed it with this comment. So when I came out, I had the confidence that I had done it. That's how it went. And the clinical lead emailed me the day after. and official feedback that the performance was fantastic and they were really pleased to have me as a team member. That kind of performance would have been impossible without being— without myself being an Academy member.
