The content is a monologue aimed at encouraging viewers to adopt positive self-talk for better daily performance.
Welcome to this week's inspirational quote. This week's quote comes from Lloyd Hunnigan, who was born in Jamaica in 1960 in April and was the undisputed welterweight champion of the world from 86 to 87, holding the WBA, the WBC and the IBF belts and also was the WBC champion in 1989. No, sorry, 1988 to 89. And Lloyd's quote is this. Very simple actually. The bell went ding and I went dong. So for athletes that are on a starting line, they can probably relate to this. And any, anyone that's got done any boxing will also relate to this. You need to be in a state of preparedness for action, ready to go. And of course when he, when the bell went ding, he would, he went dong. And that is what got him those three titles and then retained the WBC title in 88 to 89. But we're not all elite athletes, let's face it, myself included. But there are occasions where we will need to be able to turn it on, where we've had a late night and we're not feeling particularly great that following morning. So what do we do? How do we get ourselves into a really good state for when that happens? Or we've had some bad feedback or the presentation that we did didn't particularly go as well as we wanted it to. And a lot of this is down to our thinking. Unfortunately what happens is we get our thinking and our feelings in the wrong order. So for example, you know, if you're feeling a little bit ropey, that after a night out you'll wake up feeling pretty tired and shattered and that will then drive your thinking. So what you've got to do is you've got to reverse the order. You've got to be thinking that you've got this covered, that you'll be able to lean into this goal that you're looking to achieve and then take it from there. So in essence what you need to be doing is positive affirmations. And that's basically your internal dialogue of what you're saying to yourself that morning or when you're looking at, you know, recovering from the feedback that you've had, etc. So think about your positive affirmations that you are currently using. And when I say affirmations, a lot of people get confused about this. Basically we were talking about your self talk and we all talk to ourselves. We've got this internal dialogue bits going 247 or maybe when we're sleeping. Yes, we probably do have that internal dialogue but it's there all the time. And what we've got to be doing is we've got to be thinking, okay, so what words am I using? Am I putting myself down? Am I being self deprecating all the time? So we've got to think about how we use our internal dialogue and deliberately start using positive affirmations so that we can make sure that we get through that day when we're not feeling 100%. So I hope you've enjoyed this week's inspirational quote, and I look forward to hearing your comments in the links below. And I look forward to sharing next week's inspirational quote with you. Bye for now. Have a great week.
