This is a YouTube video titled "BFG10 Monday Motivation" featuring Jim Rees delivering a motivational talk on curiosity and personal growth, inspired by a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt. The content is a monologue aimed at encouraging viewers to challenge their comfort zones and pursue their potential, recorded in December 2024.
Welcome to this week's inspirational quote. This week's quote comes from Eleanor Roosevelt, the First lady of Franklin D. Roosevelt. She was born in 1884, and she was the woman who turned the first lady role quite radically and got involved very heavily in politics herself as the First Lady. And her quote is, I could not at any age be content to take my place at the fireside and simply look on. Life was meant to be lived. Curiosity was meant to be kept alive, and one must never, for whatever reason, turn his back on life. So she uses a profound word that I really resonate with in leadership and in your personal lives, and that is curiosity. And I believe that curiosity is the piece of string that you need to pull on to stretch yourself, to become curious about what is possible for you personally and also professionally in your life. Far too many people sit on Comfort Zone Island. Once they've settled down, they've got a career, they just stay on that treadmill and don't really challenge themselves to see whether they're actually fully being content with what they're doing. Are they really enjoying what they do for a living? Are they passionate about what they do? So being curious will help you get part of the way. So keep on asking those questions about what is it that I could be doing or should be doing to stretch myself to, to get off Comfort Zone island, to stretch the boundaries, to stretch my thinking about what is possible for me to achieve in my lifetime as adults. It's too easy to settle for the relative ease of your own comfort zones. Yet all the things that are off Comfort Zone island are the things that are going to stretch you. So I hope this week's quote has been interesting for you. I'm looking forward to hearing your comments and thoughts below and look forward to sharing my next week's inspirational quote next Monday. Take care. Have a phenomenal week. Bye for now.
