I say this all the time, but it's true that the opportunity at Vivint is getting better and better. The industry and the space that we're in happens to be one of the hottest, fastest-growing industries in any segment, any sector in business that there is.
If you look at the companies now competing in this industry, it is the who's who of tech. Vivint Smart Home is right smack in the middle of it and dominating.
A lot of these companies out there think you just make a product and put it on a shelf and people are going to understand it and buy it.
Smart home, we believe, is still sold, not purchased.
If we could solve education, finance, and install, that gives us a huge leg up in the services that we provide, and that's why we have more momentum than any other company in our industry.
You're going to be able to explain it to them, educate them, and then be there through the whole process until they're using their phone to do everything in their home.
There are a few different reasons why our product stands out. Can we take locks, lights, cameras, thermostats, monitors, security, et cetera, and bring it into one experience? And do it in a way where the left hand and the right hand are cognizant of each other and can help inform each other. And that's why the product offering that Vivint has is the most cohesive offering that really is available on the market today.
So you finish college, and you go to the market to look at the jobs that are out there. I haven't seen anything like Vivint. There is no glass ceiling. There is nobody holding you back, telling you how slow you have to go and when you can arrive at a certain position in the company. You put forth the effort, you've got the ambition, the opportunity's there for you. We were recognized in Fast Company's Top 50 Most Innovative Companies, Consumer's Digest Best Buy Award, Forbes 500 list of best companies to work for. And it's a game changer having your company's name on the arena of a major national basketball team in the Utah Jazz.
We're not looking for people to just come and follow and do what we say.. We want people that are innovative, that think really big, and that are not afraid to try things that are a bit different. There are a lot of jobs out there you get paid a certain salary. We pay based on your efforts, and so if your effort and your output is high, your pay is extremely high.
I've never seen any other opportunity where you can make as much money in such a short amount of time and then do what you want to do with your life. I'm able to go to school full-time. I'm able to invest and take care of my family, but when it comes to summer, it's my work time where I'm able to come out and work hard. If you can channel your focus, your energy, and all your attention onto one thing for 4 months, there's absolutely no reason why you wouldn't be able to succeed. It'll be the hardest thing you've ever done without a doubt, but it will be the most gratifying thing you've ever done as well.
The money's great, but the thing that blindsides you is the skills that you learn. You give it one summer and you will have learned skills that most adults never never get the opportunity to learn.
I have learned from this job how to be an entrepreneur, how to own and operate my own business, and I've been able to grow and expand my business year over year for the last 10 years.
People just don't get this kind of skill training in college. They just don't.
When you go to look for jobs or go to graduate school, whatever you want to do, being involved in the smart home space with the leader in smart home is going to be super valuable for you and your human capital on your resume.
When you're challenged and push to do things that you're not used to, that you haven't learned before, that's when you're going to grow as a person.
If you don't believe that you are working for the best company and surrounded by people that you love and trust and offering the best product in the industry, you can't be great at what you do. And at Vivint, you truly can come here and be great.
We have all the information, all the resources, all the experience. You don't have to learn that. We already know it. You just have to be a sponge. You have to be open to learning from other people and kind of taking on the knowledge that they've gained through the years. And if you'll do that, you bring your hard work and you bring your drive and your commitment, you're gonna succeed. Come in and commit to it and really commit to giving everything you have to being the best you can be at this job.
This is an industry that is growing so fast and so quickly that in 5 years Vivint is going to be an absolute beast in this industry. I have no fear of competing against those big boys because of this sales force. We can do something that people have tried to replicate but have not been able to, and that's why we're winning right now.
