Hey, it's Mark Podolski, the land Geek with thelanggeek.com let's have another virtual cup coffee together. So I'm in my new digs, my new office, loving it. But you can't tell with the camera. But I'm actually standing on my walking treadmill. Look, sitting's the new smoking, right? So anyways, I want to talk a little bit about abdication versus delegation. What's the difference? So a business has typically three phases, just like a child. You've got infancy, you've got adolescent, and you've got maturity. Most companies don't get past adolescence phase infancy. You're doing everything yourself, you're working those 80 hour weeks and it's craziness, right? Adolescence, you start hiring out and you have, in our case with land business, you have your virtual assistants or maybe you have an admin that comes to your office. And the maturity is when you have a full fledged business that's running on its own. However, what happens when? Why do most companies go from infancy to adolescence and never get past maturity and fail at adolescence? And the reason is abdication versus delegation. Abdication means you hire a virtual assistant and then you expect them to just perform it. You kind of take time off and you do your own thing and you're not really watching what your VA or your employee is really doing. You just assume that they've got it all taken, they've got it all under control. In most cases, they really don't. You've got to delegate it, which means you watch it, you nurture it, you train, and you're always what Stephen Covey would say is sharpening the saw to make that VA better.
