The content is a monologue with no indication of multiple speakers named Jim Rees.
Welcome to this week's inspirational video. This week's video comes from Sedona, actually, and the quote is from Gandhi. And it's one of my favorite quotes from him, and it's one that you would have heard, I'm sure, hundreds of times before. It's be the change you want to see in the world. So one of the stories that was told about Gandhi was that he was greeting a number of villagers on one of his treks, and he came across a woman who brought her son along to see him and wanted Gandhi to ask her son to give up sugar. And Gandhi thought for a moment, and then he said, can you go away for a week and then come back and see me in a week's time? So the lady did as he requested.
She.
She went away, came back with her son the following week and asked the same question. Would you mind asking my son to give up sugar? And Gandhi immediately bleated out, can you please give up sugar? And that was it. And the woman then sort of like, well, why couldn't you have said that last week when I was here, instead of making me trek all the way back to my village and then come all the way back again? And Gandhi said, which I think is very profound and beautifully sort of examples his quote, which is, be the change you want to see in the world. He said that at the time when she asked him to ask her son to give up sugar, he was also eating sugar himself. So he wanted to be authentic and true when he was giving out advice, which I think is a great thing to think about from a leadership perspective. It's about being the change you want to see in the world. So if you want to be an authentic leader, then make sure you're exhibiting behaviors and traits that actually are good examples for others to follow. And I think that's a beautiful way to think about Gandhi's quote. So have a great week, and I look forward to sharing next week's quote with you. Bye for now.
