This is a YouTube video titled "Emotional Intelligence Data" created in April 2024 featuring Jim Rees presenting research on employee emotional health, the impact of emotional intelligence in the workplace, and its importance for business success post-Covid. The content is a monologue by Jim Rees sharing findings and insights on emotional well-being and productivity.
Hi there, my name is Jim Rees. I've recently been conducting research looking at employee and emotional health issues in the workplace, post Covid and working at home and the effect it's having on businesses. It's been estimated that approximately 85% of the population globally suffers from low self esteem. So I'd like to share my findings with you and indeed would appreciate you being part of the discussion and start by asking if you would be interested in my approach. A psychology professor from Harvard published an article stating that being able to manage your emotions effectively should be an essential skill and should no longer be referred to as soft skills. The World Health Organization stated that globally each year approximately 12 billion workdays are lost due to depression and anxiety, translating in an estimated 1 trillion trillion with a T trillion US dollars lost in productivity. The data for improved emotional intelligence is compelling in favour of it being the difference that makes the difference in an increasingly competitive marketplace. Ensuring your employees maintain access to a healthy wellbeing approach therefore should be a priority for future success should it not. Being able to perform under pressure has become a new business priority and this is where introducing emotional intelligence into the workplace has helped navigate and manage individuals own emotional well being and effectively engage and inspire them and their teams to greater levels of sustained performance. Self awareness, Knowing who we are and how we're seen is essential for job performance, career success and leadership effectiveness. Unfortunately, this is lacking in today's workplace. My research has found that although 95% of people think they're self aware, only 10 to 15% actually are. Furthermore, research performed by the Carnegie Institute of Technology surprisingly found that 85% percent of financial success is due to human investment, things like personality and the ability to communicate.
